— Ace I wish him good health so he can retire for the fall.
Byrd, 92, was admitted to the hospital after "suffering from what was believed to be heat exhaustion and severe dehydration as a result of the extreme temperatures," according to the statement. "However, upon further examination by his doctors, other conditions have developed which has resulted in his condition being described as 'serious.' "

Frankly, I have been pretty convinced for some time the Senator kicked off late last year and they have been doing a "Weekend at Bernie's" thing with the mortal remains in order to get key legislation like Health Care through.
If that is not the case, I do hope he recovers- if only for the fact that West Virginia will be in quite a quandry trying to find something else to name after him.

There will be a United States Government mandated no-resuscitation order instituted immediately regarding Senator Robert Byrd. Senator Byrd will be allowed to pass with dignity and surrounded by his loving family.
Secure Phone Line from Oval Office:
Secretary Sebelius, call that fucking Surgeon General and the doctor's at Walter Reed Hospital and tell them to do absolutely everything in their power to save Senator Byrd. If this means kicking someone's ass out of the hospital, then so be it. This is a command decision and failure will not be tolerated.

Grand Dragon Byrd has spent a lifetime making people miserable while sucking from the public teat and living a very comfortable life with no effort. If he had to deal with the reality the rest of us live in, he would have hit the Dirt Nap years ago. Would have been retired, too, not sucking valuable oxygen in the Senate chamber.
Okay, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he lives. In fact, I hope he does. But let's be honest: he was a waste of food, a bigot, hypocrite and a Democrat. Therefore, worthless.
I'd rather pray for -- and mourn -- decent human beings, not faux Washington royalty. They'll be lining up over at HA to pass along the good words. Such words are wasted on Grand Dragons and drunken woman-killers.

Whereas Robert Byrd may well have participated as a teenager in lynching Black men in West Virginia -- and definitely chose of his own volition to enter and rise through the ranks of an organization that celebrated those lynchings.
I am sure that whenever Robert Byrd's time comes -- and I would be just as happy to see it come sooner than later -- he will have an accounting in Hell for his deeds on Earth.

The problem is that too many people let the Left define "the moral high ground." The Left wants "decent, fair-minded people" to think that passivity and non-resistance are the moral high ground.
I say the moral high ground is where you stand when you push the button that starts the lethal injection. It's the place you stand when you launch the Hellfire missile that kills the Al-Qaeda operative -- even if he's with his wife and children -- thereby preventing him from killing hundreds or thousands of innocents. It's the seat on the bulldozer demolishing a terrorist smuggling tunnel, and it's definitely NOT the place in front of the bulldozer's blade. And the moral high ground is where you stand when you say with absolute certainty that choosing to be a Grand Kleagle is a mark of evil that can never be erased.

It's more than just any Democrat organization: for roughly 100 years, the Klan was THE terrorist arm of the Democratic Party. Somehow genuinely evil people like Byrd are given a pass by the MSM for that little (D) after their names, even though it represents the party of Jim Crow and the KKK, and before that of slavery.

Re: "Unrepentant." In truth, I think Byrd did sort of repent for the Klan thing, disowned it. And was not in for very long.
But having said that - there isn't much point in being nice about it. The rule of "anyway" applies. They are going to try and dance on Cheney's grave no matter what we do. And, the other side would try to use an ancient Klan membership as a career-ender if they could apply it to an R. So, have at the pork-barreling old crud.

Byrd 'seriously ill'
If it persists, ByrdÂ’s illness could complicate the financial reform billÂ’s path to President Barack Obama's desk. Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, one of four Republicans who voted for the original bill, has said he might vote against the version that emerged from the reconciliation of the House and Senate versions because it adds a $19 billion bank tax.
Should Brown vote no and Byrd is unable to vote, it would leave the bill one vote shy of the 60 needed to close debate and move to final passage.

Sorry but no. He says he was not in it for very long. Of course when he was in it he was responsible for organizing the local chapter. Its not like he merely joined, he essentially started up the franchise in his area. Also after his supposed leaving of the klan, he wrote a letter urging its promotion around and recommending a buddy of his. This happened about 3-4 years after he claimed he left the klan. His "not very long" is a load of shit.

I've read rumors where she might have been found and captured by the Japanese, but these possible fates for AE sounds worse:
Gillespie believes that many of the bones might have been carried off by crabs, suggesting an unmerciful end for Earhart.
"In our experience, the crabs can be a serious problem. When we sat down to eat lunch, there were hundreds of these crabs climbing on our shoes. If you lay down, they think you are dead and they pinch pieces out of you," Gillespie said.
Abandoned for weeks on a desert island where temperatures often exceed 100 degrees, even in the shade, Earhart may have succumbed to any number of causes, including injury and infection, food poisoning from toxic fish, or simply dehydration.

Understand Blazer - you cant force him into the VMI/Citadel -- those guys are the first to wash out. Focus undergraduate on the school with the smallest class sizes and fewest, if any, classes taught by graduate assistants, unless he wants to go into a specific engineering or scientific discipline. Joining NG in college is a good deal - spending money, bit of the real world, security clearance, camoflage is like moonbat bane, etc.

I'd like him to attend a military school of course and possibly become a lawyer and end up working for our cause, maybe even get into politics. At any rate, it's his choice and I'll be proud of him no matter what he does.

It was a letter he wrote to Theodore Bilbo, the dementedly segregationist Governor and then Senator from Mississippi. His exact words, according to Wikipedia:
"I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."
Real piece of work, Bob Byrd. I find it difficult to even wish him a quick and painless death.

I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with that.
Both these laws are outrageous intrusions on property rights, 64 and states rights 65.
Since when do we tell only certain states their laws must be approved by the DOJ? NY State can pass voting districts that SC can not? That sound like equal under the law to you?
Since when did we tell a private property owner who the hell he can let on his property?
Both these laws are WRONG! They were then, they are NOW.

Well, let's see. I went and looked again at the letters Byrd wrote. Utterly damning.
Then there's timing. He joined the Klan in '42 and was promoted twice. In 1952 he ran for Congress, and claimed he had lost interest in the organization and had quit paying dues after a year. But in 1946 or 1947 he wrote a quite glowing letter about the organization to a Grand Wizard.
Yeah. I went way too easy on him. Sorry about that.
