11 Here's another data point:  I went to the Halloween Haunt at Knott's Berry Farm last night.  (Had an absolute blast!  The drizzling rain really added to the creepy ambiance.) One of the stage shows is called "The Hanging".  If you're planning to hit the Haunt and think a description of the show might be a spoiler for you, I'll have mercy by turning the text white. Highlight to read, if you wish.

The skit is pretty incoherent, though it has some funny bits -- it's mainly a pastiche of current TV shows like The Jersey Shore and Glee, and it takes a really good shot at Disneyland -- but at one point Obama and Biden come on stage in response to a crisis, and all Obama character can do is try to find someone else to blame "before my approval rating goes any further down the crapper!".  Biden goes around saying "Big Freakin' Deal!"  The actor's hair looks like Bill Clinton's than ol' PPlugs's, but he was obviously playing Biden, with a big white "VP" painted on the back of his suit coat.  There was one very short Tea Party joke -- Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter character appeared briefly with a Sarah Palin sign -- and there was a brief appearance by a "Governator" impersonator, but the skit writers goofed on Obama way more.  Some of the audience cheered Obama's appearance briefly, but the whole audience laughed at the jokes at his expense.

The times, they are a-changin'!  Keep the faith and stay strong!

This.  I'm a huge Hartman fan and that era, from about '86 to '93, was when the show hit its stride for the first time since the 70s.

Hartman's Clinton was one of the best impressions I can think of, with the trip to McDonald's to talk with the voters being a classic.  "This Filet-O-Fish, aid from Italy *pulls off tray* sent to Somalia *shoves in his mouth* intercepted by warlords!"

60 I have the first season of SNL on DVD. I love the Samaria sketches. I missed the opening season while I was overseas. After reviewing it decades later I will say I thought it was about 25% funny, meaning 25% of the sketches were really funny. Another 25% were do so and 50% were teh suck.

Some of the stuff was just stupid like the amateur videos and Mr.Bill clay figure. But 25% for a one hour comedy show is a pretty good average. I watched the show up through the 80s when ever I was able and what I saw was it went steadily downhill regardless of who was on it.

I especially thought that douche bag Frankin sucked bad. By the mid 80s I just quit watching it all together. It had reached ultimate shitdom.

That was what they told me.  I guess it follows sports and they both in their own homes must have been making their dinner and left 60 minutes on.  The way it was described to me is that they suddenly looked over and before you know it they were just sitting down and staring.  They both in their own words actually said to me "if you saw that you would not spend a single penny that you absolutely didn't have to spend, you would only buy food and gas, no extras, that was horribly frightening"...so I'm hoping it repeats so I can see it.

I have talked till I'm blue to these two and sixty minutes finally made my point.
