1 Mr. Wednesday Night (Duke) 132 132
2 WunderKraut (Duke) 127 127
3 Little Miss Spellcheck (Duke) 118 118
Thank you all for playing. Fabulous prizes await you all.
So that's done, and we still have half a weekend to enjoy. I plan to crush weeds until they beg to live, which I will deny.
I hope you are all still having an awesome weekend yourselves.
I noticed this morning that conservatism as defined by the leftist media tools was represented by David Brooks and Kathleen Parker on Meet the Press today. Looking for the video if someone wants to put me some. Brooks' major unsupported assertion is that the college educated class is cool with government, but those who barely finished high school are deeply suspicious of government.
...
He probably means "and those with a degree from East Texas State" are like high school dopes.

Yeah, I finally find myself agreeing with Tiger.
It was pathetic listening to the guys on the Golf Channel defending the swearing/temper tantrums using the argument that you hear worse things in the NBA.
I can't believe golf really wants to relax its standards. Haven't they seen what's happened to tennis over the past 20 years?

Obama shouldn't attend Kaczynski's funeral. Poland has been defined by their suffering and struggles against Communists and state Socialism. Obama is the anthithesis of that. Having that bastard attend Kaczynski's funeral would be like Castro showing up for JFK's funeral.

Iran to complain to U.N. over Obama nuclear "threat"
TEHRAN (Reuters) – Iran will lodge a complaint with the United Nations about what it sees as U.S. President Barack Obama's threat to attack it with nuclear weapons, the foreign ministry said on Sunday.
Obama made clear last week that Iran and North Korea were excluded from new limits on the use of U.S. atomic weapons -- something Tehran interpreted as a threat from a long-standing adversary to attack it with nuclear bombs.
"The recent statement by the U.S. president ... implicitly intimidates the Iranian nation with the deployment of nuclear arms," Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a televised meeting with military and security officials.

I guess what Brooks is saying is, only those with an elite Ivy League education should be allowed to have the vote. The only thing wrong with his reasoning of course is how does he reconcile his theory above with the millions of urban and inner city folks that never attended college or finished high school who voted for Obama and are totally supportive of big government also?
Of course Brooks is a dumbass and a useful idiot so I'm not going to waste a whole lot of time trying to dive into his psyche. If I did I'd probably hit my head on a rock.

35 Did anyone watch SNL last night? That cold-open sketch was the most brutal attack on the Obama White House I have yet seen on a MSM show.
It bothered me that they laughed at all. I would expect that if HCR isn't repealed, it will become so unpopular that a sketch like this would be met with stoney silence.
Posted by: Cincinnatus at April 11, 2010 08:47 AM (euuyg)
When watching the cold-open sketch, pay close attention to the audience reaction. In the context of SNL's demographic, the entire program had a strong anti-Obama vibe. And subtly, pro-Palin. When Tina Fey finished her monologue with " and I'll dress up as Sarah Palin later", my jaw dropped.

I don't remember Carvey doing his impressions out of hatred or disgust. In fact, in one of his stand up routines he talked about going to the White House and meeting Bush, and he didn't say anything bad about George and Barbara. Said they were nice people. You don't even have to do that comparison. All the Daily Caller needs to do is show me that the RNC's fundraising operation is inefficient and out of line with acceptable practice for political fundraising. Don't tell me what the expenses were, tell me what the return on investment is... then show me that their ROI is much lower than that for political fundraising (including not just the DNC but PACs, campaign fundraising, etc).
Until then, I'm not outrageously outraged.

I have a nomination for the Official Brewery of AoS HQ: BrewDog Beer.
"In November BrewDog, a Scottish microbrewery started three years ago, released a new brand, dubbed Tactical Nuclear Penguin. The beer set a new record by weighing in at a scary 32% alcohol-by-volume, over six times the strength of familiar domestic brands like Budweiser. As explained on a cheeky video on the company's website (warning: the clip contains simulated penguin sex), the brewery was able to attain such a high alcohol content for its product by freezing the beer at a local ice cream factory, at temperatures as low as -6 degrees, for 21 days. Alcohol freezes at lower temperatures than water, and removing water from the solution increased the alcohol concentration...
In December BrewDog received a wrist-slap from a British alcohol regulatory body, the Portman Group, which ordered that retailers pull the company's 18.2% Tokyo beer brand off the shelves because of the its marketing tactics. A note on the Tokyo label says: "It is all about moderation. Everything in moderation, including moderation itself. What logically follows is that you must, from time, have excess. This beer is for those times." After the beer was pulled, BrewDog came out with a 1.1% alcohol by volume brew meant to tame the critics. Its name: Nanny State...
The drinking games continued in February when a German Brewer, Schorschbrau, released a 40% alcohol-by-volume beer called Schroschbock. The BrewDog boys fired back a few weeks later: it's latest high-octane concoction, Sink the Bismarck!, checks in at 41%, enough to reclaim the "world's strongest beer" mantle (the name is a not-so-subtle reference to the famous German battleship deployed during World War II)..."

Even though mental illness is a tragedy and all that, I'd kinda like Obama to go bat-shit crazier and run streaking nekid across Pennsylvania Ave at noon with marmalade smeared all over him. Then have the guys in the white coats throw a butterfly net over him and take him to the rubber room.
Just to watch Chris Mathews and Rachel Maddow try to explain it as smart power diplomacy.
Any farmer knows that being up to your ears in bullshit for years at a time can make you go crazy. I think Obama's bullshit is coming home to roost.

Posted by: jlfintx at April 11, 2010 09:50 AM (JtnAT)
Tina Fey is not funny. SNL hasn't been funny with their politics since Carvey was doing Bush 41. And when Carvey did it, you never got the sense the Carvey hated Bush 41. Finally, SNL also did a pretty good job then of crushing on Mike Dukakis and Lloyd Bensten.
I guess the comedians are right. There just isn't anything funny about Obama. (Obvious snark....ok)

I used to think Fey was pretty hot. I always liked her scar and she'd put on those glasses and get that whole hot librarian thing going.
She absolutely cannot hold a candle to Sarah, though. Most women can't. Sarah's like the Tsar Bomba of blazing hotness. Fey in comparison is a ladyfinger firecracker.

In order for parody and satire to be funny, you have to be able to disconnect yourself from the intended character you are portraying and make it so over the top that its unbelievable. Fey cant do that, her portrayals of Palin are so smug and condescending that you can tell she has come to harbor a lot of disdain for Palin personally which is why her portrayal of her now is not even close to being funny.

"Brooks' major unsupported assertion is that the college educated class is cool with government, but those who barely finished high school are deeply suspicious of government."
It's not just an unsupported assertion, it's a stupid and easily refutable one.
If education were the key, then why do lower-class urban dwellers, especially blacks, as well as union stiffs, favor Big Government? Why are so many conservatives wealthy AND educated? Where, exactly, do conservative judges come from?
And this "education" thing: Brooks is assuming that liberal education teaches logic, critical thinking, history, the facts about human nature, the premises behind the Constitution, etc. Which it no longer does.
Face it: Brooks couldn't find his ass with both hands, even if you gave him ice tongs to help extend his reach.

When he refused to cut his set short at Radio One's Spring Fest Concert in Miami on the evening of April 28, 2007, police presence escalated backstage. He became agitated after concert officials stopped his performance of "Buy You a Drink". Police chased T-Pain and his entourage out of the premises and detained them. After a June 2007 concert of T-Pain's, Tallahassee police issued a warrant for his arrest over a suspended driver's license. T-Pain turned himself into the Leon County Jail on November 2, 2007.

During Bush when we had 4% unemployment and steady 3.5% GDP growth, the MSM acted like a school bus full of kids just got eaten by the rancor in a hutt's pit. There was no end to the "it's gonna be horrible someday" articles. Now it really IS horrible and we get sunshine and roses.

The Busch boys aren't really popular. Bit of a cocky attitude. Arrogant streak. Got something of a chip on his shoulder because of losing his Hendrick seat to Earnhardt Jr. so that gets the Junior Nation against him completely. And other drivers have had negative views of his driving as well I believe which will then set their fans against him as well.

Considering that Republicans, on average, have a higher education level than Democrats, and that the Welfare-grabbing and big-government-loving minorities that the Dems adore above all else have a low average education level, I can't even understand Brooks' argument. It is that stupid.
And the fact that no one can even call them out on this on a prepared show like Meet the Press is quite pathetic.
Talking about Kathleen Parker is a waste of time. Dumb. Cunt. Mix and add water.

Hehe. One glorious time in high school, I spent the night with a friend whose parents were out of town. Somehow, at the end of the night, a girl ended up in the sack with me. Her parents, not knowing where she was, called the police. Long story shorter, my father and the police ended up outside the house. Funny enough (now), but then the next morning, I overheard my parents talking about it. My dad asked my mom "Has anything like this ever happened to you?" Needless to say, she was not pleased at the question.

I'm going with eitherTiger is such a remarkable athlete he was able to put the scandal behind him and perform to perfection. Or, Tiger was distracted because of the scandal, but the primary reason for his failure was the never ending public appearances of the evil whores. Not winning the Master's was not his fault.

This certainly explains Obama's disconnect with what Americans think of his policies and how he responds to them. What a nightmare. But we've known this for many months.

Elderly neighbors across the street. Salt of the earth and enormously kind to me and my kids. They still vote dem though--even though I've been telling them that FDR is dead. He was in the first wave at Normandy. The husband now has dementia and heart problems but still knows me. The lady fell yesterday morning and broke her pelvis. We thought it was her hip. I babysat the husband while the daughter rode in the ambulance with her mother. They only had basic cable so after sitting on the floor for two hours holding his hand, wiping his tears and assuring him that his wife would be ok we managed a little tv. The cooking show had a woman having orgasms over cuban sandwiches. I made them today--they are in the oven. The whole thing broke my heart.

Mickelson's a high risk player. Much of the time, he has the million dollar swing and the 10 cent mind, kind of like Daly. It worked out for him this time.
I saw him at Southern Hills. On 13--a par 5 dogleg left, up an over a hill at the mid point--he sliced so the inside of the corner.
Pop quiz, hotshot: You have an uphill lie with the ball above your feet. You're in the bermuda rough. You're not over the hill yet. You're not around the trees yet. You can't see the green which is guarded by two ponds. The fairway is a narrow hallway of trees. What do you do? What DO you do?
Well, hell, you pull out the three wood and try to hit a cut shot and all the way to the green, babay.
Who wants to knock it a few dozen yards back into the fairway and just over the hill? And settle for par or a possible birdie. Where's the fun in that?
He could have won many more majors if he'd stayed away from the Hollywood glory shots.

"Yes" says the woman.
"Did you hit him with that golf club?"

"How many times did you hit him?"

Nike has planted people in the crowds to control the reaction to Woods. Couple that with Augusta and the PGA Tour wanting to protect their (still) cash cow, I'm sure not a single avowed Tiger hater got past the front gate.
At the Master's they don't need to. Its such a private and controlled affair already. Every ticket is marked and known. You cause a ruckus and not only will they throw you out but they can make sure you never go to Augusta again. That's part of why Tiger made it his first event back, rather than do a few beforehand to get back into the groove.

Brooks has the intellect of a small rock - and an ugly, misshapen rock, at that. That's why allah loves him. They are on the same level.
But, it is true that affirmative action college students and those who major in non-sciences (including the soft-sciences and total joke departments) tend to lack the critical thinking ability to understand much of anything. Those are Brooks' types of people ... with the sharp creases, often enough.
Smart people understand enough to be more than suspicious about government and to appreciate the Founders' dire warnings to have the federal government strictly limited in what it is even allowed to try and do.

F Wilmer Throckmorton
Wasn't he a famous chemist or something?
Posted by: Ronster at April 11, 2010 07:34 PM (Xu6d3)
Actually, F Throckmorton was a Republican lawyer who lived in Washington during the Clinton administration.
Mr. and Mrs. Throckmorton and many other guests were invited to the White House for dinner. After dinner, President Clinton, and Vernon Jordan gathered in a receiving line to wish the invitees a goodnight.
As Mr. and Mrs. Throckmorton passed in front of President Clinton, he leaned forward and whispered to Wilmer, "your wife is the best piece of ass in Washington."
Mr. Throckmorton was stunned and quickly escorted his wife to the awaiting limousine. After the ThrockmortonÂ’s departure, President Clinton whispered to Vernon Jordan, "Judy Throckmorton isn't the best piece of ass in Washington, but I didn't want to make Wilmer feel bad."

The new Doctor sucks. He has all the goofiness and eccentricities of the old Doctors plus a double helping of Tennant's (#10's) self-righteousness.
I'm sick & tired of Doctor fucking Who shitting on the human race. The last episode was terrible. This current series is geared towards kids, anyway.

You do have to school for a season ahead. Like football now, etc.
Ok back to star trek the movie and ironing till we get a new thread.

SPARTACUS averages less than 1 exposed dingaling per episode, whereas there are 20 boobs shown per episode.
That's a ratio I can live with.

What should I tell the legislators about? I think I'm going to stick it to them on crimmigration and amnesty. Anyone in particular need a good brain-rattling?

I tend to agree with this: 2012 - GOP field, so far, sucks.
Then, the GOP, unlike the left, isn't very good at the cult of personality.

Lucky for Harry the folks he was promising don't know what a hatchet job Harry did on ObamaCare.
By the time he gets through with immigration legislation, a lot of those folks will end up being citizens of Haiti or Belize or something.

These people are not in the shadows! They are in our FACE! In our jobs! In our TV sets! In our government! In our places of business! In our schools! In our hospitals! In our jails! In our courts! In our backyards! Constantly!
Exactly, SiM. Every time they have an amnesty march they get upwards of 100K people showing up. These are all citizens or legal residents? Fuck no. There is no fear, because there is no need to be fearful. No one gets deported. I have lived in SoCal my entire life and can attest that this "living in the shadows" bullshit is just that - bullshit.

that's written by Jeff Golinkin, yes the Jeff Golinkin, a guy who doesn't even have a wikipedia page, come 2012 the economy will be so bad that even a Palin campaign could beat Obama, the only way Obama could win would be if Paul was the nominee and btw it's too early to predict 2012, 1 year ago Huckabee who is now polling horribly was the leading guy and at this timeframe in 2006 Hillary was leading the pack as was Guliani and we all know how great those two did in getting the nomination, oops Obama and McCain got it guys who w/ 1 year until the primaries were being called dead in the water, hell Clinton in 1992 had to do a comeback to get the nomination...
PS: I don't mean to sound like "someguy" but this is an embarrassment for a blog as good at this, it's no wonder a crappy blog like HotAir gets more traffic (though AP has scared plenty off), I mean today we could have opened a new thread on the death of the Polish president, a thread that Obama has hit a new low of 45% on Gallup, GALLUP! Or news on the amnesty rumors going around, hell you could even mention this FrumForum story and show why it's a weak point, a blog as good as this should not be this lazy, it might be time for ace to do a greenroom like thing the way HA does (where people actually sound smart on that site for once) and help the bloggers for a slow day like this

577 #574 Trust me on this, Nike and PGA have no power at Augusta. That was all Billy Payne's doing (taking over as chair from Teh Hootie).
I'm an augusta native and work out there during the tunamint.
Trust me. The National is a sovereign state. Kind of like the Vatican.
Look to the dust-up with Martha Burke. The advertisers got nervous and hinted "Maybe...uhhh" and the National fired them. All the advertisers.
Bill Gates got turned away for improper attire. That is one place the Rules are the Rules.
The FAA was inspecting that plane the second time it landed and laid out several options for them. None of which involved any more flying in the Nationals airspace. Not for Tigers benefit. Because that sort of thing is NOT DONE.
