Anyone know if the song 'everyday America' is getting much airtime now that we're really in the depression they were pretending we were in way back then?

I've gone from "open-mouthed shock" to "cynical laughter" as my default response to anything on the news. Just keep reminding yourself that we've always been at war with Eastasia, and don't bother with any "But -- you said"s. The road forked, and history took the way toward the brave new world (if I may be allowed to mix my references). I've got the popcorn. Kratos is bringing the beer.

1. Republicans are party of no, and have only obstructed. They will have difficulty if they ever regain majority, since, they are only able to obstruct. This is a fact. They have offered no ideas but are fortunate in being able to blame the Democrats for failure.
2. The NY southern district is the only bestest court to try terror suspects and anyone who thinks a military tribunal can match their awesomeness is ignorant. We know this because they had a terrorist defense attorney say it on the radio. 145 terrorist have been tried in the courts vs. 3 in tribunals. [no mention of experts that say only about 15 were actual terrorists or that the tribunals have been so slow due to liberal obstructionism]
3. Many Republican politicians are also resigning because they are unhappy with the atmosphere created in Washington by partisanship [which is caused by Republicans, see note 1. above.] So the Reublican strategy of punishing centrists is also hurting some Republican politicians.
Your tax dollars at work.

I know there are geeks in here..
Adding tabs to my browser supercharged my Web surfing. I didn't need to have dozens of windows open. I could open a dozen sites in a single window. It was like I had gone from crawling to driving a race car.
Unfortunately, progress comes at a cost. Having four dozen tabs open at once really sucks up resources. If you browse like this, things tend to slow down. Sites load slowly. Videos turn choppy. And occasionally, the whole thing crashes.
But you can't be asked to go back to crawling, can you? That would be undignified. If you've experienced these problems, try BarTab. This Firefox extension preserves performance while you go tab crazy.
You often load tabs in the background (e.g., right-click>>Open Link in New Tab). When this happens, BarTab freezes any loading. The tab will only load when you actually click on it. Open all the tabs you want. But only use system resources when looking at them.
(You can manage BarTab from the Tabs tab in the options menu. On a PC, click Tools>>Options. On Mac, click Firefox>>Preferences.)

Re Sidebar item: Facebook bashed for building new data center in area of Oregon that uses coal for power generation.
All should read that article AND the link to the petition. This illustrates perfectly the utter stupidity of the Gaia worshipping faction of the liberal idiots. I tried to check and see if this organization is a watermelon org but not enough info on their web site. They have a big picture of Al Frankin on the front page and they support EVERY typical liberal project, including massive socialism. But there isnÂ’t the strong Marxist flavor that you see at a lot of these types of sites.
So yes, they are socialist, but I donÂ’t know if I would call them watermelon or not. Note that they are home based in San Francisco.
Their stupid petition basically says if you build in any area served by a coal plant that you are bing powered by coal. They are too stupid to understand that you are powered by the “grid” whch gets power from everything.

#1 :
From the AP at http://tiny.cc/r7ouN
Headline reads: "Jobless claims rise unexpectedly"
with this pearl of wisdom at the end:
"Some experts say the snowstorms may have cost the economy as many as 100,000 jobs in February. Government hiring for the census also could be delayed."
Must've been some snowstorm.

Oh fuck me sideways. Is there a job that involves going to their houses and punching them in the face? Because if there is, I want it, paperwork or no. I've got a job that I absolutely loathe, and I come to it every morning and I'm damn grateful for it. Fucking snowflakes. Not everybody gets to do what they want all the time in life. Deal.

maddogg, this is what settled science looks like, eh?
MiskolcziÂ’s research was greeted less than cordially by his bosses. After submitting his results to Applied Optics, a respected peer-review journal, he was told to withdraw the paper by his employer, Analytical Services and Materials, a NASA contractor. When he protested (the paper was midway through the review process), his boss withdrew it...
Explains Zagoni: “First the government tried to frighten me, and then when that did not work, they kicked me out from my job. I lost my job because of my scientific convictions. I wanted to talk publicly about Dr. Miskolczi’s results, but in the pre-Copenhagen days it was not tolerated by my government superiors.”

A friend of mine ( who worked in comedy) told me that she had been at several parties when Maher was there and he pretty much had a hooker under each arm. And this was in the early '90's. Even though I liked him at the time, that sort of changed my perspective of him. Which has been downhill ever since, just too keep with an Olympic theme here.

Mark Levine the other night was alternately quoting Maher's comments on teabaggers wanting it to be the 1950s but how that was a bad era for women and minorities and then calling Maher an "anus" because he can't say "asshole" on the air.
Levine pointed out that no tea partier wants it to be the 1950's they just don't want it to be the 1950s in China.

Some members of the Scottish Parliament have called on Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill to better explain why a second medical opinion was not sought before deciding to release the terrorist. MacAskill has responded saying the medical report stating Megrahi was dying of terminal cancer is accurate.

But nearly six months later, al-Megrahi is still calling in about twice a month from Libya to authorities in Scotland as part of the terms of his release.

Did you get to see Lindsay Vonn and Julia Mancuso? Boy the women's downhill was incredible. I couldn't believe how icy the course was. So many people fell.
I am amazed that none of the three women who crashed were seriously injured, especially the one from Sweden who I was sure must have broken some limb. Although the lady from Italy just looked pissed off rather than hurt--I am sure the Italian cuss words were pouring forth but there was no audio of them.

Of course, that's not okay. My points are that 1) It doesn't look like the school district actually invaded his privacy. Naughty pictures have a way of getting around, 2) there's no guarantee that the assistant principal knows jack about what the district is capable of doing technically (I say this as someone working in a neighboring district were 99% of the staff can barely run an excel sheet, and 3) it's unlikely they even have a staff member who sits around all day and looks at web cams. The people who probably have access to this stuff most assuredly don't know how to use it.
So yes, it's a concern but my guess is that something like that is not likely to happen.

$15k.
For comparison, he got a $500k advance for "Dreams from my Father" being reconfigured/abridged into a book appropriate for children (I'm guessing they'll purge the cocaine references).

Local radio is reporting that the pilot of the plane that hit the IRS offices in Austin set his own house on fire this morning. Looking for a link.

Students only found out about the snooping when a principal told a student they had a picture of him doing something wrong in his home, the suit says.
“The school district has the ability to intercept images from that webcam of anyone or anything appearing in front of the camera at the time of activation,” the lawsuit against the Lower Merion School District claims.

See my previous posts. I wouldn't count on the assistant principal as the technical expert on what the district can or can't do with this stuff.
My guess is they can "intercept" images that occur while the student is using the webcam during a school related cam session and nothing more.

When the student is using a computer provided by the district and engaging in activity that was likely prohibited by the agreement he signed prior to be issued the laptop.
That's when.
