— Dave in Texas Is the illegal immigrant argument about race or politics?
Loaded question.
Consider this 2007 video from Sanchee H.S. history teacher Ron Gochez at a La Raza rally at UCLA.
"Stolen, occupied Mexico... at the forefront of a revolutionary movement, La Raza. Our commandante, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez", et. al. "40 million of 'our people' north of the Rio Grande." Most of whom have lived here for generations, as Americans.
The argument is not about immigrants. It's not about Hispanics. It's about whether said immigrants have the desire to participate in the culture and polity of the United States of America and the benefits that become possible with that assimilation, or whether instead they would rather be used by political groups who co-opt them to achieve their political goals, using racial divisiveness and hate-mongering to advance a political agenda.
I think this is largely what we find so offensive about the protests to Arizona's SB1070, and so many of these protesters displaying Mexican flags (not to mention kids getting hammered for wearing U.S. flag regalia on May 5). The protesters on the left and in the MFM play the race card against something that isn't racial, it's political, it's an ideological argument, for or against the concept of national identity and borders.
Gochez is an a idiot but he's an honest idiot in a way, he isn't crying racism so much as he's declaring you have a bit of a problem with supporting capitalism (the "imperialism" bitch rant is the dishonest part and he plays it like the racist card. I'll bet in his warped analysis of history he interprets U.S. sovereignty in the southwestern United States as "imperialism"). His goofy discourse of "history" will completely fail to recall the other nations that were on the stage, hello, Spain. Do not ask him about the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo or the Gadsden Purchase, I doubt he studied his history that well.
via Rosetta at H2. Also the "race vs. politics" I gleaned from a discussion with co-blogger LauraW and another blog friend.

Political sure, but my resistance to illegal immigration is their resistance to cultural assimilation and economic costs with the benefit side of illegal immigration going primarily to the illegals themselves and their employers.
Nothing is so costly to the rest of us as "cheap" labor.

I've lived in deep South Texas, in Towns that were 90%+ Mexican. (Not "Hispanic," dipshits: Thats a three-dollar word for junior college nitwits and journalist gringas from Dallas.) There is nothing so moving that a Memorial Day ceremony in such a town, in front of the school, where veterans of WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and others gather to remember their comrades, and celebrate their country.
I'm a total guero myself, but the son of an grateful immigrant from a dreadful Scandi country, so on these occasions I'm with citizens with a longer American patrimony than my own.

I read Doug Ross' write up about this earlier. Along with being a commie reconquista revolutionary member of La Raza, he is also a rabid anti-semite and pedophile who likes to post pics of scantily clad underage girls on his MySpace page and the guy is a school teacher. Disgusting.
If you listen to his comments about Jews, retaking the southwest and about brown people being the master race, there is pretty much no difference in what he is saying now and what Hitler was saying in 1933.

Also Mexico (and Spain and, to be fair, Texas as an independent state) never controlled the Comancheria, and they should quit pretending they did.
Spain / Mexico had very little control over the Southwest in general. They were integrated into the Comanche network, not Mexico's.
Which leaves Mexico with... Mexico. And they don't really control the north or the Maya region to this day.

"Is the illegal immigrant argument about race or politics?
Loaded question."
We don't have an immigration debate in this country. Who the hell is against immigration? Very damned few people, that's who. The Conservatives have no fzcking mental discipline on this issue. When you call it "illegal immigration", or just "the immigration debate" or whatever, you are ceding the battlespace to the left. Until the right recognizes this, welcome to Mexamerica, losers!
We can do this while allowing a large influx of "hispanic" (whatever the hell that means) immigrants and guest workers, and welcome to them! Hell yes! I love most of Mexican culture. I despise La Raza, and anyone else who makes this about race. Race is a lie, and so is the use of the term illegal immigrant.

So let's see here. The Spanish conquered the Aztecs. Outside of trade, there is no known Aztec presense in say, Arizona, New Mexico, or California.
Spain did, however, establish churches in all those states.
However, Mexico is not Spain.
So how does Mexico have claim? And then there is just that darn Indian problem.
Tough nut to crack...

We need to change the language in this argument about illegal immigration. We need to drop the word "immigration" from our discussions since this describes the natural and legal movement of people from one place to another.
Instead we should use the word "infiltration", and talk about illegal or unnatural infiltration. This way we can keep the left from skewing our arguments into "we were all immigrants, once" or other such B. S.

It would be about a relatively young guilt-ridden guy named United States who is depressed, broke, and suicidal and thinks maybe the world would be better if he never existed.
Then an angel named Samuel is sent from the Heavens to intervene and show how lousy the world would be without United States.

He drew a line between Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, and today's challenges.
"What Jefferson recognized... that in the long run, their improbable experiment -- called America -- wouldn't work if its citizens were uninformed, if its citizens were apathetic, if its citizens checked out, and left democracy to those who didn't have the best interests of all the people at heart.
"It could only work if each of us stayed informed and engaged, if we held our government accountable, if we fulfilled the obligations of citizenship."

You don't like your lot in life, the hand history has dealt you- fuck you. Tell it to the United Nations. If you wanted the land so bad you would have done something about it at the time. You didn't, and it's Arizona now. You want reconquista? Fine. You bring your tanks to the border and we'll bring our tanks to the border and we'll see who has more territory at the end of the fucking day. I'm sick and fucking tired of the losers crying 'no fair'. They can all suck the barbed cock of Satan.

They are always two or three generations removed from Mexico. When I would speak out in class and mention Mexico's horrible racism, corruption, poverty and all-around shitiness and declare that I'm pretty glad the U.S. now owns California they are utterly shocked.
Trying to explain that Mexico stole the land in the first place is just way over their heads.

On top of THAT basic foundational principle this "teacher" violates, is the fact that MEXICO did NOT itself actually occupy the lands of these American states, even though some of their peoples wee on the lands.
But the MEXICO GOVERNMENT didn't have any6 GOVERN MENTAL NETWORK set up in those lands that were only wild and open territories at the time.
And when I say "WILD" - I am NOT speaking in terms of raucous crime-ridden outlaw havens. Thee was some crime, but prolly not a fraction of what many today suppose - the populatin was simply not there.
"WILD" as in NOT Govt -managed-to-death - but FREE! Anyone there in those days was on their own.
ALL the governments of Mexico in those days wee the BLOODIEST of dictatorships and most of them were European, by the time in question - the only "local" government being long gone when the Spanish destroyed the Aztecs.
These "Reconquistas" and Azatlans and street gangs are not fighting to retake the USA for the AZTECS. Who never had legitimate claims that far North anyway.
The fact that some European nation of Spain or France's military hunta came north and planted a flag and a Catholic mission on ground (that is now USA by the virtue and power of the vote of the settlers on it declaring themselves in favor of becoming a state in the union of the United States of America) does not ever constitutes a genuine claim for Mexico made by the likes of Maximillian or Santa Anna or Juarez. THEN OR NOW!
Henry Clay - An oppressed people are authorized, whenever they can, to rise and break their fetters.
That person claiming falsely to be a "teacher" is in fact a bald thief, and nothing LESS!

There ARE 6 billion people in the world. Almost all of them dirt poor. Are we going to take them all? Most? Even some?
No. We take any more, we turn into the places those poor people want to flee.
We don't have the money, jobs, open land, or anything else.
We need to close ALL Immigration, legal and illegal. We have US Citizens who need jobs, no need to import more job-seekers. We have US Citizens who need help, in health, education, and welfare spending. Hopefully, a short-time assistance to get people back to work, making money.
We can't do that if we take in any more people. The only exception should be multi-millionaires seeking to invest completely in the US. If Chinese and Korean mulit-millionaires want to invest $20 million in the US (or Carlos Slim) that's fine. We won't take more than 1,000 folks off that list, because that's all there is.

and please, chuckles, and other such minions, spare me the nativist, racist crap. i come from a multi-racial family, and am bi-racial so go F- yourselves...remember, only "white" people can be racist...anyway, i digress...
why is this guy teaching in american schools? he obviously hates this country, and has a political agenda of a rather revolutionary bent. people, you really need to watch who is teaching your children. there are radical teachers like this in k-12 education all over the country, and the reason why they are there is because YOU do nothing about it.
