'Morning, fellow morons. Another day, another snow storm here in the heartland. The snow hasn't melted since Christmas. It just keeps piling up. And as I watch, the wind keeps whipping it up and blowing it so it looks like smoke.
Thank God I didn't go to work last night. I switched days, but when I do go to work the low should be around -11.
Fun times indeed.

The latest outrage from Washington?
Just in from Fox this morning; the government is paying for cell phones for welfare people. If you qualify for food stamps or other forms of welfare you can get a free cell phone and free minutes for jabbering. Some “safety net” huh; cell phones are now a necessity?
All paid for by the same people who put gas in your tank and pay for your mortgage.
And here we thought welfare had been obliterated way back in the 80s.

President ObamaÂ’s top budget official acknowledged Wednesday fathering a child out of wedlock, less than two weeks after announcing his engagement to another woman.
Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and the mother of the child, Claire Milonas, released a statement announcing the birth of their daughter soon after the New York Post reported the news on its Web site.
“We were in a committed relationship until the spring of 2009,” Orszag and Milonas said in a joint statement. “In November, Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Although we are no longer together, we are both thrilled she is happy and healthy, and we would hope that everyone will respect her privacy.”

Now, generations are passing down the secrets to welfare success, how to live off the gov't teet, so that their children and children's children will not know anything else. Nope, it was a brief blurb on F&F this morning. And NO it is not needed for emergencies. They already have passed a different welfare regulation that provided "FREE" 911 coverage for everyone through a different fee on your hardline telephone. This is a separate fee on your cell phone bill usually averaging about $3.00 per month.
It is simply another damn piece of socialist shit.

The "free" cell phone service for welfare recipients is not funded with taxpayer money. It is payed for by telecom companies. It was actually started by Reagan in 1984.
Look up SafeLink Wireless, they have all the facts. (I looked on Bing, I assume it works on Google)
No, it is paid for by a damn fee on your cell phone bill. Yes, in 1984 the FCC (not Reagan) established a program to help low income people with their phone bills. (lifeline program). Now, thanks to Democraps in congress it has morphed into fee damn cell phones supported by fees on people who actually pay for cell phones.
Fees, otherwise known as taxes. I see NOTHING in my copy of the Consitution that authorizes the government to provide "free cell phones" to deadbeats using my money.

"Transparent."
Maybe President Obama is breaking the word into components — trans and parent — to convey what he really means, like he's going to cross over our lives like a parent, superceding our mothers and fathers.
He's not being transparent; he's being a trans-parent. In this light, he's being totally honest when he says this will be the most trans-parent administration in history.

And I doubt that any conference to this day (and I know it didn't happen before) pulled off having 3 teams end up 1, 2, 3 in the country like the Big 8 did in, I believe, 1969 with NU, OU, and CU. No conference had ever ended up with 1 and 2, let alone 1, 2, 3.

Do I think it is Socialism to force paying customers to provide service to the indigent? No
The free market does not require the people who can afford service to use one provider rather than another. It does provide an opportunity for any service provider to offer free service to some at the cost of others. No one is forcing anyone to pay for a cell phone, but it is unlikely there are any providers that do not force paying customers to pay a little extra for free service to some.
Is every person forced to pay for the free phones? No, only those who pay for phone service. (I don't know of any provider who doesn't have a fee for this)
My point is that by choosing to pay for your own service, you are likely paying for the free ones as well. You could always not get a phone yourself, in which case you won't be paying for the free ones.
And no, I'm not arguing the issue either way, I'm just pointing out that the choice to have your own cell phone is still a free choice.
Unlike many other programs, and health care will be, should it pass.

Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, then led by Timothy Geithner, told American International Group Inc. to withhold details from the public about the bailed-out insurerÂ’s payments to banks during the depths of the financial crisis, e-mails between the company and its regulator show.
AIG said in a draft of a regulatory filing that the insurer
paid banks, which included Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Societe
Generale SA, 100 cents on the dollar for credit-default swaps
they bought from the firm. The New York Fed crossed out the
reference, according to the e-mails, and AIG excluded the
language when the filing was made public on Dec. 24, 2008. The
e-mails were obtained by Representative Darrell Issa, ranking
member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Ha! Just as we suspected, it's George Boooosh-Hitler's fault! Our new young Precedent was the victim of the Evil Booosh/Cheney Cabal. In Leiter's defense, he has been working with this administration for a year. He has seen firsthand how Obama doesn't take national security seriously, and incidencts like the Panty Bomber are more of a nuisance/lawfare issue. So he probably didn't realize that his presence or expertise was expected or needed.

WTF? People are way over confident about Blumenthal's candidacy.
I think his middle name might be Copenhagen.

Hmm, it makes me think that Obama might have "helped" Dodd make the decision to retire.

"Crist told me that two of the senators he most admires are John McCain and Lindsey Graham, who have reputations for forging bipartisan alliances — and who have drawn their share of hellfire from conservative purists."
See, this is why you are a loser, Crist.

Ok, thanks peoples. My gloves actually are Northface and water proof, but the cold still seeps in, as they did this am. But I think runningrn is onto something. Fleece lined gloves. Mine aren't. That may make the whole difference.
Oh, and Eric. I was just joshing. Yes I've seen that pic here. But thanks for re-posting it.

Perhaps we should create a 200% surtax on incomes of people who graduated from Purdue or who will graduate from Purdue.
After all, the volunteered to go to Purdue.

I guess this is the same type of commitment that Obama has to the war in Afghanistan, committed as long as it's convenient.

They could have someone interviewing the 'pubs (and non-lefty advocacy groups!) about *their* health care plans in front of the locked door. Every so often the interviewer could say something like, "thanks for your input, Representative. I wonder what's going on inside the room behind us, where the Democrats have been working behind a locked door for (checks watch) four hours and eighteen minutes? Why so secretive?"

Funny (foreign) product names. [Via linkiest, formerly Conservative Grapevine.] BTW, anyone else hungry? Because I could really go for some Megapussi right now.

It's being reported that Obama's requested report as to what allowed the "Underware Bomber" onto a Detroit bound fight will "shock" us...lets guess before it come out as to what that surprise is going to be.
My guess is there is something in the report that will put this all at Bush's feet. Perhaps enough in their opinion, to start up criminal charges on Rove or Chaney or even Bush himself. They sure are not going to put it at this administrations feet.
