So what is the NEWS today???
A different take in slanting by the media is “lack of news”. The only coverage by the MSM of the “health scammitt” Dem PR conference yesterday is by ABC who repeated the same old BS “Republican Party of No” meme. None of the other networks have anything at all about it.
That tells you how awful bad the Dems did. The media canÂ’t even lie their way out of it.

Speaking of the summit. Someone posted here recently that Obama thinks he is King.
His problem is that the King is John. At Runnymede.
Looking at Obama's face during the summit is pretty much the same look John has in any depiction of the signing of the Magna Carta. Irritated, to say the least.

Feb. 26 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. economy expanded at a 5.9 percent annual rate in the fourth quarter, more than the government reported last month, reflecting stronger business investment and a greater contribution from inventories.

WASHINGTON – Facing potential midterm election losses and a stuck-in-the-mud legislative program, Democrats can now add to their worries the ethics problems of chief House tax writer Rep. Charles Rangel.
The House ethics committee accused Rangel on Thursday of accepting corporate money for trips to Caribbean conferences in violation of House rules. The committee said it couldn't determine whether Rangel knew about the financing, but found that his staff did — and concluded Rangel was responsible for learning the truth.
I'm sure that racism is at the heart of this investigation. And does this mean that Charlie in the pocket of big evil corporations?

The old social and political divisions have given way to two new classes — rather as on the trains. Those in economy are most of us, paying for the comforts of those in first class. And those in first class are the new political class — all those who owe their advancement and their security and their pensions and their privileges not to their backgrounds or their talents, or even necessarily their political parties, but to the state and our taxes.”

I was mildly rooting for Paterson since Obama started bullying him, but hiking the alcohol taxes and closing the Revolutionary War historical sites to "save money" while refusing to cut actual waste (or to close less important historical sites...the estate of John Lincklaen is a higher priority than Oriskany Battleground?! Really?!) pissed me off.

The meme from the media today is that "reconciliation" has been used many times in the past, including 5 times by the evil Bush/Cheney duo.
Wendell "Great Pyramid" Goller started his speil by saying Bush inherited a "budget surplus" and then used reconciliation to pass a "tax cut".
Yes, that "fair and balanced" network is laying the groundwork FOR the Dems talking points.

Haven't been able to pay attention lately, been swamped, however wasn't there just a court case wherein a judge said CA had to pay back pay or something? Is that being paid with IOU's. Would you or I be able to give anyone an IOU?

Big Headline over at Fox:
U.S. Climate Data Compromised by Sensors' Proximity to Heat Sources, Critics Say
A critical cog in the machinery that drives the theory of global warming may be compromised, as temperature sensors across the U.S. appear to be exposed to heat sources that some critics say is corrupting their information.
Way to go Fox. This story broke 6 months ago. Of course, we were all deniars then.

I don't know about any judge, but CA did use IOUs in the past and required certain banks to accept them. I think they stopped and finally paid up in real dollars, but looks like they're going back to Plan A after all.
The bad news for all of you in CA who are paid through 1099s: Cough up more for your estimated taxes. The good news: Business is so bad here your estimated taxes may be half of what they were last year.
Honestly, why not just go IOU full-time? I'm not a lawyer, and I don't care too much about legalities for this argument, since the state of CA seems to do what it wants no matter what anyone thinks the law says. If they can get away with issuing IOUs to banks in lieu of USD payments, and if they can force the banks to pay out USD to depositors, why not just "print" what is in effect California fiat money, scrip, and run deficits like Big Fed? It isn't any more insane than the other ideas they have in Sacramento. Like spending state legislature time on stuff like this:
ABC's Bradley Blackburn blogs from New York:
It's a bar of soap in the mouth for an entire state: California's lawmakers have approved a "Cuss-Free Week" to encourage the state's citizens to watch their language.
Posted by: George Orwell at February 26, 2010 08:24 AM (AZGON)
But, wait, there's more!
An Alameda County Superior Court judge said Thursday that California owes back pay to tens of thousands of state workers that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has furloughed without pay since last February.

If CA declared bankruptcy they would be able to get the unions off their back and start over.
The problem is that bankruptcy goes to federal court. In CA that would be a severe loss. The unions would wind up owning the State.
Posted by: Vic at February 26, 2010 09:05 AM (QrA9E)
From what I'm told by my CA friends, normal regular Americans are leaving the state in droves so maybe all that's left will be the union members anyway so heck give them the state, with the tax base gone what are they going to do. I'm waiting for someone to whole sale take silicon valley out of there with offers of great new campuses and tax advantages and a technically educated native population. As for the research triangle, those toads are the one responsible for the "purpling" of NC. I never can understand what it is with libtard idiots. Penis in a pipe? Been there, done that.
I spent nearly 15 years working at a hospital as a plant engineer. In that time, I freed a penis from a stainless steel ring with a dremel (shoulda used a gold ring), ground a stainless ring from a man's degloved finger with a 4.5" grinder. Degloved is just what you think it is, ring on bone. I pulled a nail out of a guys femur with a crow bar. (DO NOT defeat the safety on your nail gun) I cut a steering wheel off a kid's finger and cut a crescent wrench off another kids' finger. I got a million stories, never a dull moment there.
