And, to keep it all political and topical-y, the Budweiser ad was in Spanish.

'Star Wars is adolescent nonsense; Close Encounters is obscurantist drivel; 'Star Trek' can turn your brains to purée of bat guano; and the greatest science fiction series of all time is 'Doctor Who!' And I'll take you all on, one-by-one or in a bunch to back it up!

The Japanese government on Thursday welcomed news that the a U.S. ambassador will for the first time attend the annual commemoration of the U.S. dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima in 1945.
The State Department announced that Ambassador John Roos would represent the U.S. at the August 6 event at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, “to express respect for all of the victims of World War II.”
Asked why the gesture was being made at this time, spokesman Philip Crowley said, “At this particular point, we thought it was the right thing to do.”

If I remember Star Wars cannon correctly, the ISTs were only clones until the end of the Clone Wars. After that, they were comprised of normal humans.
The ISTs might have fared a bit better in combat if they had better armor. One shot to the leg = death. And if they can be defeated by Ewoks in hand-to-hand combat...

LOL, Jane the last time I road BART I had taken my wife out to CA to visit old friends and show her around my old hangouts. We spent a day walking around SF and took the BART back to Oakland to go to a restaurant I used to like there in Jack London Square.
Well we got off the BART at the station at the corner of Boradway and 14th street which is about 4 or 5 blocks from the square and we walking down the street toward the square when a bus came by which we got on.
The driver wanted to know what two white people were doing walking down Broadway after dark and if we were trying to commit suicide. This was around 1985. Things had changed a lot since I had left in 1977.
And the restaurant was no longer there and none of my old hangouts.

Ms. Fitzgerald trusted the outsourced tech so much, what could go wrong. She never attempted contacting Dell again until Mr. Shaikh dropped her for another stooge literally at her expense.
They were extremely personal pictures intended only for her boyfriend.
"I couldn't find them on my computer and that made me nervous," said Fitzgerald. So she called Dell support for help with her new Dell computer and delicate problem. She was connected to a Dell support contractor in Mumbai, India named Riyaz Shaikh. "I trusted him. I trusted him because he was a Dell technician and I don't like the cyberworld, you're so vulnerable," said Fitzgerald. She gave the technician permission to access her computer remotely and watched as he found the pictures and downloaded them. Dell has not issued a formal response to Fitzgerald's claims. She says she has contacted an attorney and is considering legal action against Dell.

Now the Detroit Free Press is reporting that a United Auto Workers union member named Mark Steffek has filed papers with the state announcing that this so-called Tea Party has had a “convention” and is fielding a slate of candidates for the 2010 elections.
One thing is odd about this supposed slate of candidates from this new “Tea Party” political party, though. It appears that the only places that the new party is fielding candidates just happens to be in districts where Republicans just might pick up a seat.
Watch out for the fake tea party candidates.Posted by: Guy Fawkes at July 29, 2010 02:30 PM (yT8z7)

Ogabe is pushing to force ISPs to give the Feds access to anyone's web habits, data....
They told me Bush was a horribly corrupt domestic spy and that if I voted for John McCain the Feds would get even more intrusive with regards to virtual privacy....
AND THEY WERE RIGHT!
so to summarize what we've learned this week.....
people here illegally are having their civil rights violated and unduly burdened being asked to provide proof of legal residency which Federal law mandates must be on an immigrant at all times, BUT Bury and DoJ simultaneously think it is not an undue burden to read breitbart's e-mail.

Feds want to let FBI access peopleÂ’s Internet data without probable cause
Not all data, mind you. The new rule wouldn’t reach the content of e-mail messages, but it would let them find out whom you’re e-mailing, when you’re e-mailing, and, er, “possibly” which websites you’re looking at and which Google searches you’re running

E Kagan: these wiretaps and internet studies without warrants were absolutely illegal from 9/14/01 to Jan 2009, not they are justified and in the event we ever allow another election to go against us they will be illegal in the Jan. after the election for another 4-8-12-16 years depending on how long we're out of power.

Top 5 Social Security Myths
Myth #1: Social Security is going broke.
Reality: There is no Social Security crisis. By 2023, Social Security will have a $4.6 trillion surplus (yes, trillion with a 'T'). It can pay out all scheduled benefits for the next quarter-century with no changes whatsoever.1 After 2037, it'll still be able to pay out 75% of scheduled benefits—and again, that's without any changes. The program started preparing for the Baby Boomers' retirement decades ago.2 Anyone who insists Social Security is broke probably wants to break it themselves.

ah yes, "we started preparing for it decades ago"....er yeah by having the Democrat ran house back in '68 formally codify SS going into the General fund they did indeed "start preparing"....

The two things that made delivering/picking up there even partially worthwhile were that I got to see The Twin Towers and fucking with the cocksuckers on the docks.
I'd hit the dock and immediately upon hearing my Southern accented voice and rate of speech, they'd think me a retarded rube and give me that fucking bullshit NY/NJ attitude and gaff me off.
That's where I'd give them a double dose of the attitude, complete with exaggerated accent, and usually get moved to the front of the line ahead of the other drivers who didn't have the balls or ability to parrot their bullshit right back at them.

Pay no attention to the crushing choke hold that liability is placing on the budget; Never mind the deficit has slit the throat of our currency and we are watching it quiver and bleed out on the floor as the eyes growing ever more lifeless look up and wonder "why?"; ignore that and take that blood spilling onto your boots, splash it on your sunglasses, and sure, looking rosey through the crimson tint of the life force of a dying economy, SS can pay its bills.
Hoorah. We are saved.

France on the other hand won't let us in wihtout proper documentation..
France’s President Sarkozy promised a crackdown against delinquency last week. Now he has ordered the dismantling of some 300 illegal camps of travellers and Roma across France, with the immediate deportation of anyone found without papers. The announcement came after a special ministerial meeting in Paris to discuss the Roma “problem”. “We will proceed with the almost immediate deportation of the Romas who have disturbed public order or have committed fraud, to Bulgaria or Romania,” said Interior Minister Bruce Hortefeux

Ah ah ah! I often take a pass on the stuff that reflects well on Palin.
For example, when there was a PPP poll suggesting that Palin's endorsement of Kelly Ayotte was hurting her, I shouted it from the rafters, but when another PPP poll later showed the opposite, that Ayotte was surging, I couldn't be bothered.
