There isn't a huge story out there today, but that itself may be the story. Wasn't the Globe or some such supposed to drop some big hit piece on him today? That dog hasn't barked, showing either (1) they've got some shame, (2) Brown's too clean even to make stuff up about, or (3) they realize he'd probably win anyway.
Meanwhile, Obama showed up (his tie couldn't make it, though), couldn't fill the hall for Coakley, and got heckled, otherwise giving a pretty dull speech. Elsewhere Brown did fill his hall -- and more -- and said some good stuff.
Oh yeah, and another Friday poll shows Brown up 51-41.
Update: today's Pajamas poll has Brown up 52-42.
But don't crack the champagne yet, folks. Remember, the point is not just to win but win way outside the margin of cheating. Because if (IF) Brown does win, the bigger the margin the better. We want House Dems being pressured to short-circuit the conference process on ZeroCare to crap their pants and bail.
Tomorrow's a federal holiday. If you're in or around MA, you can and should still volunteer (if you haven't) to knock on doors for Scott Brown. We need every legitimate GOP voter out there on Tuesday.

This isn't the Democratic party of our fathers and grandfathers. This is the party of Woodstock hippies. I was at Woodstock — I built the stage. And when everything fell apart, and people were fighting for peanut-butter sandwiches, it was the National Guard who came in and saved the same people who were protesting them. So when Hillary Clinton a few years ago wanted to build a Woodstock memorial, I said it should be a statue of a National Guardsman feeding a crying hippie."

Boston Globe today:
Blame Obama By Jeff JacobyHow can this be happening? This is the bluest state of them all - a state without a single Republican in Congress or in statewide office, a state Barack Obama won in a landslide. How can the Senate race be too close to call?
Part of the answer, of course, is that Brown has proved an engaging and indefatigable candidate, while Coakley’s campaign has been plagued with gaffes and missteps. Her claim in last week’s televised debate that the terrorists in Afghanistan are “not there anymore’’ suggested a dangerous naiveté on national security, while her huffy response when asked why she has been such a passive campaigner - “As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?’’ - came across as sneering and elitist.
But ultimately the Massachusetts Senate campaign is not about BrownÂ’s personal appeal or CoakleyÂ’s shortcomings on the stump. It is about something bigger. This race is a referendum on Barack Obama and the Democratic ascendancy in Washington.
...A year ago, Americans were enchanted with their new president. Today they are suffering from severe buyerÂ’s remorse. Massachusetts may be the bluest state, but voters here are fed up too.

I'm worried about the Margin of Cheating too (MoC). They know that Holder won't prosecute. What's to keep bussed in thugs with black leather berets and night sticks from beating up everyone in Mass? They can call it the "Boston Massacres" and if that's taken, the Brown Down.
How many boxes of ballots do you think they already have filled out? Ed Shultz, on national media, is encouraging people to vote 10 times, for god's sake. These people are criminals.

A lot of conservatives are considering 2010 the last chance for deomcracy in America. That in itself says a lot about people's perception of things. But stealing elections in this cycle, whether it be by ballot stuffin, voter intimidation, or legal wrangling after a close election, would be considered the last straw.
And then what...

I found this blog, redmassgroup.com, and I'm very impressed by it (but I'm just a moron, so what do I know.)
It well organized, current, interesting, and nicely done. Some republicans should be paying close attention to this. It's got photos and posts from onsite bloggers, endorsements for Brown from local politicians, even a different video clip of Obama being heckled, and the text of Brown's speech today. Snip:
Doug Flutie, what can I say, great guy, great career, and I am proud you are here. John Ratzenberger, a wonderful actor, you brought a lot of laughs to us during your many years with Cheers. Fred and Steve, you are legends and good friends. Ayla, thank you for again sharing your beautiful voice. Millions have seen her on national TV, and going through this campaign I've got an idea of what Ayla went through on "American Idol." She had to deal with Simon Cowell, and I had to deal with David Gergen.
Our campaign is going strong, and the finish line is in sight. The day of decision is almost here. The whole nation is watching, but the choice on Election Day belongs to you and no one else. Friends and fellow citizens, I'm Scott Brown, I'm from Wrentham, I drive a truck and I'm asking for your vote.
When we started this campaign just a few months ago, the political machine wrote us off. A Senate seat in Massachusetts, we were told, was already spoken for - and this special election was just a minor detail that wouldn't get in the way. The political machine already had a short-term placeholder in the Senate. Now all they needed was a long-term placeholder, and everything had been arranged.
Well, there was just one little problem with that plan - the independent-thinking people of Massachusetts wanted a real choice, and they - and you -- have made this a real contest.
The voters are doing their own thinking, and the machine politicians don't quite know how to react. So they put in a distress call to Washington, and the next thing you know, Air Force One is landing at Logan.
My first response is very simple: Democrat or Republican, the president of the United States is always welcome in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts...

This is not about being a Democrat or being a Republican, it is about being an American and standing up for those who have gone before us; those who have given their lives for our freedoms and our constitution. This is about taking America back from those in power who have stopped listening to those who have placed them there. This is about being an American Patriot, and Massachusetts knows that first hand. This is our time to start the take-back of our country, vote for the person and not the party... Vote for Scott Brown!
This is a game-changer!

Couple of things - based on what I see/hear going on the Brown campaign is pretty serious about sniffing-out potential fraud. Personally I think outright theft would be pretty tough as this is the only game in town and everyone will be watching.
A Coakley victory at this point would be an absolutely serious WTF moment. I mean, even Pravda on the Bay (the Boston Globe) is reporting that Scott outdrew Captain Wonderful's rally - how the heck does a Republican State Senator draw more ralliers in Worcester than a Democrat President of the United States draws in Boston - and yet the Democrat wins the election - if it's not outright theft on a Biblical scale.
Heck, rumors are there were more of Scott's people outside Zero's rally than Coakley's people inside - and there were almost zero of Coakley's people visible in Worcester today.
Let me put it this way - if the rolls were completely reversed between the candidates I would think this is a perfectly typical Massachusetts election.

The Democrat's will not give up until the last illegal vote is counted.
I for one am sick of the expected cheating and voter fraud perpetuated by the commie party that's never challenged. Tomorrow, the Va. Tea Party is hosting a 10th Amendment Revolution and Lobby Day on the Capitol grounds.
You can bet I'll be lobbying my rep to nake voter fraud a felony offense. States are the last bastion of democracy (in most cases), and if the commiecraps get their way in DC, the only recourse you'll have is your state. Ensure your sacred vote. Start at the state level. When the same requests start rolling in ad nauseum they know something's up and the natives are restless.

From Paul Revere's House:
Revere left several accounts of his ride, and although he states that he borrowed the horse from John Larkin, neither he nor anyone else takes much notice of the mount, or refers to it by name. Revere calls it simply "a very good horse." In the years since 1775 many names have been attached to the animal, the most exotic probably being Scheherazade. The only name for which there is any evidence, however, is Brown Beauty.

The thing is, this is beyond Coakley, this is about someone stopping all the crappy nonsense comning out of DC. Coakley is just the first politician in 2010 who is seeing the effects of this tsunamai that is still gaining strength. And as soon as she said she would be the 60th vote, and scott said he would be the 41th vote to block all this nonsense, people were drawn to scott.
And this is absolutely a referndum on Obama/Pelosi/Reid and their radical agenda, this is the main reason.

If a democrat can't win the seat that Ted Kennedy held for four bazillion drunken, lard-ass years, then it's pretty damning evidence that the average American is rejecting O's all-big-government all-the-time policies.
But for some reason, I picture The One's sycophantic lackeys soothing his hurt feelings and insisting that it isn't HIM or HIS policies, but just that Massachusetts ran a bad candidate. And that Obama's fragile, immature ego will buy into that 100 %.
Which is all good as far as I'm concerned. The more deluded he is in thinking that he's right, the easier it will be to dislodge him from his thrown.

It is, but it's also the state of politics today. Obviously stolen elections (see Al Franken) are the bread and butter of Dems. But they accuse Repubs of stealing elections out of projection (see Bush 2000) and if Repub wins, there has to be a huge margin to cover for any Dems rigging the election. We know they do and there's little that can be done to stop it without vigilant poll workers and vigilant registrars. Good luck finding enough of them.
Besides, wasn't JFK's first election famously rigged so he could win? It's not like this is anything new.

You've obvoiusly not been paying attention to our new friends (once dem, now conserv), who know how the game is played. You're supposed to "tie up their limited resources." Keeping this guy on the phone, getting him to justify why you should vote for Mofra OR putting the phone down and walking away while he yammers on takes away valuable time and effort from the campaign. I do this every election in Arlington, VA and average 8 to 12 elderly voters in a day. You'll have some wonderful, if loud, conversations and you'll feel good about yourself. Also, old people have an interesting scent - they'll get rid of that new car smell.

Don Surber bought into the "it helps Mofra" camp, but that's bunk. The Repubs are the ones motivated to vote, even if it means crawling over broken glass. The dems are so complacent, they'll stay home. ACORN buses will get stuck in the snow, so we got that goin' for us.

Besides, wasn't JFK's first election famously rigged so he could win? It's not like this is anything new.
Daley delivered Illinois for him. Maybe this is payback by the newest Kennedy brother.

They aren't going to be tainted by the period when Coakley was up by 30% and before Brown got his enormous wave?
/nuther thing for me to worry about.

Do they count them as they come in? I thought most states kept them in a dumpster on the odd chance the election was close... then they _might_ count them.
Posted by: Vet Missing Parts at January 17, 2010 10:20 PM (MCHyX)

They're not officially counted, no. Those are "exit polls" done by people who have said they submitted absentee and who they voted for.

That would be wicked ball dipping good.
You'd also love the wailings from Bobby Kennedy Jr about how all those "poor minority voters" were disenfranchised because they had to stand outside in the cold waiting for a tow truck to pull them out of a ditch

Aw hell, I'm not naive, I'm just f'n tired of this crap. Dems have been blatant about vote fraud for the last 5 election cycles. I'm not talking about a district here or there, or a few votes here or there, I'm talking about systemic, open fraud on a mass scale. Like more votes than registered voters (Milw. 20004), or busses that take the same voters from place to place, caught on video, AFTER polls are supposed to be closed (St. Louis, 2000)....The list could go on, but I'd only be preaching to the choir.
\My question is...what the fuck are we going to do about it?

The Black Panther's have been ordered into Massachusetts to guard and protect each and every polling station from extremists. Public displays of candidate support will not be allowed, and to further protect the integrity of the voting process, no parking will be permitted within 1000 feet of the voting station.

Earlier, as dignitaries arrived at the Cabot Center, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, when asked whether Coakley’s recent dip in the polls was related to sentiments about President Obama, quipped, “President Obama is not Martha Coakley in drag.”

I have stood in the cathedral in Cologne. It is either beautiful or oppressive depending on your spiritual point of view. The Reformation put a 300 year hurt on its construction budget. 95 theses nailed on a door became a rallying cry for freedom and dried up indulgences.
The church was caught flat-footed, but persecution machinery takes a while to build. Luther at least got to pass away naturally while others fared far worse:
Tyndale's final words, spoken "at the stake with a fervent zeal, and a loud voice", were reported as "Lord! Open the King of England's eyes!"
Government has lost its fear of the people. One would hope that a smack down in the bluest of states would open the eyes of our elected officials. --but fear of getting thrown out of office will work too.

You are suffering from the Triple L Syndrome. Otherwise known as La-la-land Syndrome. You have no earthly idea that your reality differs from those actually paying attention.
Obama is not awesome. At the end of the day, sweetheart, you must admit that you have voted for a man because you wanted to say *you* voted for the first black prez.
You did not use your brain, but your emotions. You did not vote for a man who had experience that counts to be the leader of a nation. No. You voted for empty words. Hope and Change. We have seen a lot of appeasing, apologizing and lying, but no hope and no change.
And now, all of the democrats who choose to tow the party line for the power instead of the people are getting their asses handed to them bit by bit. Including the Pied Piper.
(Side note: Why did Obama cross the road? He didn't, he just promised to.)
Instead of focusing on the economy, The Pied Piper focused on apologies, partying, and pretending. While he has been pretending, he has begun the process to kill the Country and remember, that you will go down with it, should it happen.
We will all have higher taxes, unemployment is higher and higher, people are not getting new jobs, inflation is beginning. Do you think you are going to be immune? I can't even begin to talk health care.
Take off the Rose-colored Glasses. Save yourself.

The Left honestly was convinced he was a 'Magic Negro.' That, somehow, despite no real accomplishments, with no track record of leadership, with nothing but fuzzy talk, he was going to be some revolutionary, transformative figure, make the oceans part, the sky to brighten, the Earth to cool, bring Nirvana down to Earth with his mystic powers. Anyone with an ounce of sense could have seen this posturing jackass had no demonstrated capacity for the job.
And, with liberal projection, they were convinced that their own head-over-heels love for the guy would be shared by everyone around the world and the Age of Kumbaya would dawn as they all lay down their arms and sing his praises.
They were drunk on stupid because of their own innate racism and inability to treat dark-skinned people as complete human beings instead of something for their own dream-fulfillment.
