There's a good video at Patterico's about Max Blumenthal (just scroll down a bit).

Reminders of some of the things he's done before and a good summary of what he's doing now.

2 In NYT (read at café, not bought!), Robert Reichchchchchchchchchch advocates that health insurers loose their anti-trust exemption.  I agree, because the exemption makes the carriers government-ish.

More important, he says insurers made $12.2 billion in profit last year.  That's about $42 when divided by 300 million Americans.

Does anyone believe that government-run healthcare would cost less than $42 in overhead per-person?  Or that more regulation would lower that cost below $42/person.

Thanks little Robert for making out point.

You need to do that math using just the people those companies actually ensure.  You'll get a bigger number, but it will still be less than the government will be able to manage.

So today, they are going to beat the crap out of a man who runs a company that directly or indirectly employs over 250,000 Americans.

Brilliant.

9 HereÂ’s a parable using a different approach to influence people:

"I was talking to a friend of mineÂ’s little girl the other day. I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she replied, “I want to be President!” Both of her parents are liberal Democrats and were standing there. So then I asked her, “If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?”

She replied, “IÂ’d give houses to all the homeless people.”

“Wow - what a worthy goal.” I told her, “You donÂ’t have to wait until youÂ’re President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and IÂ’ll pay you $50. Then IÂ’ll take you over to the grocery store where this homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward a new house.”

Since she is only 6, she thought that over for a few seconds. “Why doesnÂ’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?”

And I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party.”

Her folks still arenÂ’t talking to me.

17 The anti-trust exemption is what allows insurance companies to share actuarial information. Without it, small companies would be unable to assess risk. Only huge insurers would exist. It isn't like baseball's exemption.

I’m going with a new one. Not sure if it’ll stick, but I like it still the same. Leftist Activist Media Boobs, or LAMBS. I would call them sheep, but sheep are more mature and tend to be independent. “Lambs” seems much more appropriate.

Yes, the liberals hate profit. What they don't say is that the average hea;th insurance company makes about 3.5% profit. That is one of the lowest profit margins of any buisness sector.

They even were complaining about BCCS on another thread a few days ago. BCBS is non-profit!

Hey, but if they get what they want they will reduce that average profit to 0% and they will all go out of buiness and the onnly thing left will be government.

All things government are always high cost, low value, but they are non-profit!

For years, the Democrats have been saying that the Republicans are in bed with big business.

It's all smoke, mirrors and balony.

To get their contributions, Democrats are now providing socialism for the rich and for big business, and to get their votes, Democrats are providing socialism for the poor ....., and again, the middle class gets the shaft, paying for the government handouts that are given to the poor and to the rich..

Bingo! Those Hollywood clowns live in mansions, have private jets, a fleet of cars etc. yet they are the ones demanding more socialism as long as it doesn't affect them and their tax shelters. Let's tax those fat cats to the tune of 95% just to make everything fair of course.

57 Contrarian view of inflation debate

"Contrary to popular belief, noted technical analyst Robert Prechter says the extraordinary action taken by the Federal Reserve to bail out the economy will not lead to runaway inflation." Deflation is gaining the upper hand very, very slowly, but it's happening," Prechter the founder of Elliott Wave International tells Tech Ticker. Of course, as anyone familiar with his work knows, he's been saying this for years."
