Mitch the bitch is going to sell us out for another mess o’pottage. His whole article stinks of “evil Republicans” blocking aid to poor out of work citizens.

The economic and political stakes are considerable, because without a compromise, the tax rates signed into law by former President George W. Bush will go up for virtually every U.S. taxpayer on Jan. 1.

If a compromise passes before then, it would mark a rare bipartisan accomplishment for President Barack Obama and the congressional GOP leadership, who have found little common ground over the past two years. But it would also come at a cost for Obama, who risks alienating members of his own party who have resisted extending the cuts and liberal supporters as he begins his likely 2012 re-election run.

And no we didn’t have a “rare newspaper bipartisan moment” where they mentioned that this whole thing was a charade by the Dems. Or that these lack of these “bipartisan moments” has been solely due to refusal of the Dems to give on any issue. They have pushed full bore communism since they got all three offices. Hell they have even locked the Republicans out of committee meetings. I hope they remember all this next year, but I am sure they wont.

Note that this is a WSJ news story so yes, one would expect it to be slanted in favor of the Dems. But, someone at Fox made an editorial judgment to put it on their web site.

But what the Repubs should do is hold firm until next year. Let the tax rates go up and this pass a bill immediately next year to knock them back retroactive to Jan 1.

14 I hadn't heard of Turducken before last week when we found a holistic dog food that our adopted wild pup accepts greedily (refusing PurinaOne and Blue Buffalo brands). An Associated Press investigation found students forced to work in strip clubs instead of restaurants. Others take home $1 an hour or even less. Some live in apartments so crowded that they sleep in shifts because there aren't enough beds. Others have to eat on floors.

They are among more than 100,000 college students who come to the U.S. each year on popular J-1 visas, which supply resorts with cheap seasonal labor as part of a program aimed at fostering cultural understanding.

What the assholes are not telling is that this is common at Myrtle Beach and I suspect other resort areas as well. I know for a fact that strippers and bartenders there have to PAY for the privilege of working at some of those places. If they are getting $1/hr then they must be a “slow” place away from the main attractions.

Except IIRC, rainforest soil is notoriously incapable of supporting food crops. When indigenous peoples clear-cut rainforests and burn the waste wood/brush, the ashes from the burn seep into the soil and support the crops.....for a season, maybe two. After that, the natural red jungle soil takes over.
