— Ace What he means is (well I hope he means this; all other suggestions are lunatic) that the majority of the country is Christian, so whenever a murder occurs, it's a "Christian murder."
Uh-huh.
But see, the thing is, Muslims commit those sorts of "Muslim murders" every day, too, if we're calling any murder (for the typical motives, love, money, etc.) by a member of a religion a Religious Murder.
He kind of forgot that, eh?
What we are talking about is murders committed for the sake of religion -- and no, Tavis, Christians are not killing people every day because Jesus told them they'd get into heaven if they do.

Tavis Smiley is probably one of those who pipes up about Hitler being a Christian, and Timothy McVeigh. Neither of them committed their crimes to the greater glory of Christ, or because they were given a mandate by Christ, or Pope Whoever, or Billy Graham, to do so. Hitler even had his own cultish situation going on, it was described on "the occult history of the third reich."
This was a belief-system of arcane rituals and potent symbols, with the ancient swastika appropriated for the Nazi cause. By the time of the Third Reich, Hitler and the Nazis had evolved an entirely new faith, complete with holy book, venerated relics and a priestly elite in the form of Himmler's SS. It was a religion based on obedience, power, and the cult of the leader, with Hitler himself conceived in Messianic terms.

silly man, so this is what pbs does with their money.
Corporation for Public Broadcasting has received 15% to 20% of its annual operating revenue from Federal sources and 25% to 29% from State and local taxes.

I was shocked when I first saw this. Hirsi Ali is a friggin hero and Travis is there trying to school her on what a dumb fuck she is because she does not get Christian(ist)s are evil. Travis, you are the dumb fuck. BTW, Columbine shooters weren't Christians, they targetted Christians.
Other than John Brown trying to start a slave revolt in Virginia and a couple of crazied abortion clinic bombers (and Rudolph btw was an athiest) where are these violent Christians in America?
Now I am just pissed. Because my tax dollars help pay for this. I would donate to PBS for the occasional Ken Burns special that I like, but stuff like this makes me say no.

The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 required a "strict adherence to objectivity and balance in all programs or series of programs of a controversial nature". It also prohibited the federal government from interfering or controlling what is broadcast.

Reminds me of a comic I saw in San Francisco back in the '70s.
"You people out here are WEIRD! I mean, you got people out here who commit murder for strange shit, like 'the moon was in Aquarius' and stuff. Back home in New York, people only get murdered for good reasons... like ten cents."
As for the RoP and its respect for other religious traditions (of which I heard so much around the Everybody Draw Mohammed Day), I offer this tidbit:
At least 70 people were killed when Islamist militants armed with grenades and suicide vests stormed two mosques packed with worshippers from a minority sect in the Pakistani city of Lahore.
The gunmen struck in simultaneous attacks on Friday against the Ahmadi sect, which has long been subjected to violence and discrimination.
Police rapidly took control of one mosque in the Model Town area of the city. Meanwhile a stand-off developed at the second mosque in the heavily populated Garhi Shahu neighbourhood.
One attacker climbed on top of the minaret of the mosque, firing an assault rifle and throwing hand grenades. Outside, police traded bullets with the gunmen.
Three attackers blew themselves up as police entered the building to end the siege.
Shahbaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab province, appealed for calm "Our security forces will fight this menace till the end," he said. "Attacks on places of worship is barbarianism. It is a shame to cause bloodshed in mosques." Local media reported that the Punjabi wing of the Pakistan Taliban had claimed responsibility.
Lahore, a city of eight million near Pakistan's border with India, has been increasingly subject to Taliban and al-Qaeda attacks in a nationwide bombing campaign that has killed more than 3,300 people in the past three years.
Yesterday's attack is the bloodiest yet in Lahore. In March 45 people were killed in a series of simultaneous attacks.
Rahimullah Yusufzai, an expert on militant groups, said the Punjabi Taliban were capable of such an attack but that it marked a departure from their normal tactic of selecting security targets "This is one for their supporters rather than something that might win over public opinion," he said. "It shows their fundamentalists that they are against Shias, against Ahmadis, against minorities and it restates their hardline position." One man was arrested as police secured the Model Town mosque.
Officials said he was a Pashtun, from the ethnic group that straddles Pakistan and Afghanistan and is closely associated with the Taliban.
The Ahmadis have suffered years of state-sanctioned discrimination and occasional attacks by radical Sunni Muslims, but never on such a large scale.
They are reviled as heretics by mainstream Muslims for their belief that their founder was a saviour foretold by the Koran. Their belief contradicts a central tenet of Islam holds that Mohammed was the final prophet.

He kind of forgot that, eh?
I'm guessing not. He's just being technically accurate when he says Christians kill people every day. He thinks he's being smart.
Like a couple of years ago when NPR's listeners feigning outrage when they said the U.S. had invasion plans against Iran. Yes: Two years ago, the United States government had plans for the invasion of Iran. Actually, the U.S. has for a long time held invasion plans against every country in the world, and they're continually being updated. So NPR was, technically, correct.
Tavis Smiley is just manipulating people eager to be manipulated.

So in Tavis' world being this is a center right country with the majority of folks here identifying with Christianity, if you kill someone because of jealousy or greed that is the same thing as flying planes into towers and beheading people in the name of Islam.

Apparently the NorKs' artillery and multiple-rocket launchers could deliver between 5,000 and 10,000 rounds on targets in the area between the DMZ and the outskirts of Seoul within the first minute of an attack. Let's hope they don't get to use too much of the element of surprise -- better yet, let's hope they don't get the idea to attack in the first place.

Posted by: mpfs at May 28, 2010 02:38 PM (iYbLN)
Exactly. It's worse than that, in fact. In Greece and Russia, murders are carried out in the name of Orthodox Christianity. In Italy, there are multiple murders every day in the name of Benedict XVI. I understand that the July 7 bombings in London can be traced back to the Queen through the Anglican Church, because the bombers were in fact British citizens. And just yesterday a young black man in San Francisco killed another in a driveby shooting, all because the Wiccan Bathhouse he visits told him to.
This of course doesn't apply to Islam, the Religion of Peace. Becuase it's the religion of Peace, and shit.

My youngest brother used the "christians kill" argument when he was visiting a few years ago. I think it has something to do with justification of hatred of any religion with the exception of global warming.
I told him I had missed the sunday school classes about bomb making and hating others. I asked him if they maybe taught it in the classroom when he went to a Catholic grammar school.

The Columbine example had me laughing. The deranged boys who did that have an entire pdf file that was later released on the internet on what they wanted to do, what they believed etc. They said "there are no gods we are god" and when they were killing students they would ask "are you a christian" like that poor girl who had a simple cross on and when she said yes they killed her.
When you have to make up examples to prove your point like Tavis then you know there is something wrong with the man upstairs in his mind. Sad.
