— Gabriel Malor Praise Jebus the primary is over in South Carolina, that was dirty. But Nikki Haley pulled out a win with 63 percent. Not bad.
Tim Scott also won in a GOP Congressional nomination last night, holding off Paul Thurmond, son of the late Strom Thurmond.
Both are victories for voters wanting to shake up the South Carolina GOP establishment. Haley, in particular, saw how desperately they fear she will shake things up from the governor's mansion. Both were endorsed by Sarah Palin, which brings her win-loss to 9-3 this cycle.
The other big victory last night was Mike Lee, who finally won the privilege of fighting for Senator Bob Bennett's seat in Utah. Both Lee and his opponent Tim Bridgewater claimed to be outsiders, but in the runoff Bridgewater got endorsements from the GOP convention and from kicked-to-the-curb Bennett. Lee had the support of the Tea Party.
Lee's win represents another score for Senator Jim DeMint's Senate Conservatives Fund.

Bridgewater should have refused Bennett's endorsement. He might have won without it.
Lee is a big upgrade over the McCain like BB.

The secret to Nikki Haley's win was her dot. We now understand that the dot has magical powers the same as Dick Cheney's WarCock!

Huck ain't going anywhere. He damn near has to win Iowa and I don't see him doing that.
The base is fed up. I know the GOP is the stupid party but I think conservatives will rally around new blood. I'm hoping its Ryan, but their are a few other good possibilities as well.
Mittens, T-Paw, Huck and the like (especially Huck) are toast.

Turfed indeed. Gowdy came away w/ 71% of the vote. I was happy to do my part to oust Inglis and get Haley to that Governor's mansion.

9-3 gets you a pretty good bowl game, usually.
Cotton Bowl for Mrs Palin! Soft, shimmering cotton, falling loosely across her breast.

When Huckabee's gig at Fox is over, he can do another Jerry Springer or Maury Povich public interest show such as "Confessions of Truthful Politicians."

Yesterday was the first I'd heard of the dog-killing incident. It only came to light when Huckabee's son was arrested for trying to get a Glock on a plane.

Watching the GOP founder around like a blind hog in a bog is painful. How long are they going to tolerate Steele's weak tea? The SOB has all of the leadership abilities of Comrade Zero. None. We don't have the luxury of keeping a wimp like Steele. The GOP needs a direction. The Gop needs a coherent message. The GOP needs a leader. They got nuttin.
How about John Voight? He seems to be a much better voice for conservatism than anyone else at lleast he isn't hiding. Fuck me runnin'.

Inglis turned into a moderate in the last two years, notice that his predecessor for that seat (and his successor from 20 years back) Jim DeMint had no trouble holding on to his nomination this election cycle, nor did Joe "You Lie!" Wilson.

What? Conservatives won a bunch of primaries yesterday, so methinks me likes the current trend. Any day we do not hear from Michael Steele is a good day.

Agree with everything you said. He won't sneak up on anyone and he's got more baggage now than last time around.
His compassionate conservativism on steroids is a big loser in this climate as well.

Heh. I'm aware of 2008. Won't happen again though.
Alan Keyes came in third in Iowa in 2000 and I don't see that happening again either.

Minnesota's Congresswoman, Michelle Bachman, is an extremely effective force for change with which the Democrats will have to reckon. Her laid-back, thoughtful, soft-spoken and level-headed approaches to addressing and resolving issues serve in stark cotrast to the shrill screeching of Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton, and unlike those two witches, the honorable Ms. Bachman is a classy, charismatic and very pretty woman, too.
Although both of them are are now on FOX's payroll, it is perhaps interesting to note the frequency with which FOX's executives call on Mike Huckabee in give his viewpoints on issues versus the infrequency with which FOX's executives bother to get Sarah Palin's analysis of issues, a situation which is, I suspect, similar to the problems that McCain's people had with Ms. Palin, also, during their unsuccessful campaign in 2008.
Compared to Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin is a lightweight, and voters would recognize that in a head-to-head contest between the two of them.

I understand where you're coming from but fuck that shit unless this is her choice on her role. It is unacceptable for the MFM cocksuckers to dictate who I can or can't vote for. Those quislings have already done too much to fuck over this country for us to put up with anything further.

Hell, the IPTV debate is why I voted for him in the 2000 caucus. He was the only guy up there who bothered to answer the questions with anything resembling a governing philosophy.
I'm not getting a sense that Iowans have learned jack shit since 2008 (except how easy it is to pack the Dem caucus with out-of-state college students). Huck and Obama again in 2012...unless either of them mentions cutting corn subsidies to lessen the amount of high fructose corn syrup in the American diet in their fascist desire to control our eating habits. Bah.

I suppose you don't really watch FOX all that much. Palin has been all over FOX the last several months, including Fox Business Network.
All of the programs on FOX are always trying to get Palin on their timeslot, she is the biggest ratings draw they have.
Your opinion here is very ignorant. Palin is no lightweight, and Bachmann and Palin are friends who are mutually supportive.
No head to head will happen there.
Doesn't even make sense.

Re: #33 - My, um, subtle point there was that Sarah Palin is not a viable presidential candate. She speaks from her heart, not with her brain. In a match up with a calm, thoughtful and level-headed Democrat, she would have her ass handed to her. Savvy leaders of the Republican Party recognize that fact.
BTW, have you noticed that the MSM likes Michelle Bachman? They would be hard pressed to ever get any dirt on her. Adversely, they have already categorized Sarah Palin as an entertaining ditz, and not without some justification. Her voice is like the screeching of fingernails on a blackboard.

This is too funny.
Okay, let's put it this way: In a primary match up with heavyweights like Ryan or Jindal or a few other heavyweights that I could name, Palin would be way out of their league.
One never knows, though. There is always the whimsical factor; i.e., the question of who women voters will support, for whatever the reason. A case in point: In their debate, Devore was very impressive and Fiorina came across as lackluster at best, and yet Fiorina won the the primary, giving Californians a choice between an obnoxious Democrat or a sleazy Republican in the upcoming fall election for that Senate seat. Go figure.

Big Oil execs respect her negotiating prowess. She won lawsuits against them. And got them to spud new oil wells for the first time in 30 years.
She got the AGIA legislation passed 59 to 1 in the AK legislature.
That's toughness.
That's practical bi-partisanship.
That's pretty heavyweight stuff.
You apparently know nothing of her record. Read none of her notes. Listen to none of her commentary. And don't follow the feedback on her commentary, including how many others continue to say "Palin was right."
Would a lightweight get the support of IBD in several editorials?
Or of prominent Jewish Americans www.jewsforsarah.com?
So.
Who's your candidate?
What's your self-interest in shooting down Sarah Palin everywhere you go?
Posted by: hrh at June 23, 2010 08:04 AM (wKcfz)
Yeah, Palin's picks have been pretty dam& solid. Haley and Scott are both winners cut from her mold. If she helps Fiorina beat Boxtard for the CA Senate this fall, Palin will be very hard to beat for the nomination in '12.

"Or of prominent Jewish Americans www.jewsforsarah.com?"
"Prominent"? I'm skeptical. Many, though certainly not all "Prominent" Jewish Americans have been the lunatic fringe in this country for years. I can think of, um, two exceptions.
(How's that for "incendiary"?)

#51 - You're not paying attention. It's perception, perception, perception and the new record that little Miss Cutesy is making for herself.
Rightly or wrongly, she is pereceived to be ditzy and too cutesy, you know, kind of like a beauty pageant contestant, who lost, but who refuses to get off of the stage, and who keeps doing encores of her corny tap dancing routine repititiously as the audience leaves the theater. Ah for the good, old days when a guy off stage with a hook would have hooked her neck and dragged her kicking and screaming off of the stage.
Don't get me wrong. I like little Miss Cutesy. No, let me rephrase that. I don't dislike her. I just think that it is by design that, to make Republicans look foolish, the MSM are putting a spotlight on her that should be put on much more qualified and much more electable Republican presidential candidates, and, therefore, I wish that she would get her fat ass off of the stage. Not that she will, for she'll keep dragging out her 15 minutes of fame tediously to the appluese of the small handful of eccentrics left in the theater ...; the beauty pageant contestant who will never go away, like a ghost ship forever sailing and haunting the seven seas.

A Thought, Or Two
The mere fact that Palin irritates you so much is, in itself, sufficient cause to want her to stay around the political scene for the next 20 years or even more. However you (and your clones) have been calling her an irrelevant no hoper for nearly two years yet she is still around and clearly having a major impact on politics.
She doesn't dance to anybody's tune on the right or the left and doesn't care who she antagonises and what you can't grasp is that is the source of her strength - unlike most politicians she says what she thinks is right not what she thinks people want to hear and that is leadership, in spades.
She doesn't play to the normal rules of politics yet, so far, she has shown herself to be one of the canniest and cunning players on the current scene.
Would she become President? does she want to be President? Who knows...but I wager that many people would sleep more soundly in their beds at night knowing that this rather mysterious woman was keeping watch.....
