The purge of the Damned Do-Gooders is long overdue.  This kind of pointless nanny-statism makes me sick.  We need to repeal at least 90% of the law enacted in the last 20 years that were passed in the name of saving us from ourselves.  This hand holding is a major part of what has transformed the US from a free country to an increasingly authoritarian state.  It's getting to the point that folks in banana republics are more free than US citizens.  When I visited the DR a while back you could drive around with a beer in one hand and a phone to year ear, and raise your bottle to the cops as you casually drove by them.  Nobody bothered you about your failure to wear a seat belt (if you were dumb enough to not wear one).  It was great.

That's just income tax you're talking about when you say that though...you're counting out sales tax, fuel tax, excise taxes on tobacco/alcohol, etc.  Fuel tax alone is probably more than income tax (at least it is here in Canada, I think). 

It's not a realistic statement when you say a smaller percentage pays all the taxes and it gets said a lot on this blog.  Just sayin...

As a court reporter, I can't tell you the number of proceedings I've taken where full-on stupid was in effect with docs and money.  They have zero bidness sense, zero investment sense, zero inkling of contracts, zero knowledge of economics.  Most of the testimony I took involved docs losing it all and suing over it.  Had an oral surgeon who was s'posed to be the best in his field but teh stupid was strong in his business and personal life.  The bimbo he got involved with was one for the books.  She wore a low-cut blouse and squeezed her arms together throughout the whole proceeding to draw attention to the "make-believe" cleavage.

For more decadence you could do vodka-soaked cherry tomatoes.

Either stick the tomatoes several times with a toothpick or blanch the tomatoes in boiling water and peel.

Toss 'em in a shallow bowl and toss in some vodka, either plain or a flavored vodka to your liking. Pepper vodka is really popular.

Cover and put 'em in the fridge for a few hours, stirring every so often.
