Barone says Nanny Nan doesn't have the votes.
Maybe that’s why they came up with that outrageous “rule” that says it has already passed yesterday.

We have a rarity on the floor in the House of Representatives Thursday. The House will debate and vote on four articles of impeachment of federal Judge Thomas Porteous of New Orleans.
Judge Thomas Porteous (name that party) extreme liberal appointed by Bill Clinton will be impeached today!

Morning!
The district's enrollment of fewer than 18,000 students is about half of what the schools had a decade ago and just a quarter of its peak in the late 1960s.
Many students have left for publicly funded charter schools, private and parochial schools and the suburbs.
Just a wild guess here, but I'm going to say this is probably very, very good news for the 18,000 kids who are in other schools now.

What? We don't keep the ONT till noon?
Check out the close close-up of Nanny on Drudge. Looks like she missed a botox treatment. She must apply foundation with a caulking gun and a trowel.

7 That isn't foundation; it's that fake skin they use for movie special effects.
That bluster from yesterday, I believe, is just that -- I still think she doesn't have the votes and is trying every (lame) tactic in the book. I think she's also hoping that by keeping up the scare she can get the public to either cower/roll over, or do something stupid -- that's the only way they "win" anything out of this.
Bitch.

If she were a Republican, they'd be calling for her to resign.
Everyone, including a bunch of eyore Republicans called for Dennis Hastert to resign.

I love the Paleo-Clamatology piece. That Roman Warming period is going to be just one more previous "warm" period that makes today, not so unprecedented.
And the possibility of clam studies in the Southern Hemisphere, must have the alarmist dirtying their drawers. Their last objection that MWP is weather, not climate, because of a lack of Southern data will come down like a house of cards.

Yeah, this throws me off. Mornings are for Lileks, Tim Blair, and Power Line.

I'm in Kansas City, and that school closing thing is only the latest issue with that district. They've been in the news constantly for about the last 15 years. Or a decade or too longer, if you count that insane 'desegregation lawsuit.'
In about 23 years they've gone through 21 Superintendents. Each one they've hired was praised as just what we need to get over these problems. And each one has pissed off someone on the Board, and ends up getting fired.
The real problem is the Board, some of them have been there for decades and have gotten their own little political kingdom going. I think some members of the Board have more sway and influence than the actual City Council members.
The place is such a mess that one of the first things this Sup. did was tell everyone that you have to physically show up at a specified place to pick up your paycheck. Seems they had a lot of payroll problems, and no one could adequately explain who all was on the lists and what they did for that paycheck.

They have had southern data that showed the MWP and the mini-ice age was not limited to the Northern Hemisphere for decades.
They are ocean bed core bores. You just never hear about it from the media.

I read that sidebar article and noted the same old shit that the Democrat big city administrations ALWAYS do when faced with a budget crunch and can't raise taxes. Lay off the NECESSARY employees like teachers, police, and fire dept while keeping the graft corruption and welfare.
Also note the blame going to "banks redlining" etc. That same old crap that was discredited as soon as the report came out.
As soon as the urban trogladites realize that electing socialist Dems to run the city always results in bankruptcy maybe they will stop voting for them.
Also, wasn't it Kansas City that the federal court ordered to raise taxes and provide more funding for the schools? I find it ironic that now they are shutting them down.

Hmm, Cubs... almost as bad!
I will try, once again this year, to like the Royals, since the K is just a couple miles from the house. Fact is, I pretty much grew up on the other side of the state and have been a lifelong Cardinals fan, at least when I feel compelled to be a fan of anything.
As for the Royals, I've had a bug about them since '85. That man was clearly OUT!

"They have had southern data that showed the MWP and the mini-ice age was not limited to the Northern Hemisphere for decades."
True enough. I didn't mean total lack, just not very much. Which is true, but not enough so, that the Jones of the world should be able to get away discounting it.
How about the fact that the outside, independent IPCC panel will NOT be reviewing any of the previous IPCC claims or science. On the surface it will just be proposing new work processes. Beneath the surface, the real effort will be implementing new methods for avoiding detection.
We've come a long way baby.

Eh, that's standard for straw polls. There was one on the Iowa State campus when I was there, all the campaigns would pay your entrance fee if you promised to vote for their guy (and they had to know full well the students were all going to vote for the Democrat in the general). Forbes was popular, he had the best caterer.

Did that cut the payroll by half?
The tone of the article is so dramatic. "Desparate bid" and "most painful vote".
Um, if they've lost half of their students, what did they think would happen?? Why are they shocked? Did they have salty, undrinkable coffee, too and so didn't realize that halving the student population would mean a need for fewer schools and teachers??

Yes, that was the Deseg Case, that brought up the whole forced cross-town bussing of students in the name of "integration." And the Fed Judge in the case did raise some form of tax to pay for it, and appointed a local law firm to monitor the progress of the forced integration and netting them several million bucks a year. Let's see, do we report things are cool now, or do we say there are still problems and keep our millions coming in?
Now that said, as I understood how it happened, something DID need to be done. Seems most of the black population tended to live in one central area, and the various districts for each school were drawn out to represent that area. When a sufficient number of black people moved out that area, they would redraw those lines to reinclude them in the central schools. Went on for years.

Last night in the ONT I linked to the page with the orders and haven't seen anything there that talks about the "land grab" or the "you can't fish" thing.
They have not issued the E.O. for the fishing thing yet. They just closed out the public comment period for the proposed rule.
Personally I don't think OBama has the authority to do what he wants to do with an E.O. I am hoping one of the States sues if he tries to implement this.
This isn't even a treaty. It is bowing to a foreign lobbyist group.

This is interesting as his counter parts in Nassau, the neighboring county and Westchester were put out in the recent elections by the voters and replaced by republicans. Suozzi, according to my sources, wasn't that bad and lost by like a hundred votes but he might have been a challenger for governor.

Hell, I'm sure they are. I remember a few years ago, they local grocers union protesting a "scab" store. was talking to one of th epicketers, who slipped up and told me he was being paid minimum wage to stand there for 8 hours a day. So the thought of them being paid to protest does not surprise me in the least.

What really angers me about this is they fail to acknowledge the role that government has played in this situation. They fail to see that the oversights were removed by our lawmakers and that places like the SEC were deaf dumb and blind.

Wall Street has become a symbol of greed run amok, and what labor is doing here is seeking to demonstrate that it is speaking for working families generally, union member or non- union member.
What does that phrase mean? Seriously--that one has always bugged me because it doesn't make any sense.

Yes. And even most "good schools" are staffed with teachers required by the state to get a four-year degree in Marxist indoctrination to obtain a license...
Random thought: if profit is so bad, why aren't these "downtrodden" folks protesting record labels and "recording artists"? Movie studios and SAG? The NFL? NCAA basketball?

But watch CNBC for a couple of days and see how many of these guys are already in Singapore and China and the like. And they have been there since this began.

It's so disappointing about that organization. I was a Cards fan during the Whitey Herzog era when the biggest guy they had was Jack Clark and everybody else was about 160 lbs dripping wet in the shower (I have it on good authority from Rahm Emanuel!) and stole 50 or more bases. That was a fun team to watch - base stealing, great fielding, switch hitting, small game baseball. Even the pitching was fun. Whitey used to put pitchers into the outfield for a batter or two while he brought in a specialist, then put them back on the mound.
Steroids have ruined baseball.

The key to the unions calling for Wal-Street stuff and the bad profit motive one must keep in mind that the entire union movement in the U.S. was founded by the communists and that is their underlying philosophy.
Right now Wal Street is an easy target because the medxia is yet to give the truth on what caused all the problems we are having now. They just parrot the talking points of the Democrap/Communist Party and the 52% sheeple believe it.
They are on Fox now continuing the deonization of the insurance industry which has a very low profit. I would like to see and insurance complany ask a congressman on one of these House hearings what he would consider an acceptable profit.
When they gave a number like 10% (the standard is 15) they could then say OK we'll raise our rates until we get 10% profit.
