— Ace Pile on him! (Not on me!)
A courtÂ’s arrest ruling makes it possible for the prosecutor to request an international arrest warrant via European Union cooperation or Interpol, Tommy Kangasvieri at the National Bureau of Investigation said today in a telephone interview....
AssangeÂ’s application for a Swedish residence and work permit, which would have allowed him to establish WikiLeaks as a Swedish publication protected by the constitution, was turned down by the Migration Board.
Hurtig said he was sure an international arrest warrant would be issued by police and that Assange would come to Sweden for questioning.
"Arrest" here seems to have a less-forbidding and more technical meaning than we usually think of in America -- it seems to mean (and I'm not sure I have this right) that he is subject to detention (that's the real meaning of arrest, after all) and questioning about this matter. From what I gather "arrest" in Sweden does not seem to have the usual implication as in America, that is, that a prosecution is expected to follow.

I don't understand why this guy isn't being arrested for spying against the US. Is it because he claims to be a journalist?
If that is the case why wouldn't all spys say they are journalists? Regardless of your profession it would seem that knowingly receiving classified info makes you a spy.

Exactly! She's a teenage girl acting like a bratty, pushing the limits teenage girl. Yet somone last night on a FB thread (Someone who LOATHES Sarah Palin) was going on and on about this as evidence as to what a horrible mother she was by what a horrible child she raise.
I've helped care for a 4 year old who stabbed his 2 year old baby sister to death and a 5 year old who tried and almost succeeded in setting his step Mother on fire.
Do not EVER talk to me about 'bad' mothering unless you want stories like that of a woman who stabbed her two infants to death in a convenience store then calmly waited on the police to come collect the two demons she'd just killed... or the other who pimped her son to pedos for drugs from the time he was 2 until he was taken by the state when he was 8. And now as an adult, he's a permanent ward of the state as a sexual predator.
THAT is bad mothering.

The bad mother was the lefty's point--- that it was evidence of just how 'evil' Sarah was which just blew me away--- especially when over on Hillbuzz (gay and all) is 100% behind Willow and has no problem with her behavior.
As for Sarah being accountable...shit..... so can we go after all children with equal ire? Everyone's child? What a burden on the universe!
Makes it clear that not having any children or family is an advantage for someone in politics (and here I was thinking that Palin being a mom was a huge draw for the likes of me).

She's not falling into any trap, she's simply saying that Willow's tantrum is going to come back on Sarah in the public's eye. Yes, it is unfair and it is a Rep/Dem double standard (Ashley Biden didn't seem to affect Slow Joe's electability or image any), but that's just the way it is for now.
She's 15. She's not running for office. Save your Sarah-hate for something she actually does.
I didn't get that impression from lu's remarks that she hated Sarah. Geez.

She could be brushing up and giving the appearance that she's a serious person.
Why? To assuage you? You're free not to vote for her in the primaries, you know. Assuming she's running.
So, you need to see her with glasses on in a leather armchair in a mildly lit study with an ancient tome in her lap.
It goes with what I say about the difference between the intelligencia and the pretensia. Maybe she is doing all that precious reading. Maybe she's inventing cold fusion.
A lot of liberal arts types still -- still -- think Barry is intelligent. This is because he displays all the trappings of intellect for the no-math crowd. They'd be shocked at what true genius looks like.
But she's out in AK. Fishing. On film.
Horrors! Fishing! I mean, it isn't golf and she doesn't have any official duties that she's blowing off, but fishing!
How...working class of her.

As I've stated here multiple times, I was a Palin supporter from the get-go. I was at her debut in Dayton and understood why people got excited over Obama. I got swept up in having someone that channeled a bit of Reagan.
And then the election ended. I figured she was going to run and that we'd see less of her. She'd hunker down and give the semblance she could discuss foreign policy in-depth.
Silly of me to ask for so much. A serious-minded potential candidate- not a celeb. She's become everything we rip Obama for -- all style; not a whole lot of substance.

From what I gather "arrest" in Sweden does not seem to have the usual implication as in America, that is, that a prosecution is expected to follow.
Though I'm Swedish, I'm not a lawyer and dont know the law more than the average interested citizen, but that's pretty much accurate. There's a few different ways to translate "arrest" in Swedish, but this case refers to a courts decision to detain someone. This requires that there's a wellfounded suspicion of guilt and the possible sentence could be a year in jail.
A person can be detained for a maximum of two weeks, after which there must be a prosecution or a new court hearing for a new two week period. Technically a person can be held under arrest for years without prosecution as long as the prosecutor can get the court to agree to it, and then released without any prosecution.
The reasons to have someone arrested could be that the person could continue commit crime, could interfere in the investigation and prosecution, or could try and escape. Or that the crime has a minimum sentence of a year in jail. Usually an arrest means that the prosecutor want to have the suspect available for questioning, and not be able to interfere with the investigation.

Meh, I never thought Palin was so great or is so lousy now. If she runs, I don't think she'll win the nomination. If Joe Miller had won in a blowout in AK, then you could argue that the people there loved her, but they turned their back on her. As much as you can argue that it was Miller's race, Lisa was not an appealing candidate and Miller should have won as Palin's proxy alone.
What happened to her during and after the campaign, however, was unforgivable. I will damn the media until my dying day for that and will never let up. I cheer at every bankrupt newspaper. If she wins her war against the media and the Left.
She can run for office, but at the moment, I see her waging war against the media and I cheer on everything she does to bring those bastards down.
