Smartest Administration Evah Can't Get Oval Office Rug Quote Attribution Right
— DrewM

I can't wait to see how Obama tries to blame this on the previous administration.

A mistake has been made in the Oval Office makeover that goes beyond the beige.

President Obama's new presidential rug seemed beyond reproach, with quotations from Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. woven along its curved edge.

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." According media reports, this quote keeping Obama company on his wheat-colored carpet is from King.

Except it's not a King quote. The words belong to a long-gone Bostonian champion of social progress. His roots in the republic ran so deep that his grandfather commanded the Minutemen at the Battle of Lexington.

For the record, Theodore Parker is your man, President Obama.

Just add it to the list of "If Bush had done it...."

Addition by lauraw: On Twitter, the Obama Rug Quotes thread.

My favorites so far, from Nathan Wurtzel:

"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads." - Senator Edward Kennedy #ObamaRugQuotes

"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, hear the lamentations of their women." - Mohandas Gandhi #ObamaRugQuotes

6 Drew Parker had a different quote. "I do not pretend to understand the moral universe. The arc is a long one. My eye reaches but little ways. I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by experience of sight. I can divine it by conscience. And from what I see I am sure it bends toward justice." That is what the great liberal progressive Abolitionist preacher said in his sermon. Drew don't you ever fact check ?? A bit of a hair trigger on this.

14 Odumbo strikes again.

What's he going to do when he figures out it was some white guy preacher whose quote he stole.

MLK was a big fan of Parker, said so on several occasions, and often quoted him, with attribution, I might add. Parker was an abolitionist, a white guy appalled by slavery.

More than can be said about the Democrats in the mid 1800s.

I hope it's no raaaaacist, but Rev. King has been lionized far beyond his deeds. Hell, so was JFK, and the current Oval Office carpet failure. this argument "what if Bush had done it", or "what if FOX had said it" is getting old ... we're tired of it

or something like that.  I heard it from Bill on Red Eye and then some white haired guy on a FOX panel this morning.

Of course that is no reason to quit using it, there is a valid point that they of course would rather we quit reminding them of.  And their "it's Bush's fault" mantra is part of their religion, so don't expect that to die.

Ace and fellow morons / moronettes,

Laugh all you want / can now.  Next week Obama (and the smartest administration evah) is going to announce a new set of 'programs' or 'policies' to solve our economy woes.

After the outgoing Christina Romer confessed they had no idea what happened, and they had run out of ideas.

After she said they 'gave it their best shots' in this past 19 - 20 months.  (from HotAir)

IF even their guy (Romer) called their 'best' solutions doing diddly squat, what would you think the new solutions next week would be called?

"OUR NEXT BEST SHOT"? or Do they finally admit they slept in the Holiday Inn Express?
