Being from Delaware, I've been bracing or the worst. But this same group (Tea Party Express) accurately predicted her chances in the primary. And I noticed the state GOP go into overtime after that poll was announced, so they apparantly saw merit in it. And as we know, she did edge Castle.

This poll also would explain why Coons is on the attack and running away from Obama on the Bush tax cuts.

What I find curious is what they're doing differently from Reichmussen.

She knew the rules. She should have just said, "Ooops. I reacted quickly to a note being handed to me without thinking. My mistake, and I apologize." And the staff member could be reprimanded. But over-punishing an underling in an attempt to inoculate yourself stinks.

24 It's hard to get too worked up about a candidate cheating by reading a text message during one of these phony fucking "debates".  If you're going to have a debate, let's get it on.  No rules.  If you want to stomp over and fake punch your opponent to make him flinch on camera, hell yes.  If you want to make fart noises into the microphone while the other guy talks, go for it.  They may as well make their recitation of talking points entertaining.

One lesson I think to take from the campaign the Democrats ran in 2006/8 is run with every negative story you can find about the opposition party. It helps create the notion that they have a "culture of corruption".

And one of the benefits of being on the right is we have so much more real scandal to work with. But there is no reason to not throw everything we've got - from the Walpin firing on down...

It is frustrating that this will work in some cases, at least. If you don't like the Obama or Pelosi agenda, why would you vote for a Democrat? Even if it was accurate (and it probably isn't), being down 6 points less than 6 days before the election isn't something to crow about.

Yes and no. I would be amazed if C'OD pulled out a victory because all of the Democrat heavy guns are aimed at her. You are right about internal polls, and even a 6 point loss is still a loss.

However, if a below average candidate, who is viewed as "far right" in a far left state, and who is the primary lightning rod in this campaign is able to keep her loss fairly close it means that the Republicans truly have a mandate to pursue "very" conservative positions in non-crazy non-leftwing America...

I used to think that but Charlie Cook put me some knowledge a few weeks ago, discussing polls. He says 50% of media (independent) polls are pure crap because no one pays enough money to do them properly. Another 25% are mediocre. Only 25% are worth a damn. Meanwhile, he says he'd trust an internal poll by a reputable firm over most media polls. One caveat, though, is that the campaigns cherry-pick which polls to release. Let's say they're doing good, solid professional polls, but they have three: One putting their candidate down 12, one 10, and one six. Now, best guess, the candidate is down 10 or so. But of course they publicize the one that says she's down six.

44 As for internal polls, Cook does put more stock in them (as noted above) and others say they are about 3 points in favor of their own. So giving that, O'Donnell is down 9. That is a big deal. Single digits means winnable. The polls that put her down greater numbers (including Ras) all are showing higher Dem votes that Repubs ... by a lot. That's historically true ... but his election is about to add a new wrinkle to history. O'Donnell is poised to be the biggest story of an already huge story.

I'm not crowing.

Being down six points in a blue state where your opponent has been bringing in the President, VP and a line of Senators and "press' (Rachel Maddow) is not meaningless. Add to that the collusion of the national AND local press.

And I noted that this same group managed to publish a poll during the primary that turned out to be very accurate after the fact, and which was taken very seriously by the state GOP beforehand.

If this poll is as viable as that prior poll, then this is far closer than anyone thought. Coons' current actions seem to resemble the state GOP; ramp up the attacks and even run away from the President.

 

You didn't listen to these polls or people from Delaware during the primary, and see how well that approach turned out. You want to ignore this again and rely on your attitide and snark? Feel free. She's still far behind. but unless these signs are dramatically different from what we've already witnessed, something weird is going on here. Again.

This is beautiful; Sink keeps making up lies before she knows what CNN has on her. First she said her aid "tried" to communicate with her, apparently not knowing she was on tape reading the message. Then she tried claiming the make-up artist said she didn't know who the message was from, not knowing CNN had audio of what the make-up artist actually said.

I can see two possible TV ads her opponent can make out of this.

"If she'll lie like this when she's on tape, imagine what lies she'll tell you about what she does when she's out of your sight."

"Do Floridians really want a governor so stupid she'll make up lies not knowing she's on tape with audio even though she's in a TV studio?"
