From Instapundit:
AN IMPLAUSIBLE REPORT IN THE SEATTLE TIMES: “A rock was thrown through the window of Driehaus’ Cincinnati office Sunday.”
Justin Binik-Thomas emails from Cincinnati that Rep. Driehaus’ office “is on the 30th floor of a skyscraper downtown.” He also says that he spoke to Driehaus’ office today and they said this never happened. Which is too bad, in a way, as the Reds could use a guy with an arm like that . . . .
The Seattle Times should run a correction.

I may be getting paranoid here, but I can't shake the feeling that the legacy media has concluded that the only way to salvage the November elections for the Democrats is to stage some kind of "Reichstag Fire" event, with people like this poor schlub as the fall guys, and they are starting to lay the foundations by planting the appropriate imagery in the public mind. I must be getting old- I remember when newspapers reported news instead of engaging in cheap propaganda.
On a brighter note, if you thought that after ramming Soviet style health care down our throats the Precedent was going to rush straight into amnesty for illegal aliens you were wrong. Looks like he's going to take a little side trip over to Unilateral Disarmament first. ( http://tinyurl.com/ya625ob ).

Didn't they do that on Mythbusters? Given what I remember from high school physics and/or geometry, I find it hard to believe that a falling bullet with a somewhat vertical trajectory would penetrate a perfectly vertical window. Crack-and-bounce seems more likely. (But I am not a lawyer physicist.)

No, my mission is to bring some reality to the situatiion. A "generic" Republican or Democrat ALWAYS polls strongest. The "generic Republican" was going to destroy Bill Clinton. That generic candidate turned out to be the awesome Bob Dole, who humiliated himself and the GOP and got destroyed himself. The best a "generic" GOP'er can do vs Obama is a tie. Put Romney or Huck in the spot in 2012 and it's another huge victory for the Dems.

Not when fired from a firearm at less than 90 degrees from the ground. Fire a rifle at about 45 degrees and the bullet will climb to a certain altitude and then arc back to earth, but will still retain some of it's horizontal momentum. I figure thats what happened. Also, don't fire firearms at upward angles when people might be downrange, unless you are trying to have an accident.

You really are dense. Nobody is saying Lynch has to win. The Dem is a heavy favorite due to the gerrymandered nature of that district. If Lynch runs closer than expected, then that would be a good sign for the GOP. But if Lynch gets destroyed and you then just give a partisan spin and say "it doesn't matter", you will be wrong as usual.
Special elections are usually closer than normal anyhow due to lower turnout, so there's no reason to think that Lynch can't run a decent race, especially if there is so much anger out there due to Obamacare.

Maddogg, I hadn't envisoned that scenario. In that case, it sounds like someone may have taken a shot at the building. But still, if they had been within visual range, wouldn't the bullet have had enough energy to break the window? The report created the mental image of someone discharging a firearm more or less up in the air (like we used to do back home in Alabama for things like, say, a football victory, or bedding that "certain" cousin).
Not that I'm arguing with you, it's just the overwhelming bovine aroma coming from the official explanation.

Keep explaining away a blowout loss before it happens. Now it's the "tough primary" that's going to cause Lynch to get clobbered, lol.
It's funny. When Obama got elected, it looked like the GOP was dead. Then when Brown won, it looked like the GOP was on the rise, and health care was going down in flames. Now you can sense the momentum shift again and Obama is on the rise, while the GOP has lost direction (typical crappy mixed messaging from the Republicans).
The bottom line is that the public likes winners. And Pelosi and the Dems are winners. And, just like I told the Mutt over the weekend, health care was a done deal with votes to spare. The GOP were losers once again.

Maddogg, I hadn't envisoned that scenario. In that case, it sounds like someone may have taken a shot at the building. But still, if they had been within visual range, wouldn't the bullet have had enough energy to break the window?
From what I heard, the bullet had enough energy to get through the glass, but did not have enough energy to penetrate the blinds. That indicates a spent bullet fried from beyond visual range. Very possible. It has happened many times in the past. A 30-06 bullet fired at a high angle,(slightly less than 45 degrees) may fly 4-5 miles before coming back to ground, and still retain enough kinetic energy to get through a pane of glass.
Posted by: maddogg at March 26, 2010 06:42 AM (OlN4e)
Those were all tremendous victories. But sometime after the MA win, the GOP lost momentum. IMO, it was when they agreed to the health care summit. That softened opposition to Obamacare enough that Dems in swing districts could vote for it.
And, again, the people like a winner. Obama won. The Dems won. The Republican's lost.
Nobody in the GOP knows what to do now. And when you are being led by the Mitch McConnell's of the world, you know you will get your ass kicked at the end of the day.

A South Carolina movie director who also is a former state lawmaker is suing cable TV channels, contending they mixed up one of his films with what he says is a pornographic movie with the same title.
James "Bubba" Cromer said in the suit filed on Monday in Los Angeles that he noticed earlier this month his comedy "The Hills Have Thighs" was going to be on The Movie Channel and Cinemax.
The lawsuit says a television listing had the description of Cromer's movie and its actors. But the Columbia lawyer says what came on instead was a 2010 film with the same name which included nudity and sex acts.
Cromer is asking for an unspecified amount of damages.
The cable channels didn't immediately comment on the lawsuit.

Headline at Fox:
Obama Asks for 'Strong Bipartisan' Senate Support to Ratify U.S.-Russia Arms Treaty
Why am I not assured that this “treaty” is good for the country? I smell another political POS designed to embarrass the Republicans at the cost of national security.

R's should give Obama and the dems the big middle finger. Period.

Awww, c'mon Vic. No problem. We now have a laser that can shoot down enemy missiles.
Wait, what?

Should we be concerned about what is happening with North & South Korea or is the assumption still that North Korea couldn't actually successfully launch nukes?
If lil Kim only has a few years left of life, would he want to go out with a bang?

You're just concerned because you're on the left coast.

Why do democrats punish success and reward mediocrity? Remember people, elections have consequences. A vote for a Democrat is a vote for redistribution.

So if several bullets fall in my neighborhood, would that be a hail of bullets?
No.
Bad marksmanship or Palistinians celebrating.

The problem starts with what the military calls a "meeting engagement". Both sides sort of stumble onto each other, fighting ensues, and then more and more forces from both sides join the fight. Gettysburg is a good example.
So evacuating Seoul isn't a good example. Things would have to get way out of hand before that would happen. And then it would probably be too late.

On the Cantor/bullet thing, it sounds like we're starting to get the story straight here, but let's be aware that agents of the left are trying to claim the episode was basically a hoax.
Put in context, when you're a high-profile (and Jewish) public official who has recieved death threats and you hear that somebody took a shot at a window in your office building, it isn't completely unreasonable to assume the worst. I mean, what are the odds of a congressman's office building (or any other office building, for that matter) being hit by a stray bullet - AND having it break a window? And at a particularly tense time? You could even say that if you had originally assumed that it was just a stray bullet, you'd have sounded pretty silly.
OTOH, apparently the bullet did very little damage, other than just breaking the window. So it would pretty much have to be a stray - assuming the reports on this are accurate, of course.
One could legitimately say that the congressman "jumped the gun" in reporting this before it was investigated, but it probably seemed to be pretty obvious what the deal was at the time. It certainly doesn't rank as a "hoax". No "biggie", one way or the other.
It's still ridiculous how the left is now playing the victim with all this death threat business, after years of ignoring far more significant threats against the other side. Just look at the recent Ann Coulter incident!

March 26 (Bloomberg) -- Unemployment increased in 27 U.S. states in February and dropped in seven, a sign the labor market needs to pick up across more regions to spur consumer spending and sustain the economic recovery.
TodayÂ’s report indicates broad-based hiring is yet to develop following the loss of 8.4 million jobs since the recession began in December 2007. Florida, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina set record levels of joblessness last month.
Lovely spin. Come on now labor market get your act together you're making Barry's economic recovery look bad.

No, you aren't paranoid. I agree. Although the young and the stupid in the media will probably have no idea what you're talking about.
The media has blacked out the bullets being fired at a GOP office, but have blown out of proportion a 'spitting' incident.
If people really start getting bullshit in this country, the MSM should fear for their lives.

Following up on the reloadable military brass thing. ATK (the company involved in the mess) has backed down.
From their contact us page:
ATK Statement Regarding Once-Fired Brass Cases
ATK is a strong supporter of our armed forces, the shooting sports industry, second amendment rights and all of our customers who choose to reload ammunition. In fact, ATK is a leader in the reloading market. A dated brochure and presentation have caused confusion in the marketplace and do not reflect the views of our company and will be immediately withdrawn. As a service to our military customers, we routinely handle demil operations for various munitions and respond to requests from military installations for reclamation and recycling of military items. Each contract is awarded through the military installationÂ’s procurement process. The installations received fair value for the brass.
ATK fully supports the provision passed by Congress last year to ensure that demilitarized spent brass casings remain available for civilian use.
