— Ace Remember her?
Lifelong Democrat/Green not a fan of Obama, and open to a GOP Congress.
Singer Sophie B. Hawkins told The Hill on Thursday that "America's being thrown under the bus" by President Barack Obama as he presses forward with his agenda and comes under criticism for his response to the Gulf oil spill....
The singer campaigned on the trail with Hillary Rodham Clinton during her presidential campaign, and told The Hil that she "never believed in [Obama's] philosophy" -- which she said runs contrary to her beliefs in "smaller government, smart government, flexible government.""I think the writing was on the wall," Hawkins said. "I honestly couldn't believe so many people were into him."
She describes herself as a centrist who's identified with the Democratic and Green parties, but said even though she's never been Republican she wouldn't cross that vote off the list if the right leader came along.
In fact, she's open to a Republican Congress.
"I want the Congress that really is going to listen to the people," she said. "I really don't care what party it is anymore."
Hawkins said she attended a Tea Party rally in Santa Monica, Calif., that was "mostly all Democrats."
There are more derogatory quotes from the singer in the article, but I can't quote it all.

There's some oxymoron if I ever saw them - "smart government, flexible government". Can anybody think of anything the government hasn't made worse in some fashion or another?
Of course the dirt-stealing Radish sums it all up succinctly with:
She campaigned for Hillary but claims she believes in smaller government?
"Smaller government" - I don't think that phrase means what Hawkins thinks it means.

Peaches -- HillBuzz went through the same transition I went through. I am older than the guys run HillBuzz, but what conservatives hopefully will realise is that most americans in their hearts are conservative. To be a conservative means you believe in the founding principles of this country, conservatism is americanism
What people like me have a bad taste about is republicans, for example, I really like Jim Demint, I see him as a conservative first, defending the US Constitution, I don't see him as a republican first. But, on the other hand I see Snow as a republican and just a conservative in name only. I am not a fan of hers.
People like HB and other moderate centerists are finally seeing this. And the main point of contention in conservatism is the social issues, if those are not made the main thrust of the argument, people will flee liberalism even faster.
The LSM has defined Conservative values as mainly social conservatism, and while that is a part of that, that is not the main part of it. Like I said, I am not a social conservative, I am not a social liberal either, frankly I am a social centerist.
But I am very conservative when it comes to fiscal policy, national defense policies, no judicial activism, adherenace to the US Constitution, respect for the 10th amendent.
Where does that put me? 2 years I out campaigning for Hillary, fundraising for her. Now, I have realised, she is just progressive-lite, the Obama plans will still be her plans, just drawn out over a longer period of time.
Frankly, I see the same in Mitt Romney, he won't do a "You shall not pass" aka Lord of the Rings Gandolf-style blocking of the chipping away of the US Constitution, he will be fighting it around the edges, rather than going for the heart of the liberal big spending policies.
This is no longer about fighting around the edges, the core itself has to be returned to smaller govt, indiv rights, free market principles. Will there be pain? oh yes, but if this course is not reversed, then that pain will be expotenially higher.
--just my humble opinion

As already mentioned by others, Shrillary's attitude is the exact opposite of this. The only good part about Shrillary is that she would not have been even half as dangerous to the US as The Precedent, since Shrillary is an actual American who is, much to her own chagrin, subconsciously bound to certain American cultural mores and taboos. Shrillary would have let the health scare die even before the Town Halls, as she did the last time. Shrillary would love to do everything the same as The Precedent has been doing, but Shrillary just didn't have it in her to push things even nearly that far. That is the main difference between having a natural born citizen in the White House and a foreigner. That is what the Founders worked hard to prevent.
But Shrillary loves big government as much as anyone. She loves the Palis as much as anyone. She dislikes Israel as much as anyone. Shrillary just didn't have the personality to carry out her own wishes. Of course, after the deadly precedents have been set by THe Precedent, even natural born citizens will no longer be bound by the deeply ingrained AMerican traditions and taboos that have now been tossed aside, in full view. This is the irreparable damage that has been done to our nation, and why many of us fought so strenuously to have the 'natural born citizen' clause taken seriously.
Anyone who supported Shrillary cannot claim that they always wanted limited government. They might want it now, but support for Shrillary was support for socialism.

This is where you come in as one of the most crucial weapons- and I mean that word exactly- against what's going on.
Here's why- it's a tough sell for non-converts. Many of us are either lifers or found our way to the right early on, and didn't necessarily go through the awakening that folks like you did later in life.
With that being the case, it's difficult for a lot of libertarians and conservatives to speak to liberals in their language in a non-ironic way; in a way that beckons them away from what they know. You get it- you know that conservatism is not purely a social path; it's the other legs of conservatism that drive it.
To the rest of the crew- that's not to diminish social conservatives in the least, though I am not a social conservative. It's purely that in order to sell conservatism to people who can be converted, it's easier (and in my experience more effective) to sell them on the fiscal stuff and defense stuff than known social hot-button issues.

All this will be forgotten in the end. They'll come up with a way to continue supporting the same old policies they always supported when it's time to pull the lever. She's obviously confused, anyway. She wants a small government but campaigns for Hillary? That shows she doesn't know what she's doing. She wants a small government, but a "smart" government -- i.e., one that has tremendous control over things but shows little presence. That shows she wants to have her cake but eat it too. She says she's a "centrist", but is a Manhattan artiste chick, and a lesbian mom sleeping with another said Manhattan artiste chick, which is to show that she's got a really skewed view of what the center is in American life.

Careful ace, you wouldn't want to expose their nice safe myth that the tea party has no dems, no libs, no independents only "bible thumping, gun toting right wingers".....If they can't believe that, it's going to crush their little spirits...
I said when carville came out that the hillary push had started. Monica bought it forward on her show yesterday. She said "why didn't carville just call the president privately and not make a huge issue out of the viral video?"...She also takes it as a sign of the hillary push and this furthers the signs. Monica felt that hillary is just as troublesome and needs to be diverted early on, before the campaign takes over.

Clyburn: Stop talk of 'cutting taxes, cutting taxes, cutting taxes'
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) charged Sunday that Republicans need to stop talking about cutting taxes and "look to the future with a little more compassion and bipartisanship."...
Right, the Repubs should show as much "compassion and bipartisanship" as the Dems did during the Suckulus and Obamacare debates...oh wait, that was precisely zero of either, right?! I wish the Repubs has such fortitude to give as was given to them.
Clyburn charged that Republicans were approaching economic recovery with "a simplistic approach." "Let's stop talk about cuttting taxes, cutting taxes, cutting taxes," he said.Unlike the complex approach the Dems are utilizing, such as taxing the hell out everything including carbon dioxide, and nationalizing as many industries as they can.

Frankly, I didn't realise these loonies were in my party, or probably I didn't think they would get one of their own in charge.
Most moderate/centerist/conservative dems make up most the of the dem party. Again, I say, they are not against conservative principles, they have a bad taste against republicans, not conservatives.
Also, another point I wish conservatives realise is that you have allowed the LSM to define Conservative entirely as Social conservativism and that this SC is the main thrust of conservatism.
I was one of them b/c I am not pro-life, but I am pro-choice. But I am more of a centerist when it comes to social issues as well. However, I am very conservative when it comes to every other issue.
Most independents, which is what I am now registered as, are liberatarian/conservatives. To them Social issues are not that hugely imporantant as long as social policies are not shoved on them. That is not their main concern.

You're absolutely right that it was easy to see what the Indonesian Imbecile was about. No real conservative voted for him - no real conservative could have - but those who call themselves conservatives and voted for him did so for nothing other than white guilt or black pride, since he stood for everything that is contrary to conservativism. One could not get any more of an opposite to conservative ideas and values than with the Indonesian. I offer none of them any quarter.

Also, the idea that the lib part of the dem party is a small faction doesn't resonate with me. It feels like the conservative faction of the dems is 10% and the rest have become uber libs....(just based on my own observations in my own circle). But, if they are that small they are just like the unions, "a small faction but a big bully"
Honestly I think regular people are afraid to "get involved", they are afraid for their own safety so they stay out of everything.

Many of us predicted this, that as the feral government took over health insurance, it would feel it had the right to take over everything that might be argued to even seem to impinge on health care costs. I am surprised that it started happening this quickly. The Indonesian Imbecile and his junta of useful idiots feel themselves untouchable - thanks in no small part to the fact that people are still treating the retard as if he even had half a brain. He doesn't. He's a joke and it's about time that asswipes like Krauthammer stopped talking about how he is "intelligent" (which is totally fucking laughable, to begin with) and started speaking the truth about how The Precedent has the mind of a slow 8th grader - along with his obviously treasonous attitude, policies, and statements. He is an enemy and it would be nice if some would say it ... someday.

Questions for Obama and the corruptcrats:
Taxes
Tax proposals in haywire fashion are thrown out almost every day from various Obamians, as if at a faculty bull session over coffee. Can we count them all — much less can small businesses plan to hire a worker when they don’t know how much more they will shortly owe the government?
Here is what we hear from Barack Obama: a restoration of the death tax. Trial balloons for a national sales tax or a VAT. How high will capital gains hikes go? Rates are to go back to or beyond (?) the Clinton income tax schedules? Was the cap to come off income exposed to the full FICA bite, and was it to be set at $150,000, $200,000, or $250,000? What exactly is the new health care surcharge? And when and if these federal income hikes are added to the states’ raises in state income, property, and sales taxes, what will the aggregate tax bite be? Does anyone know? Do any of these guys care how “they” are going to make enough money to pay “us”?
etc.Posted by: Lemon Kitten at June 13, 2010 01:49 PM (0fzsA)

As I noted Tuesday, there is growing evidence that BP's oil well - technically called the "well casing" or "well bore" - has suffered damage beneath the level of the sea floor.
The evidence is growing stronger and stronger that there is substantial damage beneath the sea floor. Indeed, it appears that BP officials themselves have admitted to such damage. This has enormous impacts on both the amount of oil leaking into the Gulf, and the prospects for quickly stopping the leak this summer.
I think its time we nuke this from space.

Why did people vote for Obama?
That's a good question. It's a question we should answer to figure out why we lost and how we can win.
My answer...
The Democrats spent 7 1/2 years brainwashing people against Bush. They convinced the people that Bush fucked up everything. The economy, the environment, foreign policy, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, everything.
Along comes Obama. Smooth talking young stud. Full of confidence. Has an answer for everything. He was Mr Fix-it. He said as much, too. Obama had a solution for everything. Obama said he was gonna increase entiltelements at the same time he promised to cut taxes and lower Bush's deficit. Obama said he'd do a better job fighting terrorism while he also said he'd close Gitmo and bug out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama said he'd get us off oil while he promised to lower energy costs. And on and on Obama went with his lies and contradictions.
The Democrats created a false sense of doom and then they provided a messiah to deliver us from Hell. In other words, the American people were hoodwinked, bamboozled, snookered...

(Kinda funny) story. Well, I laughed, anyway. Back in sophomore year of high school, we're taking a biology test and it's completely silent; you could hear a pin drop. Half way through, the widely acknowledged "hottest guy in school" (football star, chick-magnet, etc., etc.) comes up to the front of the class to turn in his test. My friend, who I was sitting next to, just cuts through the silence all of the sudden and exclaims: "Daaaaaamn! I wish I was your lover!"
Nobody reacted, not even the guy.
It was one of those bizarre "and we never spoke of it again" moments.

“It was a mysterious deal,” Mr. Axelrod told David Gregory on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” doubtless sharing a view held by many of the state’s Democrats Asked whether the nominee, Alvin Greene, was a legitimate candidate, Mr. Axelrod replied, “It doesn’t appear so.”
Mr. Greene, as Mr. Axelrod noted, had barely campaigned — perhaps not surprising, since he had raised no campaign funds and had hired no staff.
“The whole thing is odd,” Mr. Axelrod said. “I don’t really know how to explain it, and I don’t think anybody else does either.”

Don't forget the coordinated take-down of Sarah Palin and the astroturfing.

Somehow, I don't think that "Bush screwed it up, but we made it much worse" is a winning campaign slogan. I'm all for those Bush deficits, five percent unemployment, and foreigners hating us just like they still do.
