That is another that can be laid at the feet of the EPA. Specifically the asshole nominated by Nixon to be the first head. Yes the biggest mass murderer in history, Donald Rucleshouse who trash-canned the original EPA investigation and report and banned DDT via executive fiat.

That single action based on personal feeling overriding his own scientists not only caused the deaths of millions worldwide, but set the stage for the EPA down through history.

It let everyone in the EPA know in no uncertain terms that science was not the basis for EPA rulings. Feelings and religious fervor were the calls from then on.

And note that for religion I am not talking about "biblical" religion.

Go minimalist according to the Constitution's limits.

A prime example, the USA will be stronger for having eliminated the Dept. of Education. All taxing would be cut, no longer funding a top heavy administrative public educational system, no longer funding socialist propaganda programs enforced as if "curriculum". No more federal mandates. All taxes would be collected AND MAINTAINED LOCALLY, augmenting rather than cutting local funding for local schools under local jurisdiction. America managed public education of English, math and sciences prior to the monstrosity that Congress under a Potus leadership concocted as if to improve anything other than how much power the federal government has over our children, families, society, professions and convoluted PC climate at work.

Eliminate the EPA. That does not translate into eliminating laws against pollution. But the EPA is not the agency it was initially designated to be, proving what is inevitable when the federal government births a federal program to cure anything.

The DHS is another monstrosity sold under the guise of good intentions, reeking havoc on travelers' bodies, refusing to profile for terrorists. And that doesn't even touch the unspeakable.

Eliminate the FCC, another agency mushroomed into authoritarianism rather than equality under the law, attempting to halt free speech, working fastidiously to monopolize the media propaganda.

Eliminate the legal means Congress uses to squander tax funds for members' personal profit. Make earmarks an offense that immediately dismisses from office every authorizing Congressional/Executive government official that benefits. Limit every bill to one subject. Require reading of bills prior to voting, passing an exam of the bill prior to vote.

Minimize the tax code and the authority of the IRS.  The IRS has burgeoned into Big Brother leaving taxpaying citizens in prison with property seized by the federal government if citizens don't buy ObamaCare, regardless of one's income or lack of income required to purchase the government mandate.

What I remember from that era was that the environmental crap didn't start cropping up until after the Vietnam war was over and that didn't leave the communists an outlet to attack us on. So their funding was shifted from the anti-war movement to the enviro-loons.

During the '08 Campaign, the Democrats (as usual) staged the voters' agenda, and of course the GOP played into Democrats' hands.

The point never addressed by the Demagogue Newspeak Committee (DNC) remains AFFORDABLE!

The traditional truth has become a radical concept.

Eliminate obligated medical care to people refusing to pay for services. Tax funds should particularly not cover illegal aliens refusing to pay. Arrangements are always able to be made between low income patients and hospitals/doctors, $30./month each bill.

Eliminate what has become the Insurance Industry that of itself provides NOTHING OTHER THAN UNNECESSARY WASTEFUL ADMINISTRATION OF FUNDS, providing absolutely no medical treatments themselves. Never substitute a government program for ANY private industry, no matter what.

Costs for everything including treatment will come down without the inflated insurance guaranteed pricing. And whatever one's withheld income was obligated for "insurance" remains in one's personal savings, even if such a personal savings account were federally mandated, at least during the transition.

It isn't as if any insurance benefits cover everything without limitations. At some point, the insurance drops the coverage at least when the limit is reached. That still leaves catastrophic medical bills for the worst circumstances which insurance does not meet.  When would a minimalist "catastrophic" insurance policy actually kick in, what would it actually cover, and at what point during the medical catastrophe would the policy be dropped by the carrier? It isn't as if the insurance industry is a charity institution, undeterred in purpose by financial losses. And it isn't as if an insurance company doesn't alter policy contracts after initiated, either. Obama's unprecedented presidential breaking of contract law has opened the Pandora Box of consequences enabling the most powerful to break contract "because they could" [Clinton's reason for perjury].

The other night I watched Oblowhard's interview of Ed Rendell--with the sound down.  Fox did the split screen, and all you could see was BOR jacking his jaws and waiving his arms, non-stop, and Rendell just sitting there, waiting to get a word in.  It was funny to watch Rendell's body language go from smiling and relaxed  to increasingly frustrated. 

He, BOR, might be the worst interviewer working on tv today.  Of the Fox prime time hosts, Greta is the best interviewer, whatever else you may think of her show, because she asks good questions and then lets the guest answer.

Just another outgrowth of the FDA deciding they has the authority to regulate cigarettes. The FDA is another regulatory group tat has outlived its usefulness.

A good idea gone bad, they no longer actually do much at all to make sure food is pure. Instead they just write new regulations requiring yet more paper. Regulations which favor big companies, punish small businesses, and still allow the crooks to get away with murder until they kill more than one person in a single event.

Time to trash that entire agency, give it to the States and start over.

About the FDA. When I worked in health-care, I came across a number of Brit nurses. To a person they could not understand why we in the States didn't use Heroin as the main pain-killer of choice, as opposed to Morphine.

To them, Morphine was ok, but not even a very close second to Heroin. And they weren't buying the old "But you can get addicted" routine, which seems to pretty much sum up why that drug isn't used in U.S. Hospitals.

Wasn't much I could say to them about it. They had the experience of the use of both drugs.

They are most likely making the cigarette companies pay for it. The companies will just raise the price of the product once again. Soon the cigarette companies will all close up shop in the U.S. and move overseas.

People who smoke will be back to the way it was in the early days. Grow a few plants, harvest it themselves, and roll their own. Goof for people in the SE but tough for the people in the Northern climes.
