From an article over at Drudge written by the French commie news Reuters:
U.S. says wind could power 20 percent of eastern grid
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Wind energy could generate 20 percent of the electricity needed by households and businesses in the eastern half of the United States by 2024, but it would require up to $90 billion in investment, according to a government report released on Wednesday.
For the 20 percent wind scenario to work, billions must be spent on installing wind towers on land and sea and about 22,000 miles of new high-tech power lines to carry the electricity to cities, according to the study from the Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
This is obvious planted BS from an Obama lackey. Note the “need” for a 90 billion dollar investment. If I am not mistaken there was much more than that in the porkulous bill dedicated to this crap already. It would be nice to have an accounted of where all this money is actually going because it is beginning to look like someone needs to go to jail.
Also, as I have said many many times. You simply can not have a significant portion of the grid being powered from wind turbines, even if you had the money and were willing to dedicate the land area needed for that much power. As Scotty used to say in another one of those oft’ quoted Star Trek lines; “I cannae change the laws of physics captain”.
The problem is that the output of a wind turbine constantly varies in power and frequency. If you have it synched to the grid and it is not a major portion of the grid the grid itself will act as a damper. If you have a significant portion of the grid the grid itself would start varying in frequency and voltage. This would cause major problems, including ultimately loss of the grid through instability.
But not to worry, the object here obviously is not to dedicate a bunch of money to wind turbines. Like all the Obama (and Democrap) green projects, this is there to increase government control of the economy, nationalize part of a significant industry, and raise taxes. In other words, it is there to advance communism.
Yes, the watermelon economy is hard at work.
BTW; they claim this would be 225,000 MW or 225,000,000 KW of generation. According to the calculator on Power Technologies Energy Handbook it requires .76 acres of land per 1,000 KW using a 500 KW generator. That is 171,000 acres (267 sq miles) of land not counting any kind of switchyard and power lines.

There are Zero sunspots today.
There have been over 600 earthquakes in Yellowstone since last Sunday.
Yellowstone, for those who are quite geologically challenged, is a super volcano, quite capable of rendering the whole of North America dead and uninhabitable. Just sayin'.

“Undercover ATF agents in Virginia have funneled more than 250 million cigarettes onto the nation’s streets in the past three years through black market sales targeting smugglers, an Associated Press review has found.”

I read about Specter's dis of Michele Bachmann. PJTV has part of Michele's interview talking about the incident. She mentioned that she will have a tough reelection campaign. Acorn will be out in force. Acorn already has a network in Minnesota after stealing the election for Frankin. She is a conservative that morons can support by contributing a few pennies from their funemployment checks. If you have an extra dime, I urge all moron and moronettes to support her. I just sent her a small donation.

FRIDAY!! Woooooooo!
Ya know, it would be embarrassing to admit that one week when you didn't celebrate the end of the work week, I went all day thinking it was Thursday, and then when faced with the reality of the Friday-ness, thought "why didn't Gabe say anything?"
So I'm not admitting to anything. And yes, yes I do need to get out more.

Didn't the last place he went to and talked about that turn around and lay off a shit pot of people. If he was coming to my factory I would be worried.

Heh! And the dippin' continues.
So, NBC says that there's a condition in Conan's severence package that he can't "badmouth" the network. From WSJ:
"'We wanted to give him a graceful exit. Hopefully, he will be graceful,' Jeff Gaspin chairman of NBC Universal Television Entertainment, said of Mr. Obrien, whose last show is Friday. Thursday night with the ink barely dry on his exit package, Mr. O'Brien didn't spare his ratings-challenged employer. 'Have to watch at least one NBC show every weekenight in order to double ratings, 'Mr. O'Brien said. People familiar with the matter said the nondisparagement provision kicks in when Mr. O'Brien leaves the network."

Obama's going to Ohio today to talk about job creation. His plan? Building bridges, making homes energy efficient and creation of green jobs. Happy days are here again!
Good friend o'mine is a home improvement contractor who is desperatlry struggling to suirvive. Now he has to pay the state of NJ $300+ to attend a lead remedation clinic, in which he will learn the appropraite methods for "wrapping" & "aerating" a home when changing windows. The apprpriate ventilation equipment & materials will add to his estimates & the fine for not meeting these new epa mandates will be severe...how's that for helping the "small guy?"

Jan. 22 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama proposal to impose limits on commercial banks may win him support on Main Street and shake up Wall Street without doing much to make the financial system safer overall.
The plan, which is still lacking in details and must be approved by Congress, aims to make the banks more secure by forcing them to minimize the trading they do on their own account and give up their stakes in hedge funds and private equity firms. “It’s the right direction,” said Henry Kaufman, president of Henry Kaufman & Co. in New York and a former vice chairman of Salomon Inc.
The danger is that such risky activities could simply migrate to big non-bank financial institutions, leaving the system as a whole no better off.
Notice how none of Barry's plans have any details?

$90 billion for 225,000 MW? They're claiming $400/kW construction costs INCLUDING new power line infrastructure?
Aside from the problems wind power generation creates for a power grid, that price tag seems pretty optimistic - I thought wind was more on the order of at least $1000/kW of capacity.
Back in 2008, before he gave up on the project, T Boone Pickens' project was going to cost $3000/kW and rising ... That figure included infrastructure. Seems like the Energy Department's figures may be off by a mere order of magnitude or so.

I want to add two more: Murtha and Moran.
Nothing would make me happier than to get rid of Crazy Violent Wife-beating racist carpet bagging corrupt asswipe Moran. The legislature has gerrymandered northern va so that the libtard-est precincts, 20 miles apart, make up his district--Alexandria, Arlington, and loony reston. These precincts went 65% for Obama. The Reston precincts were 95% white and 100% moonbat. The original idea was to keep the superlibtards to one seat. Moran, on top of giving HUGE earmarks to defense contractors who donate to his campaign, runs around bashing the military.
He held a fundraiser at Mt Vernon a few years ago and the director, a democrat, was appalled at the number of Islamists there. He gets his money from questionable sources. He stood up on 9/12/01 and reminded the house not to bash muslims---his immediate response while the Pentagon was still smoking.
I think the most we can hope for is his liver to give out.

I can't help but hear this kind of thing and think B+ may eventually cross the rubicon to the point where ... well, let's just say Secret Service will have to double down to keep him safe. There's a lot of money at stake in the game he wants to play. I'd imagine major Gordon Geko x/10 type people who aren't happy with his direction. Unless, of course, it's all a ruse and they're all in it together.

This is nice:
The nonbinding Copenhagen Accord was hastily cobbled together at President Barack Obama's insistence as the United Nations' Copenhagen climate change conference whimpered to its end in December. Under the Accord, countries are supposed to make their commitments to cut greenhouse gases official by January 31. It now appears that most countries will miss that deadline.

If this blog thingy don't work out for ACE:
Country's first legal gigolo starts work in Nevada Published: 1/22/10, 7:45 AM EDT
By OSKAR GARCIA
BEATTY, Nev. (AP) - A brothel in a Nevada desert town has hired the state's first male prostitute, a muscular college dropout who abandoned a brief stint as a porn actor in Los Angeles to become the only legal gigolo in the United States.
The Shady Lady Ranch successfully won state and county approval to clear the way for the "prostidude," as Nevada's newest sex worker is already being called. After a slow first week on the job, his first appointments are scheduled for this weekend.
The male prostitute - known as "Markus" - has quickly become the center of attention in Nevada's brothel industry.
He has been criticized by female counterparts for not being willing to have sex with men. And he created a dustup after telling Details Magazine that his pioneering role in the sex business was "just the same" as civil rights icon Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat and move to the back of the bus. Not surprisingly, he has been forbidden from doing interviews after the remarks.

And yet more fallout from the Brown election. From WSJ:
"The political winds that buffeted Massachussetts this week are now blowing across the cornfields of southeast Indiana--smack into Mr. Hill. (Baron Hill, 5 term Democratic congressman)...For the fifth time in a row, Mr. Hill is running against Republican Mike Sodrel, a self-made millionaire who beat Mr. Hill by 10,000 votes in 2004, but lost to him in tough races in 2002, 2006, and 2008...A poll conducted just before Tuesday's vote in Mass. by USA Survey for the Web site firedoglak.com found that in a head to head match-up, Mr. Sodrel would beat Mr. Hill 49% to 41% with 10% of voters undecided. The White House is aware of Mr. Hill's vulnerability. Mr. Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanel, recently traveled to Bloomington, the district's most liberal enclave, for a $100-a-plate fund raiser. Then the president publicly thanked Mr. Hill for showing political courage in supporting health-care legislation...The firedoglake poll put Mr. Obama's approval rating in the district at 38%, with a disapproval rating of 58%."
But no, the fact that Democratic encumbants are in trouble has nothing to do with Obama or his policies. I hope Obama continues to campaign for these losers, it will be the final nail in their coffins.

Then a couple months ago I read that the company has furloughed 500 people at the ONE active plant it had, and the never used plant they built is only one of 3 that was built and never made a single turbine blade.
My personal knowledge on all of these big stimulus type alt energy projects is that, in every case I have seen, they only last as long as the government money is coming in. As soon as the government money dries up, the project dries up.
That same thing is happening to all those geothermal projects in CA.
Government funded projects for alternative energy produce fraud, not energy.

Oh, Headline in paper: "Union Households Gave Boost To GOP'S Brown".
"A poll conducted on behalf of the AFL-CIO found that 49% of Mass. union households supported Mr. Brown in Tuesday's voting, while 46% supported Democrat martha Coakley. The poll conducted by Hart Research Assoc. surveyed 810 voters. Karen Ackerman, the AFL-CIO's political action director said the results of the Mass. poll indicate 'what we call a working-class revolt...Clearly, we're taking a serious look at this because, frankly, we know that 2010 elections are going to be difficult,' she said adding that the group plans to move forward with a 'very progressive political program.'"
They go on to say that the union pollster said that it was more about each individual candidate than Obama and Democratic party policies. I love how willfully blind these asshats are. Oh well, I say bring it.

Jan. 22 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. investors overwhelmingly see President Barack Obama as anti-business and question his ability to manage a financial crisis, according to a Bloomberg survey.
The global quarterly poll of investors and analysts who are Bloomberg subscribers finds that 77 percent of U.S. respondents believe Obama is too anti-business and four-out-of-five are only somewhat confident or not confident of his ability to handle a financial emergency.

Jan 16 (NYT) Bernanke and the Beast
...
For one, it [The Fed] can sell the large portfolio of mortgage-backed securities and other assets it has accumulated over the last couple of years.
...
This strikes me as wishful thinking in the first place and ignoring the original big hairy problem.
So who, exactly, is going to buy these MBSs? I guess The Fed's gonna continue their little game of economic incest and somehow magically sell them back to the Treasury or some shit. It's like they're playing tennis with a nuclear tennis ball. What's the state of the mortgages? Aren't these things still toxic?
This is first rate NYT spin right here, not their usual amateur stuff of the last few years but true, pro spin like the days of old. "Democrats are in charge, everything's not so bad. We'll be just fine if they make the right calls."

Yes, you can have fun watching the State of the Union address on the 27th! First get lots the alcohol of choice and some shot glasses.
Despite the pain required in doing so you will need to actually watch the address. Take a shot every time he says 'I' or 'my'.
It's recommended you have vomit bags and large quantities of advil handy for the inevitable results. On the bright side you'll be so loaded that no matter what he says will probably end up being funny in that sad pathetic way he has.
Points to anyone that can come up with a voodoo ritual or something like that that will cause the teleprompter to fail. (Or good old fashioned malicious hacking!)
