The best Japanese animal is the Hot Tub Macaca. No, seriously. Their monkeys like to jump into hot springs in winter.

Plus, if you're in the hot tub, your chances of nailing lacey (even after a couple glasses of pinot grigio) are slim.

Woman has 26K Euros in her bra screams headline
The money was seized from a Romanian national during checks at the Port of Holyhead.
The woman, travelling to North Wales from Dublin, claimed she earned the money from the sale of a business in Ireland, but could not prove this.
She also could not explain why she had concealed such a large sum of
cash in
500 euro notes.
Wow, it is against the law in GB to have money in your tits and they can seize it at will. (unless you can prove that you earned legally I presume).

A neglected climate strategy: Empower women, slow population growthInstead of pouring resources into expensive geoengineering research, we should pursue low-tech reproductive health and women's empowerment programs that have widespread social benefits and can reduce CO2 emissions

A soldier took his rifle off base and he was "beaten and robbed" of said rifle in Atlanta.
Can you say "he sold the damn thing" and made up a story that wont wash anyway.
I hope he can say "good council" when he goes before a general court.

They've had bears on the islands for quite some time. In fact, they think that the common ancestor of the Asiatic Bears arrived in Japan at about the same time that it arrived in the Americas, during the last Ice Age. And since the japanese have to turn EVERYTHING into a terror, look up the Sankebetsu Brown Bear Incident. Yay serial killer bears.
They also have a breed of dog that was made specifically to hunt bears, called the Akita Matagi.

Michigan Considers Law to License Journalists
A Michigan lawmaker wants to license reporters to ensure they’re credible and vet them for “good moral character.”
Senator Bruce Patterson is introducing legislation that will regulate reporters much like the state does with hairdressers, auto mechanics and plumbers. Patterson, who also practices constitutional law, says that the general public is being overwhelmed by an increasing number of media outlets--traditional, online and citizen generated--and an even greater amount misinformation.

Of course he is. Only licenced and vetted professionals have a right to report on anything. Otherwise these uncouth barbarians Let Down The Side. For the good of the conservative movement, it is imperative that only nuanced gentlemen with an appreciation for pants-creasing be given the right to speak.

That's interesting, Vic.
I'm not sure how to read "good moral character" though. If it's the obvious educational moral character, ie, not be suspended/expelled for plagiarism, I'm all for it. But what if they lump DUIs or simple misdemeanors in with that? Not sure how criminal matters (felonies excluded) matter.
I wish they would have added that those coming out of J'school must have at least one logic class on their transcripts. We could avoid having people like Chuck Todd rise to the top of his field.

IF the stupid bill had a chance of passing it wouldn't last a week before it was in court.
It's an intersting question from a 1st Amend. POV. Not sure how they could treat it like a traditional trade and/or profession that's typically regulated under state law. One could make the argument that they owe a fiduciary duty to the general public and shoddy reporting gives rise to claims of neligence (a reaaaaaaal stretch I admit).

I'm pretty sure Kung-Fu bears are indiginous to China.

I am cool and relieved.
The A/C stopped working around 1pm yesterday and I was afraid it would be a long hot weekend.
Got it fixed by 4pm. Can't beat that. Good thing, too, since it will be above 90 degrees for the forseeable future.
