13 there has been some talk by the administration of moving the trial of the 9/11 terrorists from new york city. i have a suggestion: move it to washington d.c. 9/11 was not an attack on nyc, it was an attack on the america. the nearby pentagon was hit, too, with another airliner on it's way to washington. the administration wants to use the trial as a demonstration to the world of american jurisprudence. what better way than to have the trial under the daily watchful eye of obama, holder, aclu legal scholars and the democrats in congress. this should prove to be an admirable 6-12 months of shining rectitude for this righteous administration. perhaps ace and others of the bloggish ilk could make a real lobbying effort along these lines. twould be illuminating.

CAIRO (AP) - Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming, according to a new audiotape released Friday.

He blamed Western industrialized nations for hunger, desertification and floods across the globe, and called for "drastic solutions" to global warming, and "not solutions that partially reduce the effect of climate change."

42 When are we going to have a goddamn DOUBLE FLAMING SKULL over the fact that our Harvard Law Review Editor-in-Chief Constitutional Professor-Scholar President gave a State of the Union speech in which he (1) confused the Constitution and Declaration of Independence (the latter says "all men are created equal, not the latter) (2) said the Constitutions provides "if you abide by the law you should be protected by it" (no -- even criminals, especially criminals, have legal rights), and then had the audacity to (3) Lecture the Supreme Court (incorrectly) about what the Constitution says. See here: http://tinyurl.com/ygoptw2 This guy has trillions of dollars to pay speech writers and editors, and doesn't care enough about the SOTU -- an historic event -- to get the simplest facts about this country right?

The thrill of Scott Brown’s incredible victory in Massachusetts isn’t fading – it’s growing, as the wake continues to rock boats throughout the political world. In the midst of that joy, it’s important to note something equally wonderful – how beautifully Scott is rising to the occasion.

Looking beyond the barn jacket, beyond the pickup truck, beyond the all-American good looks, somebodyÂ’s got to say this about Scott Brown: HeÂ’s had a terrific run so far as a senator-elect.

Brian McGrory, in his column in todayÂ’s Boston Globe, shines a light on ScottÂ’s poise and savvy..

-His decision to make Tom Menino the first stop on his first day of the first week on the job was uncommonly shrewd. With Menino, politics isnÂ’t partisan, but personal, and this show of respect will be remembered for a while. Brown got slaughtered in Boston, making his post-election foray into the city that much more notable.

Scott got a front page Globe photo a few days ago for his meeting with urban clergy..

   - “A guy-guy,Â’Â’ is how the Rev. Gene Rivers described Brown after the meeting. He said Brown met with them for about 90 minutes, had a bit of “swagÂ’Â’ to him from his days playing basketball at Tufts with mostly black teammates, and smartly pushed back in a way that made them respect him even more.
Said Rivers: “As an outsider, he understands the strategic importance of black clergy and he’s not as prone to take us for granted.’’

In addition to the McGrory column, Scott has a front page Globe story today – with a big photo – a real puff piece like those usually reserved for Democrats.
In his trademark aw-shucks, self-effacing style, he reflected on becoming a political sensation..

-“I try to just be myself,Â’Â’ he said. “Like today, I got up, I rode the bike for an hour, watched TV, read the newspapers, you know, and then spent a little time with the dogs, got them all settled up, gave [my wife] Gail a kiss and went to the gym, did a swim, and then I came in here. IÂ’ve been meeting with you guys, IÂ’m going to caucus. The only different thing is, IÂ’m doing [Jay] Leno.Â’Â’

Most gratifying of all are remarks Joe Kennedy, the former Congressman who opted out of running for the seat his uncle held for the past 47 years. Joe is apparently feeling the Scott Envy that so many politicians, mere mortals that they are, are confronting as the spotlight shines exclusively on Senator Brown.

-Standing in the parking lot of a two-story red brick apartment complex on Shepard Street in Brighton, where he had been delivering oil to needy residents, Kennedy smiled when a reporter asked him whether he regretted not running. “The thought had crossed my mind,Â’Â’ he said.

No need to feel badly, Joe. ItÂ’s not a year for Kennedys.

Today he is driving his [black] truck around the state thanking the voters for his win.

64 Vic--sounds reasonable to me.  Wisconsin's getting over $800M to build one between the People's Republic of Madison and Milwaukee (represented by a hack member of the Black Congressional Caucus). Total waste of money--it's a 90-minute drive from the NE suburb where I live to downtown Madison, and there's more than one bus line running between the two cities.  Spent less than a tenth of it to widen I-94 (and hire a business that won't do a shitty job with the intention of getting hired for repaving every year), throw in a tax incentive for increased bus service, voila!  Everyone's happy except the UW profs who vacationed in Europe last year and feel bad that the U.S. is so "unsophisticated."  And they can afford to drive to Milwaukee, should they ever deign to go there.

UW profs who vacationed in Europe last year and feel bad that the U.S. is so "unsophisticated."

Why is it that all things involving European socialism are "good" but when the Eurpeans do something like support nuclear power it is lost in the shuffle.

We need another round of "trains" like we need a hole in the head. The FDR/Commie admiinistration basically ruined the rail system in the 30s and 40s by turning it over to the unions. In fact, they were the forerunner of showing what union control could do.

The superhighway system in the 50s put the tombstone on the grave of passenger trains. Government subsidies are the only reason they are still operating. We are basically subsidizing the train unions.

Instead of building another big boondogle what we should be doing is elliminating all federal labor regualtions and subsidies for the railroads. Freight would be profitable and all passenger service except the NY/Washington corridor would cease.

Bring it Barry!  From Michelle Malkin:

The White House has confirmed that President Barack Obama will visit Colorado in February to attend an event with U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet.

White House spokesman Adam Abrams said Thursday that the details are still being worked out.

Craig Hughes, BennetÂ’s campaign manager, says Obama will be in Colorado to campaign for the senator, who is running for election. A date hasnÂ’t been set.

The latest Rasmussen poll shows Bennett getting blown away by his GOP rivals.

He said he would fall on his sword for Obamacare in November.

Then, he had second thoughts after the Massachusetts miracle.

No worries. Seems like voters have made up their minds — and if the Obama kiss of death holds, Sen. Bennet will soon be relieved of duty.
