From the Delta Burqa range, Mama AJ?

BTW, there's a political fight going on in Quebec recently about whether the burqa and niqab should be banned. Quebec might even do something good for the rest of Canada for a change.

Now, what's the nexus from Daddy Tom Ayers and ComEdison to Mansour, who is the front man for many of Alwaleed's businesses?

Rezko, Arafat, Alwaleed/Khalidi made billions from saddam's oil for food program.

As for what o owes the saudis? um.  Make the great satan the proper 58th state of Islam, weapons, and deletion of those pesky shi'ites?

Another question, what does o owe gorby and zbrez?

What are/were the uses of the Tides, Woods and Joyce Foundations by the commies?  Ford Foundation sponsored Cloward/Piven out of the sociology dept of Columbia for over 20 years.  The link with all that info has been scrubbed.

25 As a Soldiers' Angel, I must point out that Michael Yon has made a correction in his story about this soldier. First of all, the story of Soldier X was not shrouded in mystery for months. Mary Ann at Soldiers' Angels Germany gave an account of the lifesaving events at soldiersangelsgermany.org months ago. She also wanted to make another point clear:  "Michael Yon contacted Soldiers' Angels to improve communications about Soldier X's status between his officers and the German civilian hospital after he was moved from British to US and then German medical care. Soldiers' Angels did not directly contact the Acute Lung Rescue Team. Soldiers' Angels role is to support soldiers and soldiers' families, not to initiate or intervene in medical care." Several miliblogs have corrected the story, but so far, the UK article has not been changed.

Amazing that in this day and age, African-Americans are still being denied their Fifth Amendment right to bingo.

After reading that article I just had to go out and investigate because I figured even Jessie can not be that stupid.

It is worse than I figured. Like most Southern States, gambling is illegal. What was going on was that people had built these big halls and filled them up with "electronic bingo" machines. I guess they were similar to the electronic poker machines we had here until they were all shutdown for being illegal.

Well, someone sponsered a bill to allow the bingo machines.  The problem was that it would have given the rights to a few politically connected folks and the bill was shotdown.

Enter Jessie now.  I guess he smells a buck to be made.

The only negative thing I've ever heard -- and no one brings it up -- was a FL Tea Party leader called Beck one morning to say that her group was 100 percent behind Marco, however, the locals questioned him about the "public/private partnerships"  he mentioned in a speech once and he refused to answer.

She said they kept pressing him about what exactly he meant by that and he was a wall.

That's the only red flag I've heard about.

heh, Rush just played the Massa clips.  To quotte Blago, they are "F'n golden".

Four of the libtard idiots I ran with on Saturday were all congregating at one end of the table at our after-run coffee.  The conservatives were at the other end, and the moderates and me were in the middle.  (Kind of funny, arrangement, actually.)  Two of the red blooded conservative guys were talking amongst themselves and bitching about Obama and the Dems.  The libs at the other end asked me what they were talking about.  I told them I couldn't tell them specifically as I was talking to the guys in the middle of the table, and we were not talking about politics.  One of the libs piped up, "Well, we were just discussing how everything would be perfect if it was controlled by the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress were all gone; "Then we could get everything done."  I lol'd and said, "Excuse me but until Scott Brown got elected, you guys had a fillibuster proof majority in the Senate and a big majority in the House, and your guys still couldn't get stuff done.  Don't blame the Republicans, they cannot stop anything."  There was this stunned silence as 4 jaws hit the floor.  They were unable to respond.  It was so awesome.  So I said "Yeah, unfortunately, you've just been gobsmacked by those pesky inconvenient things called facts.  Sucks to be you."  They all got up and left.  It was freaking awesome.

I'm getting to the point that when certain people show up for our runs, I just grit my teeth.  I think I'm getting faster, though, cause I want to just grind those guys into the ground.

Oh, and here's another funny thing, one of the guys (who's 80 something) just bought a non-electric Smart Car.  I mean these guys can't be any dumber.

I read the hand sanitizer article.

Eh.

It doesn't help in a day care center...fine. That doesn't mean it won't help in other situations.

We use it when we get back to the car after being in a store or wherever. Before we started using it, my youngest was the one who kept bringing colds home, despite the fact that he wasn't taking any classes or doing sports like the other kids were. He just puts his hand in his mouth/nose much more often. So I wipe off the grocery cart handles and clean our hands when we get to the car and wash 'em when we get home.

It sounds to me like one of the benefits of these things is simply awareness and developing good habits, which is what you're doing with your kids.  I can't recall if Purell et al claim to be anti-viral, or merely anti-bacterial, but using something to wipe off your hands until you can do a thorough hand wash has to help with some things.

95 87 Duh. If you are with a person all day and they're sick then there is no way to keep away the germs. I use it on myself and the kids everytime we get in the car--keeps you from picking up stuff in public. At school or work, not so much--you would have to use it every 5 seconds while wearing a mask. I used a "floppy seat" with the last baby--a big cushion that fit in the grocery cart and covered everything they could touch---worked like a charm. They didn't get sick until preschool.

On March 8, 1983, President Reagan delivered an address to a meeting of the National Association of Evangelicals in Orlando, Florida. It referred to communism as "the focus of evil in the modern world," and quickly became known as his "Evil Empire Speech." The speech was delivered at a time when Congress was debating a resolution in support of a "nuclear freeze," a doctrine supported by the Soviet Union that would have prevented the deployment of U.S. cruise and Pershing II Missiles in Europe. On March 7, President Reagan had met in the White House with a group of conservative leaders and pro-defense elected officials on the subject of the nuclear freeze. The President advised that his Administration was stalwart in opposition to the nuclear freeze, but meeting participants nonetheless urged him to use his presidential "bully pulpit" more often on the topic. Following the meeting, according to a contemporaneous report by the President's National Security Advisor Judge William Clark, the President added paragraphs to a speech he was scheduled to deliver the next day to the National Association of Evangelicals. Those additional paragraphs turned it from a routine, if worthy, speech to one that electrified dissidents behind the Iron Curtain and appalled Reagan's domestic opposition, including much of the press. The speech was destined to go down in history as one of Reagan's most influential addresses.

Did the two conservatives at the other end of the table hear you?  If not, did ya tell them about it?

Yes, they did.  They were high fiving me after the four libs left all pissed off.

I wonder how many people skip the proper hand wash because they've used the sanitizer.

Ever notice how many women in the public restroom exit their stall and go right out the door?

Yahoo News headline:

Analysis: Iraq's last elections?

Cliff Notes - Evil Militarists want to keep us in Iraq but we need to leave now now now because we're bankrupting the country with our "discretionary" war spending.  The author's a college prof from NY apparently concern-trolling for tea-partiers by cherry-picking statistics.

I expect to see more of this leading up to November, with a roll-out strategy along the lines of "We agree with everything you say, tea-partiers !  The Real Truth is that ObamaCare, Cap & Tax,  and the Spendulus are right up your alley - let us tell you how !" (by raping logic, statistics, and a few chickens)

"Well, we were just discussing how everything would be perfect if it was controlled by the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress were all gone; "Then we could get everything done."  I lol'd and said, "Excuse me but until Scott Brown got elected, you guys had a fillibuster proof majority in the Senate and a big majority in the House, and your guys still couldn't get stuff done...."

Typical liberal crapthink: our supermajority can't get anything done and it's your fault.

These people should not be allowed out in public without adult supervision.

What I "love" (and yes, I'm being facetious) is how the libs stormed off after they fucking started it.

It's a rare liberal who doesn't operate from one of two assumptions (or both): that everyone is interested in their opinions and/or that everyone in the room agrees with them.

Although I was raised in a loud, argumentative family where we always talked about politics, religion, and everything else under the sun, I have changed over the years (being married for 25+ years to a guy from a family who didn't talk about anything of substance will do that to you) and am content to travel through life not talking about politics etc with folks I don't know well.  But I can't even do that.

One of the only good things about being funemployed is that I don't get bombarded with liberal crap everyday.

True dat!  It's funny, and maybe it's the area I live in (People's Republic Of Seattle), but you're right, everyone just assumes that everyone else shares their libtard views.  They also think they're the smartest people in the room, therefore, everyone is hanging on their every word.

115 "...everyone just assumes that everyone else shares their libtard views. They also think they're the smartest people in the room, therefore, everyone is hanging on their every word." ------ One reason I left the Ivory Tower. C'mon does every faculty meeting have to include partisan political crap? (And this was in a science department, not a political science or economics department.) My first job interview when I was looking for faculty jobs was during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. Those sorts of interviews are a couple of days and include several meals, sometimes a party. Anyway, at the dinner the evening after my job talk (science talk) I was with the department chair (an old white guy who wished he was in Boston but found himself in Kansas City, poor baby!) and his junior (untenured) female faculty member. The tv playing at the bar near our table had the Clinton hearings on, which (I guess) prompted the old guy to launch into a 10 minute soliloquy about how great Clinton was (and how evil the Rs were). The junior faculty member (did I mention she was his young female subordinate?) was basically silent, I think she may have said one very mild/non-committal thing. I was stuffing bread into my face trying to keep from saying anything. Eventually, the old guy notices I'm being mute and says "You're being awfully quiet." Then and there I ask myself if I want this job - NO - and let him have it. I enjoy a good argument, but there's a time and a place and I don't enjoy being insulted right out of the gate.

Heh!  I love the bread stuffing strategy--I do that sometimes too, when I don't want to get into something when sharing a meal with libtards.  I know if I don't, I will say something that I won't necessarily regret, but I'll regret how I said it.

We must have been separated at birth.  That's my main worry, too.

I think the most ironic thing is that I could have sued this old white guy lib (I didn't get the job offer despite the fact that I was a postdoc with an NIH (R01) grant which, trust me, no one ever has).

I've found that the worst sexists I've dealt with have been liberals.

122 @119
I was in an interdisciplinary field, combination of biophysics and cell biology.  Fun stuff, but kind of a soul-sucking life.  Most of the faculty were miserable and I found I couldn't balance the undergraduate teaching (which I loved, but is really a lot of work) and research.

I switched fields to fundraising for the business school. That was great - the dean was very Type A so he was a perfect boss for me - but then we moved to California for my husband's job (after 20+ years of following me, it was his turn) and I landed in two dysfunctional institutions in quick succession.  And now the job market in higher ed has dried up.

I've thought about trying to break into grant-writing and higher ed programmatic consulting, but we're doing ok (not great) with a budget and, frankly, my ego has kind of taken a hit.  It's hard to go from being a semi-big-deal (albeit in a tiny esoteric corner of science) to a "house wife."  I'm like a non-person right now.  Fortunately, my husband is the best and he really does appreciate having me taking care of him.  His job is pretty stressful.

You are one smart cookie!  (Which has always been manifested in your smart, funny posts.)  Enjoy the time you have off from the professional world and academia (especially now with Odumbo in office).  I know you've been spending a lot of time and energy modifying you and your husband's diet and exercising, which is definitely time and effort well spent.

I greatly reduced my hours at work because we had a bunch of political crap (I don't respect or like my manager) and some other stuff.  It was hard at first because I had a lot of my identity tied up in being a nurse.  But I am enjoying not taking all the call, running more consistently, cooking a lot more (we hardly eat out any more), volunteering, and being more informed politically.  Yeah, there's not as much money to spend frivolously, but I'm a lot more happy and a lot less sleep deprived.  Plus, I discovered AoSHQ, so I can fritter away hours that I used to spend at work--heh!

It's nice to go to work and not be caught up in all the day to day drama, personnel issues (when you have mostly women working with other women, there's always some kind of freaking drama going on), and politics.  And it's because I'm not there every day.

Y-not, you truly are a kindred spirit.  (E

I'll find out next monday if I got into the nyc marathon via lottery...but I'm not holding my breath.     ITB was my first running injury.  I had to get orthotics (very flat feet) and run in stability shoes (I was running in cushioned).  I hope you are feeling better, but don't overdo it just cause you feel good.  Take the time to come back smartly.  I'm doing Ragnar Relay out here in July (WA state).  I did it last year, and the course was absolutely beautiful (mountains and the Puget Sound).  I hope you get in the NY Marathon.  It's a great race.  I ran it in 2005, qualified with an half marathon).  It was really hot and humid that year, got terrible blisters and bonked really badly at mile 16, but the course was really cool, running in every borough and every bridge in NYC.  There were a bunch of injured soldiers doing it with The Achilles Track Club, and I cried every time I saw one, and thanked them for their service.  The best part, though, was staying in NYC for the week after the race with my running partner and our spouses.  We had the best time (got to see Les Paul play, so that was cool too).

134 From the tanker story:

Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Wash.) confirmed that Northrop has said it will pull out of the tanker competition.

Dicks said he was briefed this afternoon by a Northrop official. He would not say who.

"They said they're not going to bid," Dicks said in a telephone interview. He said the company probably thought that the Air Force's requirements were in favor of a smaller plane, such as Boeing's 767 instead of the Airbus 330.

"I think they evaluated it and realized that it was not in their interest to go forward," Dicks said. "I feel like we can go forward now with greater transparency."

So... we can move forward with greater transparency  now that we're done making the sausage.  We're in the very best of hands.
