Yesterday morning, that Drudge link made me remember the Hitchens disappointment.

Having nothing to do with the "faith" argument, my regret regarding Hitchens is that he was a scholarly wimp, went with the debate flow without proper research to actually BE an authority on significant matters, choosing instead too hedge. Hitchens has/had the intellect to study, know and influence, but chose chose to play dumb with his stances on matters such as the SCIENCE of Global Warming. He allowed personality to determine his stances, proving to be a follower of popularity amongst his intellectual smart ass set. It isn't as if Hitchens was unaware of Lord Monckton's scholarly presentations of empirical scientific researched evidence proving all along tha fraud. Hitchens never had the guts to support what was "right" when it threatened his popularity. He certainly never had the guts to stand against the powers that be with his early attack on Henry Kissinger; he simply let it go. And as it is, Kissinger will get the last laugh. Hitchens is a brilliant coward. He squandered his brilliance because he was too lazy, being indifferent to moral character. Hitchens' life was determined by his bent for notoriety and celebrity status.

Hitchens' real problem is that he rarely follows his own points to their logical conclusions. He is a creation of the modern media, and has allowed its fixation on the sound bite and the hit and run comment to govern his own thoughts. Hitchens rarely says anything stupid; but he also rarely says anything complex. But give him his due; it usually sounds really, really impressive!

i watch that show too, the show is nothing but Alec Baldwin. I get the occasional laugh from other characters, but without him that show would be terrible.

I am not big on Tina Fey, she strikes me as someone who is highly overrated because she is a girl in a predominatly male profession. I know comedians see themselves and open minded and liberal, but let's not kid ourselves, it is an all boys club with a no girls allowed policy that is enforced.

Speaking of Obama's flights, here's something that got very little attention during the 2008 campaign:

Obama campaign chartered the drug plane off of Dickson City businessman Mike Murphy

On July 20, a plane with 420 pounds of marijiuana on it was seized by police in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. The plane is owned by a wealthy Scranton area businessman named Michael Murphy.

According to federal campaign finance records, pot wasn't the only thing the plane was used to haul.

The Obama Presidential campaign chartered Mike Murphy's plane during the presidential campaign. On August 8, 2008 the Obama campaign filed a report that they made a payment of $7,700 for a charter flight to Erin Air of Dickson City, which Mike Murphy of Dickson City, started in 2002.

No word how Obama found this charter service, but the National Democratic Party has chartered it 2 times and the PA Democratic Party chartered it once.

The National Democratic Party chartered it on 10/09/08 for Senator Bob Casey of Scranton for a cost of $2,053 and then again on 11/10/08 again for Senator Casey for a cost of $1,865. The Pennsylvania Democratic Party also chartered the plane on 1/5/09 for $1,820, no word on who used the plane.

According to a Scranton Times news report, Mike Murphy claimed he was trying to sell his plane when a broker from South Carolina found a potential buyer by the name of Heath Michael Gephart of the Harrisburg area. Gephart was to demo the plane in the first week of July and then return it on the 13th or 14th.

According to flight records the plane was picked up at the Avoca airport on July 6th just before 11:00 am, and flown to the Harrisburg airport. After about a 5 hour lay over the plane was then flown to Tucson with some refueling stops and an overnight stay along the way and the plane returned to Harrisburg Airport on July 9th at 3:30 am.

The plane sat at the Harrisburg Airport from July 9 to the 17th according to flight records. On the 17th the plane again flew to Tucson and was apparently on it's way back to the Harrisburg airport again when it stopped for fuel in Arkansas. The plane had been flagged as suspicious by Homeland Security as it left the Tucson Airport.
