That's an important point. As the loons move left, they seem to embrace a stricter, more doctrinaire version of liberalism/socialism. But as people move toward the far right, they seem to embrace a few facets of conservative thought, and expand them beyond their value in a rational society.
So...by definition, lefty politics is just a continuum of crazy, but righty politics is rational, except on the margin. And I am not joking.

If the tea party had really wanted to change America they would have embraced all of us. Not just "real Americans". The tea party just seems to be a group that wants the Rs to be even more ruthless than they are and cut every entitlement to the middle class and the poor. Especially the poor.

When I think of right wing extremists, I tend to think of, like, militia groups, fringe churches, and that sort of thing.
The thing is, conservativism, by its very nature is something of a moderate philosophy. We want small government, but not no government. We want to keep the stuff that makes our society good, and change the stuff that doesn't. There aren't a whole lot of extremes to latch onto there.

If you want to celebrate winning Ohio, Indiana, Arkansas and North Dakota, then this is a pretty ho-hum midterm for the GOP.
The big, close races are in CA, NV, WA, IL, CT, WV, CO and now PA. Let's see how they do in those.
So far, there is no election breaking open for the GOP candidate in the last few weeks. Maybe NV will with Reid's bad debate performance.

The democrat media are setting up a scenario that if the R's don't take the huge outside probability numbers of: 70, 80, 90 100+++ - that it's an epic fail for the R's. "The R's fell short". We can hear it now. The pro-D biased media are that predictable.
I'm not falling for it.
I'd say we pick up around 50+/- in the house.
We won't take the senate, but the Democrats will lose their super-majority there.

The polling for Ken Buck, Sharron Angle, and Christine O'Donnell all had them in a Dead Heat the week before the primary, but all won handily. I suspect there is a segment of likely voters that is overlooked in current polling models.

Two short years ago, the Democrats were talking about how they were going to pick up senate seats in Ohio, New Hampshire, Kentucky, North Carolina, Lousiana, and Texas. Now, they're desperately marshaling resources to save Harry Reid and Barbara Boxer.
Six months ago, Charlie Crist was going to split the GOP vote and put Florida in the bag for either himself or Kendrick Meek. How did that work out for you guys?
And in California, the Democrat Party is pinning its hopes on a senile hippie, promises of free college for illegal immigrants, and legalized pot.
There are more Democrats running against Nancy Pelosi than there are against George W. Bush. And the only ones who have a chance are Democrats like Bennet and Manchin who have to lie about their positions in hopes of suckering enough dim-witted voters into thinking they won't be rubber stamps for Chuck Schumer and Obama.
Even if Republicans don't win in a blow-out, the fact that Democrats had to convince voters that they hate Pelosi and Obama in order to win speaks volumes about this regime and its agenda.

Finally, as PPP is seeing across the country, the closer to the election we get the more. Democratic voters are tuning in. In August those planning to vote in Pennsylvania this fall reported having voted for John McCain by a 1 point margin in 2008. Now the likely voter poll for this year supported Barack Obama by 4 points. That still suggests a large drop in Democratic turnout from 2008, but it may not be quite as dramatic as it appeared over the summer.

Found it. 73% of PPP's poll is composed of people 46 and UP. 46-65 were 46% of their poll. While that is very high, 100% of that could be 65 year olds. Also the poll wasn't spoken but was push the button type poll.
Only 30% are ages 30-45. They polled old people who still think FDR is alive.

As for repealing Health Scam until after the 2012 elections there is no way possible. If Republicans won every open seat there is in the Senate this year they still would not have enough votes to override a veto.
The best option for getting rid of healthscam is defunding it via the House budget process.
