Will you fucking people can it with the wishful thinking shit?
Votes are what's gonna make Brown win, not wishful thinking.

LOL. If there was ever a need for a Slushop, this is it.
Barry in a pointy hat, Coakley in a crystal ball, and the monkeys with purple SEIU t-shirts.

Scott Brown loses in a close race. This is like a contender fighting for a boxing championship. He has to knock him out to win. Scott has to win in a landslide, if not, Coakley steals a close election.
How about getting off your negative ass and make calls for Brown from your home to ensure it isn't close.
Posted by: loppyd at January 13, 2010 11:50 AM (UJIeT)
I would love to see Brown win, but with all of Obama's agenda at stake, I have a feeling ACORN et al will be out in force. (On the other hand, it is much easier to blame the other side than to govern, so the Dems might actually want to lose. "Waah, those mean Republicans are stopping us again!")
Still, I think this election will make last Minnesota's look like a Cub Scouts' Soap Box Derby. If Brown wins, or even gets within four points, I'll happily eat my words.

Health care 'reform' is such a train wreck that out here in Commiefornia, land of libtards and RINO's, that even GAS (Ahnuld) says it will cost his BK'ed budget 3-4 billion $$$. Some reform!

Coakley's done her part in praising and welcoming Independent candidate Joe Kennedy(Kennedy Driving Instruction Family) to the race and using him to beat up her main opponent.

I'm so sick of the cheerleader squad who come out right before every election and think they 'hope' their way to victory. We're not gonna win until we fix the fundamental problems in the GOP.
And the same cheerleader squad will be here on 1/20 if Brown loses and they'll point their bony fingers at...the social conservatives for not voting for a pro-abortion candidate.
We're not going to win until we break this insane cycle.
Posted by: Butters at January 13, 2010 12:03 PM (z37MR)
And you know what?
I was talking about this race months ago here on AoS before any of gave a shit. So I know what's at stake. I know what's going on up here.
Posted by: Butters at January 13, 2010 12:05 PM (z37MR)
Do I worry about us coming up short in this race? Hell yes I do, in fact the hardened, cynical political veteran in me figures that's what will most likely happen. But I don't let it slow me down now. Especially because I seem to understand how important political OPTICS are more than the rest of y'all: if Brown wins, there is no way that Dems will risk ramming the bill through (either through ping-pong or reconciliation or whatever) before he is seated. The nation would turn to damn near open revolt in that case -- you'd see crazy heretofore inconceivable shit like Feingold losing in WI, Murray going down in WA and Wyden taking a dunking in OR, as well as a 60-70 seat flip in the House if that happened.
In order to get the troops like us -- both in-state and out-of-state -- fired up, you need a relentlessly positive message. Not one untethered from reality -- nobody thinks this is in the bag or even close to being better than 50/50 -- but one that says "fuck negativity, fuck talk about stealing elections or delaying seating or union machines, FUCK ALL THAT SHIT AND LET'S STAY ACTIVE AND MOVING.
We all know the score: it's Massachusetts, for god's sake. We all know the stakes: the end of Obama legislative agenda, pretty much, and NOT just health-care (though that's huge). Let's stop this nervous grannyish worrymongering and keep spirits high. In the end, only the votes of MA residents matter. But we can help that cause. We already have (look at the moneybomb, holy shit!), but we can and must do more.
Let's take off and nuke this election from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
(And remember who this is coming from, for chrissakes. I've normally been "EEYORE PANSY SQUISH #1" on this blog. If I can throw off those chains, then nobody else has any fucking excuse whatsoever.)

If Brown wins, I am going to get shit-hammered and call in sick to work.
Or should I say WHEN Brown wins, I am going to get shit-hammered and call in sick to work.
Who am I kidding?
Whether or not Brown wins, I am going to get shit-hammered and call in sick to work.

Again, no one's arguing that it will be easy. People have to keep the effort up. One of the things that makes it possible for them to keep the effort up is GOOD MORALE.

I doubt that those who reached into their wallets and built the moneybomb are anxious to hear they've pissed their money down a hole. So some sensitivity to those who are working or giving might be in order.
Posted by: spongeworthy at January 13, 2010 12:29 PM (rplL3)
And here's the thing: even if you're convinced that Brown will fall short (hey, not unreasonable), a close race is STILL a huge victory for us. As things stand right now, I think the worst case scenario is a margin of +5% for Coakley. Which, in MA, is pathetic and a message to every Dem in a swing state/district.

This is Rocky II, not Rocky (as much as I love the first film)
We are well aware that the apparatus is preparing to steal the election.
I promise you that it will not go unchallenged.
I think we've learned from the Al Franken fiasco judges are on the side of Democrats in cases like this.

This is like betting on the Redskins in an away game vs. ..... (insert any team here) just because you are a fan. Yes you hope to "steal" one but odds are they are going to get beat like a red headed stepchild.
Yeah I guess this is me "getting out of the way". This shit is next week so I will just not comment on it till then and hope I am wrong.

How about putting your crack team of researchers on the course of posting links to the PODCAST of these items?
I know, I am rude. Seriously, although you and your minions might believe that we readers keep your blog online 24/7/365 (with sound alerts), some of us in the western US have, you know, TIME ZONE DISCOMFORT.
Just a thought. OTOH, you complete asswipe, keep up your minions' good work!
Now, on to other things, like filling my empty glass with more single malt.
