— Ace So what do you do?
GimpelÂ’s solution to all of this: There is none, at least not anytime soon. Nominating Latino candidates doesnÂ’t seem to help Republicans (Ted Cruz lost the Latino vote in his Senate race two years ago, even in deep-red Texas), nor does taking different positions on illegal immigration. The only thing to do is Â… wait....
Wait a generation or two for low-skilled, Democratic-voting immigrants to have kids who grow up to become middle-class independents and then youÂ’ve got a shot. In the meantime, gulp.
There is one possible solution, but it relies entirely upon external events: If something happens to discredit progressivism (such as a new recession) to make immigrant populations actually begin to doubt their preferred big government, big spending solutions, there's hope of a realignment.
But that, of course, is entirely outside our control.* It's basically hoping for a Miracle (though a dark one).
* Except, of course, for our ability to sabotage the economy by speaking badly about it and hoping for Obamacare to fail.
Progressives have long asserted that prayer doesn't work, except in the case of conservative "prayers" for a failing economy and failing Healthcare.gov, in which case "prayer" works wonders and changes the world.

Well, yeah. Wait and persuade. Assimilate the immigrants. Our belief in free markets is a successful cultural artifact. When immigrants become truly American they will be able to think in American terms and be persuaded by experience and culture that economic freedom works better for them as it does for everyone.
Pandering is useless, misguided and wrong.

It will never happen. Immigrants now come to our Country not because its the land of opportunity but because its the land of entitlements when opportunity does not pan out.
Instead of them being forced to assimilate , we are forced to accomodate.
Until entitlements are reduced and assimilation is required to survive, immigrants will remain 2 to 1 Democrat.

Only one solution and that solution is basicly waiting and hoping for the best???
How about making an end to immigration, legal and illegal alike? This isnt the 19th century, we dont need hordes of people to fill up empty space in a continental-sized Republic. Our immigration debate suffers severely because people on our side keep babbling about the things the cant be done (like deporting illegals). I wish somebody like Ted Cruz would tell the middle position to go f*** itself and take a chance with a radically different stand; one that could actually change the debate.

So what I'd be told as a newly arrived Hispanic immigrant in the USA would be that there are Party D and Party R.
Party D says they'll give me all kinds of cool free shit just for asking. Because of my ethnic background, Party D will jump me to the head of the queue for government jobs, private sector jobs, promotions, and university applications. Party D impose quotas to ensure that people like me get our "fair share". Plus, Party D will excuse any bad behavior or poor life choices that I make, because I'm an "underprivileged minority".
Meanwhile, Party R expect me to work for a living and to be treated exactly the same as everyone else, with no excuses and no preferential ethnic treatment.
So I don't know about you, but me? I would pull the lever for Party D until my damn arm fell off. Just as a matter of rude realistic self-aggrandizing human behavior.

The solution is rather simple: fix Mexico.
They have already begun on their own initiative by opening up their oil fields to foreign investment for the first time since the '30s. Mexico is waiting to boom. When that happens we'll probably see net migration back.

See also Heather MacDonald's essay on "Hispanic Family Values" for a primer on how incredibly fast the American welfare state absorbs those so-called "natural conservatives" once they become citizens and fully eligible for benefits.
Here in the SF Bay Area, there's a place I occasionally drive by which is a city welfare benefit office. The street outside has a big sign reading "Centro Del Servicios", in just that one language.
Every time I go by there, there is a gaggle of Hispanic girls, not a one of them old enough to be a high school graduate, there with the baby strollers, heading in to get mas servicios for themselves.
First things in the English language that immigrants learn now are the alphabet-soup welfare state acronyms. EBT. WIC. SNAP. SSI. AFDC.

Its not even reasonable accomodation for immigrants or illegals. Its goes beyond the ridiculousness.
That we even have discussions on permitting illegals to obtain driver's licenses is absurd. That government forms are required to be available in dozens of languages is ludicrous. That law enforcement is barred from asking resident status is outrageous. Up is down and down is up.

If immigrants are voting against the GOP, then the GOP must pursue immigration policies that select for GOP-leaning immigrants. This means an end to chain immigration. It means being selective in who is allowed in. Policies like any would-be immigrants must be proficient in English. That they be ineligible for public assistance (welfare, etc.). That they be knowledgeable about the history of our country and its constitution.
It's not complicated, unless you are the kind of Republican that would rather hang yourself rather than appear to be too mean.

Mexico is a fucked country because back in the 20s they went full socialism, nationalized every thing, and began a de facto caste system with very wealthy people on top and the permanent poor on bottom.
The poor rightly said "fuck this noise" and headed north. Mexico has vast natural resources that are untapped as well as huge labor pools. If Mexico gets better, so do we. There's not much we can directly do, and fuck pandering, but if and when they get their shit together, do you think Jesus will come north where he gets paid $5 an hour for yard work or stay at home in the oilfields where he can make $50?

Of course, what's actually happening is that Mexico is annexing the southern US, and the cartels are expanding hugely onto US soil.
I occasionally hear rumblings to the effect that LAPD Internal Affairs produced an eyes-only report for their police commission.
Saying that they had been worried about the possibility of cartel penetration of Stateside law enforcement. Only to find, when they looked, that what they had imagined to be a hypothetical future possibility was in fact a concrete present reality.
Dozens of LEOs, including many who had been fast tracked into command ranks for "diversity" purposes, turned out to have not very well concealed cartel ties.

There is a reason there are so few competitive CDs. It is neither party's interest to have a bunch of 50/50 CDs. Costs too much money to contest every two years. Both parties prefer stasis and will draw CD boundaries in such a way as to keep stasis. IAC, Trende makes the point in his article that when you break the numbers down according to actual historical data on immigrant voting patterns, in the state with the most undocumented immigrants, Nevada, Obama would have netted out another 17,000 votes. Big whoop. So his margin goes up a point and a half.
The Dems want the issue, not the voters. The voters only pad the margin they've already got in these states but the issue turns moderate whites and young voters off the Republican party. And there are a hell of a lot more already existing moderate white voters to be persuaded than any amnesty would create new Latino voters. the issue is what they want and some on our side are more than delighted to play the part of nativist bigot and give them that issue.

Asians vote Dem for social/cultural reasons. Increasingly Asians (a category which includes South Asians) are non-Christian and see the GOP as the Christian party. Obama got 97% of the Pakistani and Bangladeshi immigrant vote, even higher than his percentage among blacks.
But every single 2016 GOP presidential candidate supports *increasing* legal immigration. Even though a majority of Americans wants it reduced. Because donor $, and GOP primary voters don't make them pay any consequence for it.

Plus, add in that the infrastructure makes it much more pleasant to be a peasant in the US than in Mexico. Most of the Mexicans coming north are from ethnic groups at the bottom of society there. The casting of the movie 'Spanglish' was absurd in asking the audience to believe the gorgeous Spanish actress Paz Vega was a poor Mexican applying for work as a maid.
It's kind of funny that when I go into a Vallarta (Mexican themed supermarket chain in Southern CA, with really good produce, deli, and butcher departments) store, none of the shoppers look anything like the celebrities on the covers of the Spanish language magazines by the registers.

One thing that I haven't considered is that they (he and his wife) don't speak much English, even after 35 or 40 years here, and they watch Spanish language TV and listen to Spanish radio, so their media sources are limited.

If at all possible, avoid fighting the enemy on ground of his choosing, which in this case means stop trying to pander to racial and ethnic demographic groups. Republicans cannot outpander Democrats, play off one group against another, or offer mountains of free shit. Therefore, there's nothing for it but to sell individual freedom, limited government, free market capitalism, and societal advancement by merit. Throw Martin Luther King at them, the idea where people are judged by content of character. Tell them the goal is a color-blind society.
The Democrats win on this partly because people want to identify with something greater than themselves. Point out that they are Americans, part of a great and ongoing experiment in human freedom, and there is nothing greater.
That sort of thing.

ITS ALL OVER
There is nothing... absolutely nothing you can do to save the country from becoming just another fkd up socialist state.
The US is corrupt, the government is nothing but a corrupt, crony operation that takes your money and gives it to an increasingly rich and smarter class of people who know how to Fk you out of it.
And, it is not Democrats or Republicans. They are all the same... they just activate "their" side by getting people all riled up about the other side while they rake in the $$$ millions no matter who is in charge... i.e. Karl Rove - Soros - Podesta - Romneys, Clintons, Bushs and Kennedys, etc.
In order to keep the whole scam going, the government/fed just keeps printing worthless dollars and eventually the whole thing will collapse.
My advice - buy some land in the country, buy a lot of guns and ammo, learn how to grow vegetables and how to raise and slaughter livestock and hope you die of old age before the people from the city come to take your stuff.
Its called the Decline and Fall of an Empire.... happens all the time... over and over in history. And this time, nothing will change that.
After all, we are still the same failed humans we have always been.
