On and off topic:
Yesterday I took a break from the daily politics to do some yard work. It was a beautiful spring day. I mowed the yard and it was a 4 beer yard (3 acres minus a few trees).
After I finished mowing I went into the house and collected all the paper trash to burn in my burn barrel. So there I sat out in the back part of the yard burning paper trash and drinking beer. I had on my MP3 player and was playing my favorite tunes and also had a charged hose handy while watching the barrel to make sure it didnÂ’t get away.
I contemplated the beauty of a perfect spring day; high in the low 70s, dogwood trees blooming in radiant glory with beautiful white blossoms, my cherry trees also were in full pink bloom as well as the apple trees going full bore. There I was in perfect bliss listening to some good stuff (no I will not tell you what). When along came the neighborÂ’s two kidsÂ…Â….
My neighborÂ’s two little girls came up to the burn barrel to talk. Instead of the normal 2,000 questions they wanted to show me their latest acquisition.
The oldest was holding two little puppies; one in each arm and she wanted me to see them. Little girls and puppies all in one show. I wish I had had a camera with me as it was the perfect moment. It was a reminder that even when we get some evil every day from people like the Jug-eared AH, God will offset that if you are patient.

Oddly enough, I'm spending the day "cleaning" my iTunes library. Since it's one of the many features that leaves much to be desired, I'm stuck with a 3rd party app doing half the work while I go thru the other half.
The most annoying thing, realizing I have 6+ versions of various Beatles tracks (mono, stereo, french-mono-ep version, acoustic, semi-acoustic, Paul in the bathroom).

I've been listening to a pretty eclectic mix. I love Diana Krall, Sinatra, and the soundtrack to A Good Year, which is all over the map. And a crazy friend of ours made us a CD of music to throw tiki parties by. It's awesome in the summer when everyone's over having umbrella drinks.
And I love classic rock. My son loaded a bunch of stuff on his old MP3 player and gave to me. I like his taste in music.

My recommendation: Start with Flogging Molly (out of Los Angeles), not Dropkick Murphys (out of Boston) if you want to enjoy irish folk's influence on punk. The DMs are great, but if you don't have an ear for punk, it'll turn you off quick. Both were influenced by the Pogues.

one night we were there and about 8 people there watching them. we passed joints onto the stage to Ronnie and he passed it around to the band then back down to us.
when they were through playing we helped them carry their stuff down the long steps to their stationwagons then sat around and drank beer with them and smoked a couple of joints with them before they headed back to Jacksonville.

Believe it or not Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus) is a pretty normal guy when he's out of character and you would never know it was him. My closest sibling was my brother who was 12 years older than me. I spent a lot of time with him when I was very little. Looking back, he was very kind about letting me hang out with him while he was listening to music, or whatever. I had to watch what he wanted and listen to what he wanted but since I had no tastes developed yet, that wasn't a problem. Really how many 4 year olds know all the lyrics to the Kingston Trio? and every star trek? Anyway, he died 7 years ago--suddenly.
About 6 1/2 years ago my son needed a soundtrack for a renaissance project and I stopped into Tower records. I spontaneously bought Johnny Cash's greatest hits for my mom because she wanted an album with a beat to walk to and since she's old and kinda country I thought she would like it. I stuck it into the cd player in the car.
Within moments I realized that I knew everyword, every note--I had heard it a thousand times when I was but a toddler and it was ingrained in my mind, my heart, my ear. I pulled over and cried.
