Soros Calls For More U.S. Stimulus Spending
There
is a real danger that U.S. President Barack Obama's goal of trying to
cut in half the country's large budget deficit by 2013 could wreck the
U.S. recovery and more stimulus spending is needed to breathe life into
domestic demand, renowned investor George Soros has said.
In
a speech delivered at Columbia University on Tuesday, Soros said the
Obama administration was caving in to pressure from Republicans to cut
back on stimulus spending and target fiscal consolidation.
"I believe there is a strong case for further stimulus," Soros said. "To cut back on government spending at a time of large-scale unemployment would ignore all the lessons learned from the Great Depression."

This is where I usually part ways with my liberal friends: When they talk about government spending as a catalyst for growth, and I ask them to explain toe difference between government and private sector spending (other than the efficiency). They sputter and hem and haw, because what they really want to say is that government is smarter and knows where to spend. But they also know that I would have to kill them to remove their genes from the pool.

Why didnÂ’t we think of that!

Gaffe machine Joe Biden says he wants to strangle Republicans over budget
Notorious Democrat gaffe machine Joe Biden (and also current vice president) says he wants to strangle Republicans who have the nerve to tell him about balancing the federal budget. Biden was blurting out at a Democrat fundraising event in Dayton, Minnesota, late yesterday when he "let slip" a desire that many would see as being beneath the office of the vice president. Biden is notorious for unloading such gaffes, and he is certainly more known—in a very disreputable light—for what he lets slip out of his mouth than for anything that he’s actually accomplished as vice president in almost two years. Biden tried to excuse his possible Freudian slip by claiming it was only a joke (good one, sir!), yet he clearly added this somewhat unbelievable explanation only after he noticed the inconvenient presence of all the media outlets that were covering the event.

On the "unexpected" job cuts. Here are some quotes from the Bloomberg story
“It’s more evidence of a lousy labor market,” said Joshua Shapiro, chief U.S. economist at Maria Fiornini Ramirez Inc. in New York. “Here we are, 18 months into a recovery and we’re not doing much on the job front. Until we digest the excesses built up over decades, you’re not going to see sustained gains in jobs or the overall economy.”
“This is a disappointing result,” Joel Prakken, chairman of St. Louis-based Macroeconomic Advisers LLC, which produces the figures with ADP, said of today’s figures on a conference call with reporters. “It’s going to be a while before employment really perks up.”
We're in a wonderful recovery comrades. There is no real evidence for it and all signs say we're still in a recession but it's a recovery no matter what

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is greeting foreign diplomats at a White House reception, hailing a "new era of engagement in the world."
Barry is right this is new. No other president has gone around apologizing for America and bowed to foreign leaders
Appearing with first lady Michelle Obama, the president told his guests that in a world that's more interconnected than ever, it's in America's best interest for all countries to prosper.
More one world socialist bullshit. In Barry's tiny mind it's in America's best interests for every country but America to prosper

Obama use of foe's tax records reviewed
Speeches assailed Koch Industries
A federal inspector general is looking into whether the Obama administration used confidential taxpayer information in an effort to attack a political opponent, Koch Industries.
The review was revealed Tuesday by Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, two weeks after he and a handful of other top Senate Republicans called for the Treasury Department's inspector general for tax issues to look into the matter, saying either administration officials had illegal access to taxpayer information or were inappropriately speculating in public about the company's tax status.
Charles and David Koch, brothers who control the Kansas-based company, are libertarians who have used some of their wealth to fund conservative groups and causes that oppose much of President Obama's agenda. Mr. Obama has singled out the company for criticism in speeches.
In an Aug. 27 briefing with some reporters on calls to restructure the corporate tax code, an unidentified administration official cited Koch Industries, a major privately held energy company, by name, and then seemed to indicate that the company didn't pay any corporate income tax, according to the Wall Street Journal.
"In this country, we have partnerships, we have
The Weekly Standard, which first questioned whether the comments crossed a legal line, has reported that the unidentified administration official "appears to have been" Austan Goolsbee, named last month as chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

Deficit reduction, shrinking government, repealing "health reform" and a few others.
Let's get that done first and then worry about sending these pricks to jail.

WASHINGTON – Desperate for jobs and cool toward President Barack Obama, working-class whites are flocking to Republicans, turning a group long wary of Democrats into an even bigger impediment to the party's drive to keep control of Congress.
Compared with better-educated whites, working-class whites tend to be older and more conservative — groups that traditionally lean Republican and are uneasy with the young president's activist governing.

the system isn't changing any time soon.
Also the Republicans can use it as leverage.
Obama, let the tax cuts expire or else we might look into this issue or that issue.
That's how this works. The Republicans aren't going to win in november, write bills that curb spending and have Obama sign them. He is going to veto everything, unless the republicans can give him a reason not to. The threat of investigations might be that reason. Leverage is a good thing.

I'm of the "do both" mindset. As some have pointed out, Zero is gonna vetro anything the Pubs give him that make any sense to a rational person. The key is to put the pressure on him, not let him paint the Pubs as obstructionists.
. In the meantime, there are plenty of offenses committed by Zero and his cronies that warrant immediate attention, the racist DOJ policies scandal being just one, off the top of my head.
When the Dems took over, they were threatening Bush with investigations. Deep down, they knew they had nothing, or at least would have exposed themselves if they had gone ahead. This is why I continually say that the Republican House must write budget bills for individual departments. You know, the way it used to be before LBJ and the way the founders intended it.
Write a budget that zeros out EPA. If he vetoes it so what? Let him get nothing.
You can do that at the same time you investigate legitimate crooks. That is the key to "investigations". They must investigate legitimate wrongdoing like the mess at the DOJ.

We can't be seen as vindictive.
I have to disagree with the implication that investigations would be seen as vindictive. Vindictiveness would apply if the electorate was uninformed and apathetic about misuse and abuse of power at the federal level. The Lewinsky debacle during Clinton's tenure could be and indeed was seen as vindictive party politics. Personally I think all the trashing he got was duly deserved, but not every one of my politically-likeminded fellows feel the same, then or now. "It was just SEX," is the argument I hear most often. "It's not like he was committing TREASON or something. It should have stayed a private matter between him and the ice bit- I mean, Hillary."
The abuse of power demonstrated by the Obama administration, however, is far more chilling, because the effects aren't internal or personal to the president himself. The blatant misuse of power demonstrated by this administration has far-reaching effects for all Americans, all the way down to the individual level.
*The Department of Justice. 'Nuff said.
* The emerging story about Obama's administration potentially using private tax records to defame the Koch brothers
* The unconstitutional thuggery of the "shakedown" of BP to establish the $20 billion relief fund for those affected by the Gulf Oil Spill
And these are just what I see as the tip of the corruption iceberg. I want the next congress to launch investigations. If they don't, they're going to make me just as angry as the bastards I want them investigating. And I'm sure I'm not alone, not only here in Moron Nation but throughout the country.

It's odd, but I see an endorsement from Mitt on his web page (and now there will be a new one from Huck) but I don't see Palin listed. Maybe she did but he just doesn't display it prominently. It is Maryland, after all.

How to Cope With Sarah Palin, Homecoming Queen LINK
Excerpt:
Rumors of cruelty never marred the queen's reputation. Small snubs in the hallway, the haughty sense of superiority, her minions ate it up. The fact that she was unremarkable in every measurable way -- neither smarter, nor kinder, nor more accomplished than the rest of us -- never troubled her followers. She was an object to idolize, unadulterated by reality.
Palin, of course, is far more sinister. She's managed to influence elections and undermine notions of female power -- forget the glass ceiling, let's stay home and shoot grizzlies! -- with alarming speed.

David Hartley was shot and killed on Falcon Lake, a reservoir between Texas and Mexico on the Rio Grande. Reports from Mexico vary between the media claim that no one heard any shots fired from the lake's direction, and then from the Mexican local police that area is a conflict zone between competing drug cartels and ranchers. Rick Perry issued what's publicized as an ultimatum for Calderon to call him within 48 hours with a report on Hartley's missing body. Why didn't Perry arrange for a joint force underwater investigation to find the body?
And what is stopping Rick Perry from organizing the Texas Sovereign State Guard as his official responsibilities require these days? Even CALIFORNIA has sole authority for use that's limited within the state alone with the California State Military Reserve.
Writing a letter to Obama is the extent of Perry's public and official indignation, with Obama either not ever reading it or refusing to respond to boot. Gov.Perry has expressed no public outrage with the Hassan massacre shooting troops and civilian police at Ft. Hood in Killeen, TX . The Politically Correct Army response to the incident is his, as well. Forget about it.

Kilgore:
>>Obviously we can, but vindictive (appearing) investigations will send the strong signal that it's just business as usual.<<
Not if you put them on C-Span and air the laundry in public. Not covering for their bad acts would actually be quite refreshing.
>>ideally Congress will rise above politics and actually do
something about the huge problems we face. Deficit reduction, shrinking
government, repealing "health reform" and a few others.
Nah. Let's do both at the same time. I feel vindictive after having healthcare and multi-trillion dollar deficits shoved down my throat "for my own good".
