The Zero administration has decided to take over regulation of sport fishine in American waters.

"When the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) completed their successful campaign to convince the Ontario government to end one of the best scientifically managed big game hunts in North America (spring bear), the results of their agenda had severe economic impacts on small family businesses and the tourism economy of communities across northern and central Ontario," said Phil Morlock, director of environmental affairs for Shimano.

"Now we see NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the administration planning the future of recreational fishing access in America based on a similar agenda of these same groups and other Big Green anti-use organizations, through an Executive Order by the President. The current U.S. direction with fishing is a direct parallel to what happened in Canada with hunting: The negative economic impacts on hard working American families and small businesses are being ignored.

19 I've been noticing a pattern: tuesdays are usually when something happens to change the whole "theme" of the week. I'm worried that today's news will be "Bart Stupak has reached an agreement with Pelosi". I'm very worried this will happen. I don't think the dems can afford another day of news headlines like "Pelosi is having a hard time controlling fellow democrats" and I guess that's why I'm worried about something goin on today.

RINO Lindsey is at it again pushing amnesty this time with one of the worst asshole Dems in the Senate; Chuckie Cheesedick Shumer.

Short story from the WSJ via Fox:

ID Card for Workers at Center of Immigration Plan

Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.

It would not surprise me if we won back the Senate that this cockholster didnÂ’t change parties.  But in any case this story doesnÂ’t have ANY details, only about a new “smart” ID card that they have pushed since the 9-11 Commission Report that everyone said would not work because it wouldnÂ’t take more than a few weeks before they were counterfeited in mass quantities.

So they want to use this as an excuse to reopen amnesty. Another bait and switch scheme just like the last one with “unenforceable” penalties to make it look like they were finally going to do something.

Posted by: Vic at March 09, 2010 05:53 AM (QrA9E)

23 a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.

But if you want to vote, you can't be required to show any proof of ID/citizenship/residents, because that's racist/classist/etc.

There IS a limit to what the jugeared asshole can do via executive order and we don't need the spineless congress to real him in. What we need is a class action suit to issue a stay on this BS.

Sport fisshing is controlled by federal regulation inacted by congress AND the States, not by executive order.

After we take congress back we need to impeach him over this kind of shit and the illegal bribes he has been up to.

Posted by: Joffen at March 09, 2010 05:59 AM (0SaFG)

29 I agree, Joffen, it can't be good for Obama long-term.  I know pundits see this as a big loser with Hispanics, but amnesty is wildly unpopular and will do nothing more than raise the ire of the tea partiers even more, let alone the general public who probably know enough economics to know that it is a terrible idea when funemployment is near 10% and real funemployment is over 15.

Furthermore, this will drive down his Strong Approval ratings because amnesty isn't popular among African Americans, to put it mildly.

45 If the feds try to move in and start seizing boats and throwing people in jail it is going to be very, very ugly.

That is the biggest problem with the country right now.  We are at the leading edge of firming into an irresistible force/immovable object situation.

I could probably enumerate a couple dozen of if ______, then things are going to get very, very ugly examples.  Every one of these examples involves a showdown between overreach by the political class and resistance by the people.

The atmosphere is tense, and I think that is what has been setting off all the leftwing whackjobs of late.

I never pay much mind to opinion polls, but the most chilling number I have ever seen is that polled estimate that only one-in-five Americans think that the government is acting with the consent of the governed.

I'm reminded of the joke where the game warden goes out fishing with a local codger suspected of using dynamite instead of a rod and reel. Once they're out in the boat, the warden says, "You know why I'm out here, right?"

61 Two 16oz tumblers of hooch.

Speaking of tumblers, has anyone else tried those Tervis Tumblers?  I got one as swag from a tech vendor at a client site.  They look cheesy as hell (clear polycarbonate nested to form a double-wall with an air gap as in a cheap thermos bottle), but they insulate very well.   I bought a couple of twelve-ouncers at Bed Bath and Beyond and use it for MikeOldFashioneds (that's just like an Old-Fashioned but without water, sugar, cherry, or orange--basically about six ounces of rye or bourbon with a couple of drops of bitters shaken with ice and then strained into the tumbler).

I mixed one of these drinks one night last week, set it down, and then forgot about it.  After sipping bourbon from that morning's coffee cup (MikeOKahlua) for about an hour, I ran across that drink when going for a refill.  There was no condensation ring on the counter (naturally), and it was still ice cold!

The fastest way to make fish and game laws meaningless is to take them from the hands of game managers (who are trained in wildlife management) and politicize them. At that point, there will be no fish and game laws.

The international bird treaty was one of the first unconditutional power grabs by the feds there was. That was the case in which the idiots on SCOTUS ruled that a treaty had the same weight and authority as a Consitutional Amendment even though it did not have the same requirements as an amendment.

Thankfully subsequent courts have backed them off of that to a large extent. Treatiews now have to meet the same consitutional tests as other laws passed.

But isn't it IRONIC that the Gaia bastards are going after hunters and fishers. The hunters and fishers are the ones who have largely been responsible for preservation of the wildlife and the environment.  All these GAIA clowns are johnny come lately commies.

But, it WAS intentional. The design of the hunting and fishing laws was to preserve game and the environment.  The fees were also dewsigned for that purpose and had been used for that exclusively up until the last few decades when they became just another general revenue tax source.

85 I want Sabathia back in Milwaukee

I kind of want Sabathia back in Cleveland, kind of hate him for selling out. Yeah, I know, if you could get extra money, you'd take it, but fans aren't always practical. Anyway, he'll never make it back to Cleveland so it's a moot point.

Two 16oz tumblers of hooch.

That may not be enough

Slide by the local quickie-mart. I'm sure they've got a 48oz.er sitting around.

Tervis tumblers are good stuff.  I got some for Christmas a few years ago with jacket-patches for my college slipped inside the vacuum gap.

They could stand to be a little bigger (they will barely hold a 12oz can of soda, if you don't put too much ice in), but all in all they are great.  Seem pretty much indestructable; we use them when we're outside.

MMV on the knockoffs, but genuine Tervis ones are guaranteed for life.  If the seal ever breaks, they'll send you a replacement.  None of mine have broken yet, but the person who gave them to me as a gift had some 10-year-old ones replaced a while back.  Not bad.  If you've giving them out as a gift to customers / clients, odds are they will have a reminder of your company around for a very long time...

thatguy, was that supposed to be a reference to Emmett Otter?

Wow.  Childhood flashback.

94 Thanks, I try. Mom's still pissed about the washtub, but dammit, nobody is oiling snakes these days. if(typeof(dstb)!= "undefined"){ dstb();}
