The assholes in congress and the Obama regime would do well to research some real history before enacting these taxes against the middle class and upper classes in order to “redistribute the wealth” as the head commie likes to put it.
Even after the colonies became independent and the U.S. was formed there were numerous armed uprising against the U.S. government. The common thing amongst all these uprising was taxes and the fact that the taxes were unfairly hitting their segment of the population as opposed to the population as a whole.
The first was ShayÂ’s Rebellion in MA (1786). Farmers in MA had been conscripted to fight in the war or had volunteered only to be discharged without pay. When they got home they found that their property was being or had been seized for non-payment of taxes and debt. Result, armed uprising. It can be said that our present Constitution is a direct result of ShayÂ’s Rebellion.
The next was the Whiskey Rebellion (1791). As a method for paying off Revolutionary War debt Alexander Hamilton pushed through the whiskey tax. The problems was that this tax hit the western famres hard and harly impacted the wealthy in the East. The chief source of income for western farmers was making whiskey from their corn and shipping it East over the mountains.
The next was FrieÂ’s Rebellion (1789). Here the government thought they were doing it right. Ths was a tax levied against property. Primarily houses, land, and slaves. The problems as far as John Fries (PA) was concerned was the method of taxing houses. This was a direct tax which according to the new Constitution must be levied based on population. Instead it turned out to be a direct tax based on property ownership which included determining how big your house was by counting the windows in it. What is funny about this tax is that it impacted the South more than anyone else (the first of many) but the rebellion occurred in PA.
So you can see that the first three uprisings in the U.S. were over tax policy that hit one segment of society over another and were perceived to be unfair.
There, that's my contribution to top headlines today; now let's debate!

From a blog called truthbeforedishonor.wordpress there is an excellent post of where we go from here. Also beware of any Repubs who say we can fix this rather than repeal. It is similar to someone on the Titanic saying we can fix the whole when we get to shore.
Next challenge is amnesty. We have a lot of work before us. We need our good people-like Cantor, Bachmann and Ryan. Contribute to their campaigns. You know Nancy has put targets on their backs.
BTW, Mark Levin interviewed and endorsed the Dr. running against Stupak last night, and linked to him on his website. As Hillbuzz says, Stupak spelled backwards is Kaput.

And the 'solution' we've been given is even more government control.
The people who caused this problem are the ones offering their new solution-- the only real goal in all this has been more power for government.

I'm pretty sure all the "it's not fair women pay higher premiums" scrunts don't realize (or don't care...) that the reason is because women use insurance more to obtain more medical services--men don't have babies or annual Pap smears. But I am pretty sure the response of insurance companies to this new "premiums for men and women have to be equal now" bullshit will be to jack up the male rates.
So, single male morons: When you get the notice that your rate is being jacked to obey the new law, you need to schedule the annual Pap smear your insurance now covers. (If your doc is like my dad, he'll appreciate the five minute laughter break in his day before he moves on to the Title XIX scrunt who made an appointment for kid and brought three, all with different ailments).
There's probably a magazine article in this somewhere; let me know if you do it 'cuz I'd love to help.
Surely there's a class-action lawsuit here somewhere, when millions of men are denied a service their insurance legally has to cover.

My understanding is that companies already cover some people with pre-existing conditions for huge premiums (numbers calculated based on what they expect your care to cost). Now the law says they have to cover everyone, but it doesn't set limits on the premium, so unless someone is already wealthy (Limbaugh wealthy, not "graduated high school and have a job" wealthy) already there's not much change.
Also, the new law about "can't refuse to cover" only applies children. I kind of enjoyed pointing that out to some jackass the other day who thinks now he's going to be able to buy insurance at same rate as his brother.

34 Mark Levin yesterday had an interesting take on obamacare. His advice is that since healthcare is now a right, demand it early and often and demand the best. Demand it at whatever cost and demand it right now.
Yeah, that'll work. Just as well as demanding the Army issue you custom tailored fatigues.

In my experience, the "pre-existing condition" problem usually has a time limit. Either the individual cannot have been hospitalized for the issue in the past 90 days, or the individual has to wait for 90 days for coverage of the condition to kick in. Usually, there's some period of time after which the individual gets full benefits. Is this correct?
Most of the plans I've seen through various employers don't have requirements for pre-existing conditions at all - you start work, and you're covered once you're in the system. Occasionally it matters if you switch plans.
I'm just not sure it's a huge issue. It was probably a bigger issue 20 years ago, but I'm pretty damn sure that it's not a big issue now.

I actually had the savings for a fairly comfortable retirement built up 5 years before I retired but since my wife had had thyroid cancer it would have been almost financially impossible to get insurance.
Also, a former contract worker we had at the Site came back and was rehired. His reason for leaving the contracting business and coming back to out site? His wife developed cancer and the site's was willing to cover it insurance-wise.
There have always been ways to get around the "pre-existing" condition crap.
Now, it looks like Obamacare is going to screw up my insurance.

At one time Kentucky taxed according to how many rooms were in a house. The owners of a big 19th century told me this when I asked why all of the closets were (at the most) two feet deep. Any deeper and they'd have been considered rooms.

The difference is that custom tailored fatigues are not a right. Under obamacare, healthcare is. I think Levin's point is that if healthcare is now a right and you don't get it, there are now legal avenues open to you to insist on it.

There is a lot at stake in New York. The downstate is supporting the Upstate. The upstate might hate the downstate but without them, the upstate, but for the state university system and a few companies who were kind enough to stay, they would be detroit on a grand scale. In New York, $250,000. in income is meager. The cost of living is enormous and many people have to stay because that is where their job is based. Also, NY is a financial power house. Should NYer's begin leaving then there is a chance that the 'financial capital of the world" title would go overseas to London. That would affect everyone. What goes on in NY, particularly NYC, impacts everyone whether they like it or not. If NY becomes a second CA, the country will inevitably be impacted.

I have been asking on the blogs for days and days, since the bill was allegedly posted, "has anyone, anywhere, any media, analyzed this bill?"...I got no responses. I checked everywhere for breakdowns....nothing. You can understand lone bloggers not wanting to open Pandora's box by analyzing it and breaking it down because you get the feeling that it would be like putting yourself out there for a beat down of the first order but you can't understand the silence from the MSM.
There is a project at Princton that is nick named, "the web bot project"...it's been mentioned here before. People have said that they issued a new report. People have also said that only Einstein can understand said report and even then, they had their doubts. A lot of people opened that bill, began reading and realized it was a formidable task. Even with a team of attorney's around a conference table, i'm told it would be a formidable task. so the very people who want private industry banks and the like to give you mortgages, loan agreements, credit card statements and the like in "plain english" so everyone can understand this stuff are now putting out huge legislation full of legalities and basically unreadable....and now, now our health care system will be subject to this mess. I would bet not a single congress person read the bill...

March 23 (Bloomberg) -- Sales of existing U.S. homes fell in February for a third month, indicating a lack of jobs is hindering government efforts to revive demand.
Purchases dropped 0.6 percent to a 5.02 million annual rate, the lowest level in eight months and in line with the median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News, figures from the National Association of Realtors showed today in Washington.

Downstate also has a huge drain in welfare payments and associated expenses. Maybe Buffalo and Rochester are basket cases, but you could say the same about Pennsylvania and Ohio and their big cities aren't financial powerhouses supporting the state.
The cost of living is enormous and many people have to stay because that is where their job is based.

We'll have to stop demanding the latest of everything because we think it's the best." - Dr. Tim Johnson on ABC World News I never heard the MSM say "stop demanding ... the best" before the bill was passed. [ArthurK]
That video is absolutely amazing. ABC is stooping to new lows in propaganda and Democrap ball sucking. The video opens with “elephant in the room – no real cost reductions in bill” then it goes on to praise a couple of the so-called cost reductions that result in doctors and hospitals taking a hit and chastising the “public” for demanding the “latest healthcare” benefits.
The Republican Party bosses need to take note of this kind of crap and develop paid TV adds that counter them. I say paid because there is no way in hell they will get on any news network with a dispute of this kind of crap.
So what is the real counter to cost containment? First get rid of the thing that causes doctors to go after the latest breaking tests and procedures when there are older and cheaper ones available. That is the ambulance/jackpot chasing lawyers. States that have enacted real tort reform have achieved significant savings.
Next get rid of the requirements for insurance companies to cover all the PC related crap that pops up every week from the latest “I am abused group”. Allow insurance companies to offer what ever coverage they desire so they can tailor packages to consumers. If you want a policy that covers 100% of all healthcare costs and sex change operations then you should be willing to pay a large sum for such extravagance. I suspect that most people would opt for something like a catastrophic coverage policy if they had to pay for it out of their own pockets and I suspect that if you got that it would be fairly cheap.
Oh, and the phony “pre-existing” conditions crap, that needs to be exposed for what it is. A public relations propaganda turd shit by the communist party of America and the queen scrunt Pelousi.
But all of these ideas for real fixes should be parlayed as part of the coming “repeal movement”.
