— Monty Metallica covering "Whiskey in the Jar" live in Dublin, and Pecker Dunne doing the same song in the traditional fashion. A peace offering to the tipplers among us.

Like Celine Dion's early English-language work.
I find it difficult to believe that the lads of Metallica have never heard of this thing you people call "wee-skee." Or "jar."

Right on!
There's a noticeable change in their sound when Bob Rock came aboard and produced their next few albums. It was a direction that I didn't care for when there was absolutely nothing wrong with their style before.

How did this thread magically appear in the middle of these 2 other threads
massive amounts of poteen will do that. And many other wondrous things.
my favorite version is actually "Whiskey you're the devil", by Liam Clancy. A line in it makes reference to 'whiskey in the jar'.

Any of the Live Shit, Binge and Purge videos would've shown him chuggin' on stage. Waaay more fun!

Anything after And Justice For All sucks.
But especially anything (like this) load and post load sucks irredeemably.
And this song in particular by the rapidly aging hard-pop-rock sellouts formerly known as Metallica, sucks in an undescribably major way.
In fact, do not even speak to me of there being some band called 'metallica' past 1989. I refute it. There was not.

And Justice for All has some badass songs on it - Shortest Straw, Frayed Ends of Sanity... but it's not as good on the whole as earlier albums.
Everything really went to straight shit starting with the Black Album.
At first, I thought the black album (while clearly being the worst and probably coming on the heals of the second worst) wasn't neccesssarily bad perse.
But watching where it's gone from there is so bad, so completely terrible, so insanely horrible, that I even swore off Kill 'em All for like 5 years out of pure disgust.

I don't really believe you, but even if you're right, they're still decrepit old douchetools and about 4 albums (and 16 remastered remasters of said albums) late.
Screw em.
It's the only things scandis are good for anyway:

Besides.. they actually made an unforgiven III.
Because the first two times sucked so exquisitely they just had to suck some more.
