The progressives are sitting at home swilling cider and talking about those nasty conservatives who watch and agree that football is a great family sport.
The progressives also believe its barbaric, inhumane, inappropriate and should be banned by Congress.

It is a B*TCH to set up. You're basically putting together a concert rig that normally takes six or so hours to put up in less than ten minutes. And take it down in about six. Plus... you can't hurt the turf, there's nowhere to store anything, and BTW, did you know that the stage had to go piece by piece through only ONE tunnel to get into the stadium? This is probably the hardest show to put on in live entertainment.
/rant off, go about your game watching

--Bill Simmons borke it down the other day. There are 3 types of announcer: the by the book straight guys like Summeral, the always at 11 guys like Gus Johnson, and the guys like Nantz and Alpert who can change up and adjust to the pace of the game. The third are the best, because thay are the hardest to call, especially for baseball and football.

Off topic breaking news out of the People's Corrupt Republic of Illinois:
Scott Lee Cohen drops out
(AP) — The Democratic nominee for Illinois lieutenant governor has dropped out of the race less than a week after winning the nomination amid a political uproar about his past.
Scott Lee Cohen announced his decision Sunday night at a Chicago bar.
Should be interesting to see who the corruptocrats appoint to the position, and to try and figure out what sort of bribe was paid or threat was made.

Most common plastic supermarket bags are a polyethylene of some sort which is produced from ethane extracted from natural gas. When its not being used to make the the plastics, its just burned off as a waste gas since it burns too hot for most natural gas appliances to handle when its present in more than trace quantity.
The whole "anti-plastic bag because it uses oil" thing is really a fraud based on bad information.

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama said Sunday that the Indianapolis Colts "have to be favored" in the Super Bowl, even though he has a "soft spot" for the New Orleans Saints.
President Barack Obama believes Colts QB Peyton Manning might be too much for the Saints. Obama's Super Bowl prediction was based on his opinion that the Colts have "perhaps the best quarterback in history."

this is Da Cubbies year damnit!!
D.C. under a blanket of global warming, Saints win the Superbowl, you might just be right about that. My Astros sure aren't going to win the comedy central.

Favorite Super Bowl: Have to be the Rams-Titans or Giants-Bills.
I love Phil Simms. He has one of the best lines I've ever heard from an announcer. Sitting there with the other Gumbel announcing a game. The other Gumbel is going on and on about why Terrell Davis is so great. "First one to practice, last one to leave. Spends hours studying game film, never gets tired of talking football, really understands the game, blah, blah, blah."
And Simms says, "Yeah, and it helps to have arms as big as my legs."

Yeh, I just started watching it last Aug. and Sci Fi (sic) takes delight in showing the episodes in seemingly random order, so that you get an explanation of what happened last year before you see it.
I'm watching Season 1 on Hulu...

Of course I'm sure there is going to be the moment when prez congrats the winning team. You will of course keep watching for that right?
Right?

I've read the production crew thought there would be a season 11 most of the way through 10 and the cancellation came as a shock to them

Will Obama bow to the Saints when they are received at the White House?
He'll challenge them to a basketball game and when they let him win, he'll strut and say they played stupidly.
Posted by: Mama AJ in Shreveport/Bossier at February 07, 2010 06:03 PM (Be4xl)
When the Saints go to the White House for the photo op, I trust they will speak in the Negro dialect so Barack can offer some witty rejoins in same so the players will think he's one of them, and not the elitist as portrayed by the evil conservatives.

I bought the first 7 seasons off Amazon used for about $8/season, shipped. Great buy.
And what's with Carter being all hawt starting season 4? Did she and O'neill get busy during the break after Thor's ship crashed?
Posted by: Dang Straights at February 07, 2010 06:03 PM (3iYcr)
I salute the Saints although I think it was barbaric of them to offer up their minorities, women and children to their god Katrina in order to get to the Super Bowl.
Different culture. Who am I to judge?

Drew Brees is a good guy. No shame being happy for him.
Be a lot happier for him if he had just led the COWBOYS to a superbowl win, dangit.
Thanks again, Jerrah.

I loved Madden
When asked for his opinion as a former coach whether the Cowboys should
Kick the PAT or go for two he says "Well Jim, you need to win by at least one point."

I hope the ENTIRE team doesn't come to the White House. I mean I tried staying up for this entire game, and I didn't see one light-skinned Negro in the bunch. And I'm sure they all speak with Negro dialects (unless they don't want to).
I sincerely hope they don't come during the sweltering summer months either. These Negroes must sweat up a storm and will stink up the Rotunda something awful...

On the other hand I was gratified to hear my 15 year old son state that "Even though they're cutting short and splicing together the songs to fit the program it's still amazing how much better the music is than most of the current stuff.
They're past their prime and I don't think the whole Superbowl halftime thing works as a concert venue for someone like them, but it could have been worse.

I had to kill the audio after a few minutes. The remark I made to my wife was "it is sad when a formerly good group just doesn't know when to quit". Frank Sinatra may have been able to go up until he was 66 but the style of music he sang lent itself to that ability.
Someone posted above that his son said they were still better than the current crop of artists. Yes that is true but......two male alley cats fighting in an alley over a female sound better than the current crop of artists.

I hear you there. But sadly, age is real. And with Daltrey and Townshend, it showed--painfully.
Sometimes the singer can re-master the songs in a more mature key (Robert Plant), but I tend to agree with Grace Slick when she said that there comes a time to stop.
