— Ace With three exceptions -- FoxNews and the Washington Times (of course) and this brief single mention on CNN:
JOHN ROBERTS, CNN ANCHOR: There's also something else that's out there. Phil Jones from the University of East Anglia, the climate research unit, the guy that was at the center of this recent e-mail controversy late last year, has said in an interview with the BBC that he has not seen any, quote, "statistically significant warming since 1995," though he says he still believes that the earth's temperature has warmed. And he also said that he might be missing some of the data that is responsible for his climate models.Of course, skeptics are jumping all over this, saying the whole thing is a farce. Global warming doesn't exist.
What do you think of the Professor Jones situation, the lack of statistically significant warming, and the fact that he may have misplaced some of the records?
JOHN CHRISTY, PROFESSOR, ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE, UNIV. OF ALABAMA- HUNTSVILLE: Well, I think what Phil Jones is saying is that Mother Nature is perfectly capable of making the temperature rise and fall through the past several hundred years. And in terms of the data problems, well, we do have to be careful when we're talking about public policy, that means trillions of dollars, and we haven't had that very hard and critical situation where you take care of data and make it publicly available to everyone. And that needs to be done now.
We have a childish, petulant, insecure, unprofessional media. It has to be noted again that the British media is covering this story well -- even left-wing outfits like the Guardian and the statist-establishment-left BBC.
My respect for the BBC and the Guardian has increased quite a bit. This story is obviously against their political agenda, but they covered it anyway, because it's, you know, news.
Compare to the American Media, which is principally now in the business of blocking the reportage of news.

The interviewee is a professor at Alabama Huntsville.
He's fortunate to be walking on this side of the grass.
I haven't seen a Huntsville interview since Von Braun.
A little mass murder once in awhile really keeps your campus on the map.

But I think they have found a suitable walk-back spin that you can expect to see trial-ballooned soon: climate scientists we fooled by mother nature and old, unreliable data. Watch for it.
The lack of an "escape clause" for the MSM and the Democrats (birm) has prevented the exposure of these stories, but I predict they will start coming pretty quick once the "nuances" of the "fooled by Mother Nature" narrative are fine-tuned.
I told my children I would pay for their higher education in any field they chose - except journalism. And I told them if they go that way, they could pick a new Dad too, because I would never speak to them again.

Of course, skeptics are jumping all over this, saying the whole thing is a farce. Global warming doesn't exist.
I think the issue is that Global Warming has to be extraordinary. If the warming we had from the 80s to the 90s was no different then past warming trends, then Global Warming did occur, but AGW is a bunch of hooey.
Overall, it is looking more and more like the AGW boosters knowingly spent the last 5 or 10 years trying to hide the decline....so to speak.

What is Jones trying to do? Hurt Charlie Johnson? He has invested the full thimblefull of his credibility in Global Warming. How unfair. Now Charlie will have to put his widdle hands over his ears while hollering Nanananana, lest he realize he has been a massive, galactic dickhead.

Doesn't really raise my respect of the BBC. Just further lowers my... well, I don't have any respect for them really... opinion of the LSM. Pretty much any news I get from them has to be verified by at least 2 other credible sources before I assume it's accurate.

I told my children I would pay for their higher education in any field they chose - except journalism.
That's harsh, sherlock.
Ideally, journalism as a field of study provides a great education requiring genuine knowledge across a broad array of subjects. The reality is that the journalists themselves are lazy. The people who practice this craft are oftentimes the ones who cut corners on the curriculum as students and rely on press releases to have their job done for them as "professionals." The model jourmalist is sharp, curious, a quick study on everything, analytical, clear of thought, unintimidated by all levels of power and beyond reproach in terms of integrity. It would be fine if some journalists merely lacked some of these qualities. Sadly, too many have the exact opposite of all of them.
I'd like to talk you out of your deal with your children regarding the study of journalism. Failing that, I'd like to convince you to extend your exception to also include education.

These IPCC/AGW Hysterics/East Anglia academics are frauds. That is all they are. They cannot and should not be rehabilitated. Going back to them to get their adjusted opinion based on new evidence or soul-searching, career-saving walkbacks? An endeavor they do not deserve and one that should not be trusted anyway.
Strike "scientist" from their titles. They are not. They really should be facing academic isolation and banishment if not actual confinement/prison for fraud.

Mama AJ,
Yeah, I remember watching a newscast a long ways back - could have been in the 80's - about how New York City could have a climate comparable to that of Miami by the turn of the century or thereabouts.
Saw Perky Katie the other night do a little shtick on this with some goofy music, talking about how there were some issues with the data that were giving "skeptics" some "ammunition". The whole tone seemed to be that there were a few technical glitches that were giving the flat earth society members an excuse to distort the truth that we all know.

For all the talk of how talk radio and the internet have leveled the playing field, the truth is...not so much. The same dynamic shows up in trying to get people to look at the other side of the global warming debate. The second you say your information comes from Fox, The Wall Street Journal, or National Review Online, the majority of people tend to dismiss it out of hand, no matter how well sourced or researched that information might be. So as long as the NYT and company choose to keep burying inconvenient truthiness, I'm afraid the current leadership in Washington will keep cramming this stuff down our collective throats. Wish I knew how to change the dynamic, but I don't.

Looks like Gore might me right. Oh wait.
Associated Press story published in the Washington Post, November 2, 1922. Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt.
The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway.
Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm.
Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds
