— Dave in Texas We cannot let up. We cannot assume our adversaries won't fight back. They assumed that, that we were demoralized, broken. And we were.
No more. We have to push the ball over the goal line more than once, and punish them until they break. They know it's coming, but they hope against hope it "won't be so bad". We have to dispel that notion, now and for good.
We have quite a few internal arguments, all healthy and good, about the upcoming November elections. I loves me a primary fight. Our adversaries know they have screwed the pooch, with their goddam Obamacare crap.. the never ending regulatory garbage.. and their in-your-face blatant attack, attack on our prosperity, and our Constitutionally protected rights.
Cage match.
Organize. Mobilize. Take the fight to these sonsofbitches. Bring up the reserves and fill the lines. In every tough fight, the troops need a rallying point, something to pull them up out of the chaos, the churn, the ordinary struggle to survive, and push them harder than they in and of themselves think they can go.
This one worked once. It was a dare.

No more Obama-anything. Enough. Enough already.
UPDATE: screw you Dems. This is happening.
ALSO ALSO: Smush them. Reminder from wiserbud. Good call. For an idiot.

Agree with Dave on this one. We must organize, moblize and vote in November.
For those who volunteered and are ignored or rebuffed, please try again with that campaign or another.
It frustrates me to no end when precinct captains/campaigns fail to get volunteers involved. Failing to deliver a sign or assign people tasks just throws cold water on your supporters.
All I can say if you have tried to volunteer, please try again. Often, you are contacting fellow volunteers who get overwelmed with their other (paying and family) committments.

The best way to volunteer is show up at your local congress critter's campaign headquarters.
You can find out what the GOP is doing in your area by going to this site. Just type in your zip, and it will show you what they have going on. You can, also, just show up at their local office, and get campaign info for your congress critter.
curious, if they turned you down, it is probably that you are registered as an independent. You will have to convince them that you are not a plant, or someone that is not trying to get info to spread to the 'enemy'. They may still not allow you to volunteer.

The dirty little secret is, IMHO, the AMT will not be touched but extended to everyone.
That's not Boehner selling us down the river, it's an acknowledgment of what he's willing to compromise on to get an extension passed during this (Democrat) Congress, not the next one; and a further acknowledgment that Obama is going to have to sign any extension of the tax cuts regardless. Right now anything would be better than letting the cuts expire.

The origin is a bit more insidious. Included in the 1969 'Tax Reform Bill,' it was meant to target 155 wealthy taxpayers who supposedly gamed the tax system. I repeat, One Hundred and Fifty-five people/households.
And as with most Congressional actions, the Law of Unintended Consequences kicked in and has put millions of tax payers in the cross-hairs.
The CBO in 2004:
"Over the coming decade, a growing number of taxpayers will become liable for the AMT. In 2010, if nothing is changed, one in five taxpayers will have AMT liability and nearly every married taxpayer with income between $100,000 and $500,000 will owe the alternative tax. Rather than affecting only high-income taxpayers who would otherwise pay no tax, the AMT has extended its reach to many upper-middle-income households. As an increasing number of taxpayers incur the AMT, pressures to reduce or eliminate the tax are likely to grow."

The AMT = the Alternative Minimum Tax. It was passed back during the LBJ era supposedly to take care of rich people who added up all the "loopholes" in the tax law and got by without paying any tax.
Never mind that the Dems had controlled congress like forever and added all those loopholes. These rich people had to be punished!
It was supposed to make them refigure their taxes if their income was above a certain amount and the paid less than another amount in taxes. IOW, they were going to pay a fixed percentage regardless of deductions.
It NEVER did do what they advertised it for as it only snared a few people. The rich can always hire accountants to figure ways to beat the commie scams.
But, the real strategy was revealed several years AND increases in the rates later when it started hitting non-rich people. It had not been indexed for inflation. That was the real strategy, a huge tax hike that would occur several years down the road.
The Republicans in Newt era passed a bill to repeal it. Clinton vetoed it.
Every year since then they have passed a temporary measure to increase the amount "slightly". If it had been indexed for inflation the AMT would ot come into play until you had an AGI of over 2 million dollars.
Everything you have ever heard a Dem politician say about the AMT is a lie.

Yes we have signs all over this area. His headquarters is 65 miles away (which up here is a long way), but we are covering the area. He has an excellent chance here because so many Stupak voters were upset by him caving, and want somebody from here who will change Washington. But he has no money for TV ads, which is a problem. The other problem is how big the district is. It is a lot of ground to cover, and he is. Rural Michigan is basically Red, so the Dems were happy to have this seat.

Colorado 3: Scott Tipton Vs. Lil Salazar. He can be beat, and if so, would be a great sign of the wave. He was down in a recent poll by a sizable margin.
Colorado 7: Ryan Frazier running against Ed Pukemutter. Leans Dim, Frazier a black guy and an excellent candidate. Should he pull it out, it probably means 60 seats for the gop.
South Carolina 5 Fake moderate Dim John Spratt Vs. Mick Mulvaney This old turd needs to be flushed. Voted for Ostumblecare. A big wave if he gets the boot.

Liberals hate being called stupid. They hate it. Their schemes are dependent on them being ubermensches fit to rule us all. So start your response with "I realize that you're incredibly stupid, but..."
Or do the old seminar caller trick, "I realize you're going to delete my response, but..."

There you go, again. What do you expect them to say? The Republicans are going to kick our ass this cycle?
Posted by: Steph at September 12, 2010 02:52 PM (nbzzk)
Not exactly. We were fed up in 2006. The elected on our side of the aisle had sold us out, sold out what we believed in, and we stopped supporting them along with a good slice of the mushy middle. Our politicians lost because they sold out the philosophy they were supposed to embody. Same in 2008. Conservatives didn't lose, because the choices they had weren't conservatives.
This time around, they've gone full bore. They went for everything their side wanted, and it's blown up in their faces. Their approach is in disrepute, all the things they've wasted political capital on are toxic now.
Our side lost because they didn't do what they were expected to do, their side is losing because they did. That leaves conservatives ready to fulfill what's expected of them-- liberals will have to scramble to re-invent themselves, which is a far harder mission to meet.

Never met a LaRouchie that wasn't a crackpot, but I can't see any reason why someone holding a sign at a public accommodation should have any interaction with the police beyond "Hello." ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It's been pointed out before here that the Fair was in fact a private event, on private property. http://tinyurl.com/2crl9lz The Larouchie broke the rules set up by the people running the private event. Political protesters were allowed to rent booths or setup tables, but there were rules as to where/how they could protest. This guy was specifically told not to take his protest sign to the front of the audience. He was in the wrong here. As for them wrestling him to the ground: when they did, they found the guy had a loaded (licensed) weapon under his belt. Bearing weapons was also against the organizers' rules--which is probably why the guy decided to conceal his. I don't like cops, but this incident reminded me why they immobilize people who forcibly resist arrest.

Dem and MSM have always used social issues to drive away indies and centerist dems from voting for repubs, and conservatives.
I'm not a social conservative, but I believe the other major tenets of conservatism. I frankly don't care that much about social issues, or at least those aren't issues I vote one way or another, but if a conservative candidate makes social conservatism their primary thrust of their campaign they will lose.
The LSM and demon's rats have always used social conservatism to define the entirety of the conservative movememt. I frankly think conservatives should start calling themselves Constitutional Conservatives, then its harder to define the entire idea of conservatism with social conservatism being the main force.

The LSM and demon's rats have always used social conservatism to define the entirety of the conservative movememt. I frankly think conservatives should start calling themselves Constitutional Conservatives, then its harder to define the entire idea of conservatism with social conservatism being the main force.

Yup. I posted earlier today about Republicans being lousy communicators. They should shuck that "definition" and point out the obvious. "Yo, dude, are you stupid? Can you spend your own money better than some government guy? No? Then Welcome to the conservative movement."

Although I prefer donating to individual candidates, Demint's on the side of the angels, more so than anyone else. Someone linked this article the other night and it's a very good read on Demint.

Yes, my wife and her family are not social conservatives, they are probably more socially liberal than I am. And this year they are all voting for conservatives, they are in fact libertarians. Govt stay out of the way in all aspects, except what is outlined in the Constitution, defense of America, period.
They all attend Tea Party events, b/c that is what the Tea Party movement is about, granted many there are pro-life, but social issues are not the main thrust of the movment. My gay collegues who own a small biz are staunch conservatives.
Also, conservatives sit back, and let assholes like Schieffer get away saying things in interviews without being confronted. These are paper bullies, I remember when my wife and I were campainging for McPalin, I was stunned at how easily some of the repubs would give up when confronted with lies, and my wife and I were campaigning and fighting harder for Palin as democrats.
The MSM has not seem many conservatives fight back, and the LSM is in fact paper bullies.

Seems like a bit of historical analysis might be warranted.
2000 - W's DWI ?
2002 - ?
2003 - CA Guber - LA Times reporting of Schwarzenegger's supposed sexual harassment.
2004 - While the Left feared Bush would produce Bin Laden before the eleciton, the forged TANG memo blew up in their faces.
2008 - Economic crash - I still haven't seen any credible evidence that this was pre-planned. What ever happened to that call to Rush about a rumored $500 billion over-night transfer of USD to overseas?
Most of the recent variations have been either tame or counterproductive. I expect something equally impotent from the Left.

It strikes me as being rather odd as well, because all 4 of the women just absolutely loved having kids. I can understand that, but 2 were willing to do so at the expense of their own lives. They're still incredibly decent & sweet people, but having that many kids helped fracture their families.
/People did used to have more children up until the Victorian Era, but you also have to factor-in infant mortality rates & not-as-effective birth control.

Breitbart to release 'interesting' audio of Capitol Hill politician
Known for releasing sensational viral videos, multi-media web mogul Andrew Breitart is preparing to post "interesting" audio of a member of Congress this week. I spoke to Mr. Breitbart following his speech at the FreedomWorks 9/12 rally in Washington, D.C. on Sunday afternoon.
“You’re going to hear interesting audio that’s going to come out this week, and it involves a certain member of Congress leaving a voicemail one should never leave asking for money of a person who could she help and vice versa," said Mr. Breitbart.“She is a known quantity and a respected person who has been granted a lot of respect and I think knowing people here, it is going to be very surprising that she would be behaving this way."

Redistricting is coming up, and Party-controlled legislatures are going to be busy next year, gerrymandering Their People into safe seats.
Here in Texas, for instance, Democrats are almost at parity with Republicans in "The Lege". It wouldn't take many seat-flips for Democrats to get control -- and Texas is due to get four (4) new House seats (should be more, but that's why Democrats wanted all those illegals to bulk up the count in, e.g., California despite the flight from there). I myself think Mark White would be a better Governor than Rick Perry, but you couldn't pay me to vote for him (actually, you could, but I'd keep the money and use my vote the way I wanted). He's a Democrat. Only a moonbat could vote for any of the Democratic candidates for Lieutenant Governor (in Texas, actually more important than the Governor) -- one is a la Raza type, one isn't even a Texan, and one is Ronnie Earl, of all people. Railroad Commissioner, well, Carrilo shouldn't have too many problems. But the legislature, ah, the legislature. Go work for those people, and vote.
Regards,
Ric

ItÂ’s a safe bet her phone didnÂ’t ring too much--not because no one wants to help but because there just arenÂ’t that many Democrats left who see themselves, up through the midterm election anyway, as safe. And itÂ’s not like they can turn to President Barack Obama, whose national approval rating is currently around 40 percent, to bail them outdate

334 Holy Shit that's a good article. Here is a meaty excerpt:
It may seem incredible to suggest that the anticolonial ideology of Barack Obama Sr. is espoused by his son, the President of the United States. That is what I am saying. From a very young age and through his formative years, Obama learned to see America as a force for global domination and destruction. He came to view America's military as an instrument of neocolonial occupation. He adopted his father's position that capitalism and free markets are code words for economic plunder. Obama grew to perceive the rich as an oppressive class, a kind of neocolonial power within America. In his worldview, profits are a measure of how effectively you have ripped off the rest of society, and America's power in the world is a measure of how selfishly it consumes the globe's resources and how ruthlessly it bullies and dominates the rest of the planet.

Then you ought to talk to my next-door neighbors, who harbor similar feelings about the Mormon family with six young kids across the street.
My neighbors consider Mormonism a cult, so they stay clear of the family, which is entirely "normal", with the most delighful bunch of kids one could hope for.
My neighbors don't know the kids' names, let alone interact with them, because of the "cult" thing.
Oh and did I mention that my neighbors are Jewish. Except that they don't support Israel.
Even though they agree that Jews are "God's Chosen People".
And did I mention they didn't just vote for Obojangles, they lunged at the lever in the voting booth, and election officials had to pry the thing from their hands.
p.s. people used to have very large families because many of the kids would die before they reached five. Today, people with large famlies who raise their own kids w/o government assistance do so because they love children.
Loving children. Weird. Very disturbing. It would creep anyone out.

My next door neighbors have 7 and home school. They aren't particularly religious either, they just don't like the public school system. Their children are the most polite, loving, smart, kind, kids ever. My little boy has been accepted into this throng as one of them. BTW, the parents have vision problems, don't drive, are biracial and have a very nice income due to dad's entrepeneurism. I don't even know how they vote, or if they do, but they are well informed, thoughtful and intelligent.
If you have the money and don't resent the sacrifices to your lifestyle that many kids entail over the long term, then more power to them. My 3 have been more than enough for me to handle without nearly the grace.

I tell this story so that you don't assume Dems are going to sit down and take a shellacking without doing some organizing of their own. If you can't help with a conservative's campaign, at least make sure you get out to vote. That is all.

Yeah. That's exactly what I said. I also clearly think Mormonism is a cult. Because your neighbors do. And they don't understand large families either. Not even going to touch the Jewish mention in your post.
But yeah you nailed me. Very perceptive you are. Shocked you aren't in the Holder DoJ.
****************************
Chris, All the things I said about Mormons, the family, and my Jewish neighbors were to point out how some people, apparently you included, think normal families with a lot of children are somehow weird.
You implied that large families comprising loving parents and lots of normal kids are somehow creepy.
If you feel slighted, too frackin' bad. It's YOU who are the weirdo.
Deal.
(How you can connect me with Holder is a mystery.

would you clarify, jews that don't support Israel, and why that is n issue in having many children statement?
or mormons for that matter?
Chris. from what i saw just didn't understand why people like me, choose to have many kids. He acepted at this point in his life He could not understand why not understanding not desiring a family of my size is not saying He thinks everyone is nuts, He just doesn't want , it for himself..and doesn't know why we do. Not a slight. just knows He is not in the same mind frame.
isn't that ok?
as
long as he is not knocking up women and saying to bad i don't want this life?

Outstanding post, Dave !
Reminds me of one of Winston Churchill's quotes....actually 2 of his.
"We shall fight on the beaches.
We shall fight on the landing grounds.
We shall fight in the fields, and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills.
We shall never surrender"
June 4th 1940
and
"Never, never, never give up."
