— Dave in Texas Chapter, hellI'velostcount, 470 in why Chris Christie eats lightning and craps thunder.
"The teachers union is about the accumulation and exercise of raw power."
I'm just an idiot from Texas, where we speak plainly through locally familiar metaphors, like "go piss up a rope."
This guy speaks plainly, like "You punch them. I punch you."
I continue to be impressed with his approach.

TRENTON — For years, the state’s elected officials and others with political connections had a direct pipeline to the hottest concerts and sporting events in New Jersey.
Springsteen. U2. BonJovi. It didnÂ’t matter.
Commissioners, legislators, judges — even the governor’s office — were able to score scarce or prime seats at public venues without ever going through a ticket scalper. They simply called the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority or the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and asked for house seats.
Previous coverage:
Today, Gov. Chris Christie shut the exclusive ticket window.
In letters to both agencies, Jeffrey Chiesa, the governor’s chief counsel, said the controversial perk was a violation of the state’s ethics code and could not be offered to any state officers or employees — including cabinet members, employees of the governor’s office, authority members or the Legislature. Chiesa said any house seats for future events that have already been contractually provided to the authorities by promoters must be turned over to the box office and made available to the public.

I'll have to learn more about CC before making a final judgment and there are ways for him to be "common-sense" about the 2nd which I'd find acceptable without being a gun-grabber r someone the gun-grabbers will use. I don't get why gun control should be a major concern for a PoTUS candidate. He's supposed to be an administrator, not a legislator; a dumb congress is going to pass stupid laws anyway and I think that CC has enough sense to not make gun control a big deal if'n he were PoTUS. Besides, I would FAR prefer someone who would break up unions to some one who coddles them.
On the immigration, yeah, he's a wuss. But no one else has stepped up to the plate so it's not really a major concern. Besides, he's way better than our last few PoTUSs.

"Christie was named U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey in 2002. As the chief federal law enforcement officer in New Jersey, Christie earned praise from leaders in both parties and drew national attention for his efforts in battling political corruption, corporate crime, human trafficking, gangs, terrorism and polluters. Christie led a widely acclaimed charge against public corruption. Regardless of party affiliation or political influence, when laws were broken, Christie took action. His office racked up an astonishing record - winning convictions or guilty pleas from over 130 public officials - both Republican and Democrat - without losing a single case.
Some of ChristieÂ’s most notable cases involved some of the worst in
New Jersey. He fought against gang violence when he prosecuted 45
members of the Double II Bloods; he fought against child pornography
when he helped bring down 1500 child pornographers worldwide; once he
stood up to polluters who neglected their obligation to our environment.
One of ChristieÂ’s finest moments was when he led the team that thwarted
terrorists' plans to attack our military men and women at Fort Dix.
While
each of ChristieÂ’s cases made a difference for New Jersey, he earned
widespread praise for bringing down some of the most corrupt in New
Jersey politics. From Sharpe James to Wayne Bryant, Joe Coniglio to
James Treffinger, Chris was not afraid to stand up to the dirty
practices of the political elite and made clear that stealing from New
Jersey taxpayers or abusing power would not be tolerated.
When Chris left the U.S. Attorney's office on December 1, 2008, every major newspaper in the state applauded his term as New Jersey’s US Attorney. The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote: “Christie has already done more good for New Jersey than some previous governors," and The Bergen Record wrote: “All New Jerseyans owe him a huge debt of gratitude for refusing to accept this state’s sleazy status quo.”

Frankly as a guy who has lived in NJ for over 20 years I really have no idea how to deal with it. It's nice. But it's a bit unnerving too. Like going on an African safari and seeing the actual real animals re-enacting a scene from the Lion King.

but gun control is the one area where conservatives have consistently won (lately), national Dems don;t even bring it up anymore.
well part of the reason its not brought up is because our candidates have been on the winning side. In a race they need to do everything to deenergize the Repub base, they will do it. If Rudy had been the nominee his pro-choice stance would be used as often as possible to discourage the pro-life crowd. Christie would have things brought up to discourage the 2nd amendment crowd

That "corporate owned media" line is Liberal Spin 101. That's what I mean though. It won't be about making it a national issue really. It ill be utilized as a weapon against Christie though It won't be about winnin the issue but about suppressing the people that it is the most important issue for.

- No, what gave us John McCain was that we nominated John McCain.
Think Romney would've been better?
Here's Mitt Romney's position on "Jihadism"-
"I spoke about three major threats America faces on a long term basis. Jihadism is one of them, and that is not Islam...There is, however, a movement in the world known as jihadism. They call themselves jihadists and I use the same term. And this jihadist movement is intent on causing the collapse of moderate Muslim states and the assassination of moderate Muslim leaders. It is also intent on causing collapse of other nations in the world. It's by no means a branch of Islam. It is instead an entirely different entity. In no way do I suggest it is a part of Islam."
That was from an interview last year in US News.
Faced with the possibility of a Republican president mouthing such insane stupidities about such threats as we face...
I think we actually dodged a bullet by electing The Precedent.

Of course they will. They attacked Sarah Palin with every lie and accusation in the book. The incredibly stupid McCain camp probably helped them. That was the worst run campaign I have ever seen.
So how did we wind up with McCain running which in the end guaranteed a commie victory? It was the perfect storm in the primary.
We had a media in love with McCain, he was their Maverick who liked to stab the Republicans in the back and stick his thumbs in the eyes of conservatives. IOW he was just like them. Don't say purity cons either, this SOB went out of his way to insult conservatives and he had a ACU rating of 64 for the year of the run. IOW a perfect RINO actually bordering on DIABLO. So how did he get the support of any Repiublicans? They allowed the media to pick their candidate for them. You see McCain was the only one who could beat Hillary.
We had multiple candidates to dilute and water down the vote in each State. That in itself would not be bad except that we had VERY stupid primary rules in almost ALL the States. They were open primaries which is bad and they were winner take all which is even worse. In the States McCain won while he still had opponents he won all with 30% of the vote.
In the end McCain won with the majority of the base being opposed to him. That is NOT a good place for a Party to be going into an election. And then he ran the world's worst campaign in parallel with a financial collapse engineered by the Dems. And he let them set the tone on that collapse as a Republican failure.
The only thing that McCain did right during the campaign was pick Sarah Palin and then they squandered that. And the squishy side of the Republican base once again showed their ass letting the media influence them in the Palin hate and climbing all over her because she didn't roll over for the libs and Dems in the NE.
All of that combined to cause a large portion of the Republican base to sit out the 2008 election. It was enough to change several key States from Red to Blue and there went the ball game.
And guess what people???? Not much of that has changed since 2008. We still have the GD squishies in charge of the Republican Party and we still have the same BS primary rules with no talk of changing them yet.
This is even in the face of wide spread outrage and a surge in conservatism. Things will have to change greatly in the next two years.

As for the AZ gov the only thing I have heard on that is she made some kind of "conciliatory" statement about Obama. It didn't impress me one way or another. Politicians routinely make those kinds of statement. It is what being a politician is all about. I don't base very much on rhetoric. I base my opinions on actual actions and record.
As for Brown, he has proven to be just about what I expected. I never expected anything other than a RINO in MA. I am willing to give him some more time. If he ultimately winds up being a DIABLO like the MA sisters then I would advocate stripping him of committee assignments and any funding from the Party.

The Va Republican primary is June 8. I got a call last night saying that in the 8th District, gerrymandered home of evil, corrupt, islamist-owned douchebag Jim Moran, the republican candidate Matthew Berry is running neck-in-neck with Moran in the polls.
Either they only polled me or there has been a miracle and the libtards are waking up.
After I expressed my great excitment and assured the caller that I would be there (as well as the rest of my family) to vote in the primary for anyone who could potentially beat Moron, I then expressed my disgust and antipathy for douchebag moran.
The caller said that this was his first phone call and that Berry was his son. I told him that his calls would be going downhill from here because no one is more anti-moran than I, except perhaps the ghosts of the babies he has helped to kill with his 100% NARAL rating, the ghosts of the people killed at the pentagon in his district who he dismissed on 9-12-2001, the ghosts of the people who will die from death panel decisions, the ghosts of the jews he has denegrated his entire life, and the ghosts of the men and women who have died at the hands of the the islamists from whom he takes money.
Good news is: in some poll somewhere, a republican is anywhere near corrupt douchebag Jim Moran in a gerrymandered 68% libtard district.

pretty soon, with everyone working for the government, the unions will be so powerful that a republican will never be elected again....what a system they've developed...

Regarding Christie's stance on gun control, during the call in show on PBS he said that he has no intention of relaxing or adding further restrictions the current laws in NJ. It's an unsurprising position given his history as a former prosecuter.
Secondly, this is not the fight he wants to have now. His focus is on the economy of NJ. He ran as a fiscal conservative, promising to do whatever he could to clean up the mess that is the NJ budget. It appears that's exactly what he's doing. He's not backing down, he's not compromising. He's taking the budget axe and swinging hard, re-election be damned. The fat man has principles.
Personally, I think it's refreshing to see a pol actually live up to the promises of his campaign.

If someone thinks all media is conservative, then they probably think Stalin was a Reaganite.
Heck, I remember hard-line Stalinists in the former Soviet Union being referred to in the media as "right-wingers".

I already know exactly what Obama is gonna say:
"Today we have positive news but we still have a long way to go. My admin and I will not rest until everyone is back to work. We pulled the economy from the brink, but we still have a lot of work to do fix the miss that took eight years to create."

I like this. Depending on the candidate, of course. Then he (face it) can appoint Sarah Secretary of Energy and/or Interior (close Energy, put it under Interior, save some money on stationery).

The democrat party (or what should be called The SOCIALIST UNION DEMOCRAT Party) is all about taxing the productive and giving it to their buddies and folks in the leisure class.
The taking and taxing for corruption(D) and unsustainable cradle to grave entitlements will be the death of a nation.

All of you purity hounds may be listening to Chris Christie, but you are not hearing Chris Christie. The Dems--more an alliance of leeches on productivity than anything else now--are trying to put the final touches on creating a government-dominated society where the individual has no voice unless he acts collectively (union, interest group). And the libs own the collective groups. If we do not roll them back now, then none of these other issues matter. The Dems will soon achieve a state where a majority depend on favors/gifts from either the government or liberal interest groups. Once they get there, they can then do as they please on issues like immigration, gun control, etc.
As CC says, THIS is the fight. Reigning in government largesse to the favored few is an existential issue for all of us who care about limited government. In Christie's neck of the woods, that fight is against the teacher's union, but we know that what he is doing is more than just reigning in one union--it is about the Leviathan government that has been grown on top of the Constitution. That means taking on those who've used this Leviathan to plunder us all.

166....excellent point.
Weird morning so far...Fox is falling for the employment "rebound" numbers hook line and sinker, yet on Yahoo's front page, the headline reads "Economy adds 431,000 jobs but few in private sector." I'm just curious to see how long tat headline remains up.

I'd hit it. (If we were both single, that is.)
The gun control thing is a deal breaker for me, though, as far as Prez. I'm sure he himself would be fine, and not do anything too bad, but all it takes is for one well meaning guy to set some precedent, then the next round of Obama-like Marxists gets in and we're screwed.
Could he do damage as AG? Best karmic fit is Secratary of Labor.
Gov Brewer waffled forever before signing SB1070. I am sure Obambi gave her a thrill up her leg, or between 'em, whatever the case may be...I don't trust her to withstand him, I really don't.

When Cristie goes to New York he likes to climb the Empire State Building and swat biplanes out of the sky. He eats libs and craps fire. He is the pillar of fire between the army of liberals and the chosen people. Lighting the way for Republicans if only they will open their eyes and see it. Damn glad he is on our side.
I would be interested to hear from his lips his position on the second amendment and illegal immigration.

116 112...I guess that's true among the seemingly suicidal purity cons....the guy that they would support just doesn't exist. Again, i'm not sure if a guy like Christie would be vulnerable to a squish accusation, unless he's on record overtly attacking gun rights.
Nah, the purity Republicans are a different set. They're the ones that want the guy to conform to their position 100%. I think those you could convince to vote. I'm thinking more like the "single issue" voters. Those that care about only one issue. If the candidate isn't on board with that issue then they're not gonna vote for him. I think Rudy would have suffered from single issue voters concerning abortion.

For the fellow who suggested that Christie should run for President in 2012.
Guess what--he's a governor of a "small state" and he's only had two years experience. (Same old Palin shit).
OTOH--the dude does stand up to the unions--whilst Obambi simply rolls over for Andy Stern types and says "Where do you want to stick it?"
I'll go with Christie.

Paul McCartney is an ass. I used to know someone who was a roadie setting up equipment for his Dallas concert about twenty years ago. He said that the entire crew was forced to eat from a vile vegetarian buffet at the concert site. No meat was allowed on the premises, as well as no leather shoes, belts, etc. This was all done in accordance with Sir Paul's silly demands.

I got an idiot preaching the "all media is conservative - they are all corporate owned" crap. What is your best rebuttal?
1. Get him to confirm and commit to the idea that the media is biased.
2. Show him this http://www.journalism.org/node/2304
3. tell him to suck your dick.
Step three is optional.
