— Dave in Texas I hate em right back.
ItÂ’s worse than that. Democrats arenÂ’t just dateless dweebs clambering upon the Statue of Liberty carrying a wilted bouquet and trying to cop a feel. Theirs is a different kind of love story. Power, not politics, is what the Democrats love. Politics is merely a way to powerÂ’s heart. When politics is the technique of seduction, good looks are unnecessary, good morals are unneeded, and good sense is a positive liability. Thus Democrats are the perfect Lotharios. And politics comes with that reliable boost for pathetic egos, a weapon: legal monopoly on force. If persuasion fails to win the day, coercion is always an option.
At the damned heart of every legislative and executive encumbrance they inflict on us is this: they are buying votes to stay in power over us. Health care. Cap and tax. Environmental bullshit. Financial regulation. Union pension bailouts.
All of it boils down to this. Control over us. Squeeze the goose until it can't lay again (see Europe, et.al.).
This is not an election on November 2. This is a restraining order. Power has been trapped, abused and exploited by Democrats. Go to the ballot box and put an end to this abusive relationship. And letÂ’s not hear any nonsense about letting the Democrats off if they promise to get counseling.
I wouldn't believe em no matter what they say. Nov. 2, restraining order. Put it on em.

I read this earlier. Fantastic piece. And yes, they do hate everything and everyone. Miserable lot those liberals.
A restraining order. Might be the best line of this political season.

I kind of expected him to be more cynical about the Tea Party and this election, given that, up to 2008, he'd been more snarky against conservatives. Nice to see him all fired up.

Instead of trashing it, I opened it. Turns out it is a plug for Sean Bielat. It seemed to be targeted at Massholes like me, so you might not get one. But, if you get a letter from Allahpundit's father in law, open it up. It may be requesting money for a semi-local congressional race. I had a friend murdered by her ex-husband; the restraining order said he couldn't own a gun, so he didn't--he slit her throat. I expect the hate-left to do the same sort of thing--think Nancy Pelosi meeting with Syria behind W's back, or Code Pink giving aid to the Taliban.

Hate is a powerful word and not one to be taken lightly but that's exactly how I feel about the left.
Any idea of trying to come together or an attempt at bi-partisanship is simply making a deal with the devil. If it were up to them, we'd drop dead into a mass grave. We're only a speed bump on the way to Godless Utopia.
Fuck them. Fight dirty. I'm tired of this nancy-ass shit.

Wow.
Lest anyone think this is over-the-top, here a dirct quote from my hard-core leftist brother, from just yesterday:
George Will is one of my favorite columnist. I went to the U if Chicago where Milton Freedman was considered a God. I like smart people on either side. I hate people who pander or appeal to people's darker side to get into power. I hate Sarah Palin because she is not just ignorant, but stupid. Likewise with O'donnell. Orin Hatch is brilliant and I can see how he and Teddy Kennedy could be best friends. I just want the people I elect run the country to be brutally honest and hopefully smarter than I am.[Emphasis mine]
So in this era of political correctness, where Juan Williams can be fired for saying obvious, normal things, apparently it's OK to label people as "stupid", after all, and hate speech is OK, as long as you hate the right people, and make sure that's it's clear that you don't just hate everybody.
Gee, he works at a school, where there are probably stupid kids in attendance - I hope he doesn't do anything hateful towards them.
But I don't really worry about that, because this is obviously total BS. Am I to believe that the two people in the world would are worthy of his hatred are coincidentally both inexperienced conservative politicians, attractive women besides, and also always on the attack by the Leftwing media? Maybe they have a thing where they hate "stupid" people, too.
This is an absolute meltdown.

"I hate Sarah Palin because she is not just ignorant, but stupid."
Venturing a guess here, but Optimizer's brother hates Sarah Palin because he's been told over and over to hate Sarah Palin.
Another guess: The Left hates Sarah Palin because no one owns her. The system allows Democrats in power can go after corrupt Republicans and Republicans in power can go after corrupt Democrats, but when a Republican governor brings down a corrupt Republican, everyone deems her as out of control. Furthermore, when a Republican demonstrates herself as not fitting the stereotype of being under the control of Big Oil, people get very scared.
Sarah Palin, then, is the scariest imaginable creature: She speaks her mind and follows her conscience. That's why she must be destroyed.

I don't think I've ever seen such a look of misery and dejection on the face of my daughter as I just did a moment ago. She just couldn't understand why the President would be going on vacation again the day after the November elections when so many things are wrong in this country. "DoesnÂ’t Mr. Obama care about us anymore?" she asked pitifully.
I sat down with her on the sofa and (as calmly as I could) tried to explain to her why the President seems to be abandoning his country. "Honey, I think his boss, Mr. Soros, is sending Mr. Obama out of the country in order to keep Mr. Obama from having to answer for his incredible failures.. You see, he wasn’t sure if Mr. Obama's friends in the media were still going to be his friends on November 3rd or not, and so he planned Mr. Obama's trip ahead of time just in case...”
I tried to keep my voice steady, but it became increasingly difficult - the rage and feelings of helplessness were just too much. I think my daughter could tell something was wrong. I found myself at such a loss for words - nothing made any sense; nothing makes sense anymore. I finally had to admit, "Honey, I just don't know - I don't know what's going on in this country anymore..."
When I finished her lower lip started to tremble and her eyes began to fill with tears, "Daddy" she said, "why are the Republicans doing this to the country?" Well, that was it for me: I finally fell apart. She just fell into my arms and we both began sobbing for several minutes.
For once she had to comfort me and get me back on my feet. Sometimes I just think it's too much, but seeing the strength in my young daughter's voice helped me to get through.

Che Che --
If you want things to make sense, please click the link at the first line of this post, right under the headline.
Then ask yourself how much merit there is to Mr. O'Rourke's words. Do you think Sarah Palin hates people like you and your daughter? How about Nancy Pelosi? George W. Bush?
Think also of the AIG workers who were practically called traitors by Attornies General Cuomo and Blumenthal, Senator Dodd and President Obama, workers whose salaries were deemed unpatriotic and so are now taxed at a rate of 90%. Do you think these four gentlemen like regular folks, people who aren't in politics but rather live private lives and hold private, important jobs? Or do you think there's a touch of malice toward the people they've agreed to serve?

I clicked anyway, and there was O'Rourke, laying it down solid and true. Unexpected. Wow.
The only things that needs to be added to what PJ said is this: we have to watch every single fuckin' polling place in the country on election day. The fraud has already begun with early/mail-in voting states. It won't stop there.
Take a video camera. Film every misbegotten union thug, Black Panther or Obamazombie who tries to effect the voting process. Call the cops, send the video to every TV outlet you know. Put it on YouTube.
Even if we win, as we should, those who want to destroy the country and those power-mad loons who believe in "by any means necessary" need to be stomped and jailed.
As for Boehner: the first thing we need to do after the election is let him know that the "R' by his name won't protect him, or any other Washington insider. If they want to play the game and continue with their antics at the expense of real Americans, they go next.

I still buy books but magazines make me a bit nostalgic.

I shit you not, my young friends; once upon a time, in the very near past, you would write a check to some organization like Scientific American or National Review or Harper's or The Atlantic or Seventeen and they would send you stuff to read via USPS on a regular schedule.

I know, it sounds fantastic but it actually happened.

ErikW @ #69: My 6 year old niece asked me why we pollute beaches after watching The Suite Life on Deck with Cody and Zack.
Why we pollute beaches? Y'see, I ask a different question after watching that show. Like, How did they get to Paris? I mean, the S. S. Tipton has got to be Suezmax at least, and Paris is quite a bit inland, sitting on a river. There's no way they're steering a cruise ship up the Seine. These kids can barely be trusted to gather towles for the ship's laundry, yet they're OK with train schedules that take them from ports to inland cities?
I'm waiting for them to take a cruise to Moscow.

Do not be fooled by so-called blue dog Democrats. They run with the pack. They vote with the rest.
"Amen!"
When Gillibrand was appointed to replace Hillary, I was encouraged. But she immediately took a hard turn left, to appease Long Island & NYC, and went along with Obama & his goons on everything.
I look forward to the day when I feel comfortable voting for the occasional Democrat - the day when the moderate Democrats are not within the death-grip of the marxists. Until that day comes - and it's a ways off - all you're doing is putting a "useful idiot" in office, and being one yourself.
Let's remember how many long-time Democrats retired early, undoubtedly because they couldn't stand Obama's bullying. I'm even starting to hear moderate Democrats say they "don't have a party".
It's really, really, bad - the worse I've ever seen.
