4 I don't know why Obama keeps getting away with blaming Bush for his failures. After all, Obama ran on a promise to come in and fix all of those problems. He promised to do it quickly. So the lack of success is his problem and our side needs to say so.

5 Is that, "Aargh" like a groan of desperation, or is it like "Aargh, where's me cutlass ye wench?" Because if we're playing pirate today, I am TOTALLY in. Thanks in advance for the clarification.

6 That Star Wars headline is still pissin' me off. I especially like how Lucas says he had been thinking of doing SW in 3-D long before Avatar came out, riiiight......what a tool. But hey, maybe shoving all the stupid crap you can on screen and putting it in 3-D will actually make the prequels better, couldn't make 'em any worse.

11 We need more special elections. Whipping liberal asses on Tuesday really perks up the week.Isn't it about time Obama replaced all the crooks and idiots he appointed last year? Democratic Senators not up for reelection this year would be perfect i think.

12 Ok, somebody please esplain this to me.

I've been comin' to Ace o' Spades for a couple of years now, but I never understood why Gabe puts up a daily post entitled 'Top Headline Comments'.  I don't get it--there is no content.  What's the reason and what is it for?

16 Oh geez.... Ok, I think I just figured this out.  It's a place for morons to comment on the 'Top Headlines' over on the right, without clogging up the other threads, right?

Ok, I get it.

Damn.  I feel dumber than an Obama supporter.

Sorry.

Posted by: Mikey at January 25, 2010 05:30 AM (TJoID)

17 So you can comment on the stuff posted in the sidebar. Keeps people from going off topic in the regular threads. Plus it allows you to get your daily insult of gabe out right away. .

Someone had the brilliant idea that there would be one thread to discuss the Top Headlines => all day long, instead of interrupting each and every other post to discuss them.

Like most things 'round here, it devolved and is now sort of an open morning thread. But sometimes a few morons are capable of talking about the headlines or even posting links to other stuff.

In other news..

TNT has greenlit 10 episodes of Steven Spielberg's untitled alien-invasion
series  featuring the heavily armored ER doctor, Noah Wyle. Apparently it takes a lot of ammo to kill these space bastards.

TNT is mighty excited about its new Spielberg alien show, judging from the
ten-episode order. Which is a lot, seeing as how most new shows flap in and
out of miniseries and TV-movies before developing an audience. But then
again, it's Steven fuckking Spielberg.

Plus Robert Rodat, of Saving Private Ryan fame, penned the pilot from an
original idea. Which was inspired by Spielberg's previous alien TV venture
Taken. Beside Noah, Terminator Salvation's Moon Bloodgood will star.

The series begins after a massive alien invasion has ravaged the Earth. The
show will focus on a small group of survivors/rebels.

Good God, if it isn't vampires, it's alien invasions. Not even having Spielberg's name attached to this will make it any more interesting ("Taken" was rubbish). You need to throw a lot of money at stuff like this or else it just becomes another stretched out drama about people talking all the time.

Oh, but see, having TOTUS there is no big deal, because it wasn't for when he was talking to the kids.

You see, the Q and A with the kids was behind closed doors and TOTUS was for when he was talking with reporters or something.

Hmmm, that doesn't actually make it better. I need new talking points here!!

Posted by: Spinning Mama AJ at January 25, 2010 05:41 AM (Be4xl)

36 There's a difference between Star Wars and Avatar.  Avatar's CGI is wayyyyyy better.

There, I said it.

Poor CGI would look like absolute shit in 3D, which means Lucas would have to redo all of the CGI.  That might actually help the movies, but it won't help as long as shitty Anakin keeps going on about sand in his crack.

Oh, and good morning, morons.  Happy Monday.

41 I found a little something on the now-infamous Queen of Kool-Aid, Ellie Light. Excerpt, followed by a link:

"I am not surprised that an article that tends to discredit a pro-Obama letter-writer has lots of readers. I understand that there are 10 million dittoheads that daily scour the airwaves, print and online press for something nasty to say about the president, so I'm sure your article will get more hits," she wrote in another e-mail later Sunday. "I'm not sure why you would write me that people would probably be interested in what I have to say. My impression is that my letter could contain Chinese food recipes with a Pro-Obama subject line, and the event would be interpreted as fodder for that same highly-motivated, but narrow class of people."

Obama believes everything communist and socialist but does not know how to fit these ideologies into words himself that are politically astute. That is why he has teleprompters showing scripts written by experts. Like an actor, all he has to do is deliver them with superb acting. People today are so mesmerized with entertainment, re: acting, that they ascribe kudos to whomever provides the best acting ability regardless if it is fiction or not! Obama should have been an actor! I sometimes think bombing Hollywood out of existence would be a good thing for this country.

56 Went to a Beatles music tribute concert in West Michigan on Saturday night, sold out 2500 people.

The leader of the group made some joke about landing a gig as the house band for the upcoming Palin / Brown presidential campaign.

He prefaced the wisecrack by asking “ You’re all familiar with the new senator from Massachusetts, Scott Brown”?

At that point a loud cheer erupted all through the crowd.

The following line “We have yet to be contacted by the Granholm / Stabbenow campaign” was met with derisive snickers.

Though I really am tired of hearing about Katrina.

Shocking, yes- the LA Slimes article is basically a hit-piece on Palin.

I'd suggest the next time they get flooded (and they will), stay home and save yourself the aggravation.

It'll depend on whether they ask for help or demand it. My guess: the latter.

ESADMF

There has been enough money poured into that corrupt shithole of a city to buy every square inch of it.

If I had been in charge that is exactly what would have happened. All the money that went there would have been to buy it up at 'flood-sale" prices and make everyone move.

Then I would have dynamited the dikes and all the buildings that were still standing and turned it into what it was originally. A flood plain.

Saw a great bumper sticker this morning in The People's Republic of Illinois, Chicago Sector.  It was done in The Won's signature color of blue on a white background:

WORST

President Ever

And the O had that obnoxious "O" logo with the red stripes in it.  Tuesday's win in MA has ponds rippling all across the country!

Whoever first planted the French flag there had to wait for floodwaters to recede before they could land and make it official. True story.

War of the Worlds, in the book, a crazy person describes the battle to come, with the terms of victory possible.  The passive victory of humans was a big letdown after that.  I think for the movie, the stand in for that crazy person was Tim Robbins doing his best imitation of a 'conservative'.  Apparently everyone on earth turns into an ass five minutes after aliens arrive.

Best keep Spielberg off of Ender's Game.  Leave it to a director that's decidedly pro-human.

Problem with Spielberg is he cheats. How many of you saw "Jaws" when it first came out and thought that Richard Dryfess had been killed by the shark? And then he shows up at the end.

Same with "War of the Worlds". In one scene, all the humans, including Tom Cruises son, who have gone up over a hill and get zapped by the Martians. But guess who shows up miraculously at the end of the movie?

I've given up on Spielberg.

Truth be told; Obama was taping a message of thanks to the 6th Graders for winning the "World Communist Suck Up to the Prez Award" which they were forced to make, praising the "Beneficent and Glorified Barrack Hussein Obama" for his "Transformation of America to Marxism" in only one year of his Presidency.

The kids of course were with Danny Glover in the "Peoples Gymnasium" at the time, practicing up for their next command performance in Caracas, Venezuela for Presidenté Hugo Chavez.

If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.

$5.4B NY Housing Complex Returned to Creditors

This story has been brewing for a while and it looks like it is now coalescing. Could this be the opening round in the commercial real estate quagmire that has been predicted.

How about it some of you Morons from the city. Is there something out of the ordinary on this failure or is is symptomatic of all commercial real estate?

Posted by: Vic at January 25, 2010 09:40 AM (QrA9E)

Not from NYC, but I have been reading about this cluster foxtrot for a while now. basically, someone got all coked up and sold a plan to another bunch of cokeheads and greedheads, whereby a bunch of borderline slums would be bought up and gentrified. The problem was, NYC has a ton of regulations the aforementioned cokeheads and greedheads didn't do due diligence on.

Long story short, they tried to raise rents and go co-op, etc,. and a judge ordered them to roll back their rents, causing a huge money bleed. Faced with bankruptcy, the purchasers pulled a fast one and dumped the properties into the laps of the fools who financed this mess.

And, to answer your question, yes, this isn't a perfect summary of every commercial property problem in America, but it's a good candidate for poster boy.

Any one see this?

Despite President Obama's long history of criticizing the Bush administration for "sweetheart deals" with favored contractors, the Obama administration this month awarded a $25 million federal contract for work in Afghanistan to a company owned by a Democratic campaign contributor without entertaining competitive bids, Fox News has learned.

The contract, awarded on Jan. 4 to Checchi & Company Consulting, Inc., a Washington-based firm owned by economist and Democratic donor Vincent V. Checchi, will pay the firm $24,673,427 to provide "rule of law stabilization services" in war-torn Afghanistan.

I thought no-bid contracts were teh evilll or something?

It pisses me off the way the US has acted in the Honduran constitutional crisis.  How can we so blatantly disregard the rule of law (it wasn't a coup) and side openly with leftists that have no regard for a nation's constitution.

I think Obama lives in a dream world where he gets elected President for Life (every teleprompters fantasy). Zelaya was paving the way for how it would unfold in 2015.
