Happy Thursday.

An egregious lie about Sen. McConnell and by implication the GOP made the rounds in the lefty media yesterday, which took all day to correct itself.

The Ready for Hillary super PAC has raised $5.75 million for the undeclared 2016 candidate.

AG Holder had a sad yesterday speaking to Al Sharpton's annual convention: "You look at the way the attorney general of the United States was treated yesterday by a House committee — has nothing to do with me, forget that. What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment? What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?"

The two doctors who received the largest Medicare reimbursements just happen to be large Democratic donors trying to defend themselves from charges that they made fraudulent Medicare claims. Our old pals Dr. Melgen and Sen. Menendez make appearances. Oh, and the only reason we know it is because the Wall Street Journal sued after HHS rejected its FOIA requests.

Much as it pains me to say it, I kind of agree with the guy. What other president and AG could have committed this many acts of treason and still hold office? They clearly are treated differently because of skin color.

21 TCM showed a real courtroom drama movie this morning.  It was called simply Trial.  Glenn Ford starred in it as a law professor who is conned into defending this Mexican teen boy who is accused of murdering a woman.  Turns out the people who hired him want the boy to be convicted and sentenced to death, since they are Communists at war with the American way of life.

Abbe who is the fellow traveler who falls for Glenn's character explained how she fell under the sway of Communism in college but got disillusioned because 'truth on Monday became a lie by Tuesday.'

At the end, after Glenn's character has been thrown off the defense team by the Communist who hired him but is making a case before the judge to save Angel from the death penalty, the Communist scum sucker of a layer calls the judge, who is black, an Uncle Tom.

The judge has the last word when he tells the Communist that he would like being a martyr if he was sentenced to a year in jail for contempt.  Since the man has tried to make the judge over-react by being provocative with the Uncle Tom call and other derogatory remarks.  Instead the judge sends him to county jail for 30 days on contempt.

And thus concludes today's lesson on how yesterday's Communists are today's Democrats.

KATY, TEXAS--A lawsuit filed by a Houston area doctor against the Affordable Care Act is moving forward to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.  The lawsuit filed by Dr. Steven Hotze, founder of Hotze Health and Wellness Center in Katy, challenges the Obamacare law based upon the origination clause of the Constitution.

In referring to what is known as The Origination Clause, “Article 1, section 7 of the U.S. Constitution every tax bill, revenue bill has to start in the House of Representatives,” Hotze explained. “It can’t start in the Senate.”

Proposal offers loans to undocumented students at California universities

CA Senate Bill 1210 would make available $9.2 million for University of California and California State University campuses to administer loans to undocumented students, who are ineligible for federal financial aid and most private loans.

California has already taken several steps over the past 13 years to make college available and more affordable for undocumented students. In 2001, the Legislature extended in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants who graduated from a California high school. Three years ago, it made them eligible to apply for Cal Grants.

UC President Janet Napolitano estimated there are 2,000 undocumented students in the UC system who could benefit from the loan program. It's also estimated the CSU system has about 6,300 undocumented students.

Well, it takes about ten seconds to find out that Finland also spends a whole lot LESS money on its education system than does the United States. About a third less.

But that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish.

They used to get that in Wisconsin.  Average compensation in Milwaukee when you include their freeeeeeeee (it really was, not a dime spent on their family's own premiums) health care was $100K.  Average household income in the city--the whole household! not just one adult!--was $33K. 

Dropout rate at the high school was around 50%, but at least the little kids got ten meals a week, if their grandmother got them up and brought them to school.

141 Bruce, Finland really does have a great school system, mostly because they are intelligent people with a functioning government and have been patiently working to improve the system for several decades. One of the really big changes was slashing budgets and decentralizing in the 1990s, when the Finnish economy tanked due to collapse of the Soviet export market. As a result they now have a lean, decentralized system, with most of the responsibility at the municipal level. Teachers have a great deal of autonomy and responsibility--administration is so lean that they help to administer the schools--but pay is just a bit less than in the U.S. A great source for learning about the Finnish system and the (ongoing) reform process that created it is the book Finnish Lessons, by Pasi Sahlberg. I'm personally done with delicacy.  My brain-to-mouth filter has been wearing out for years now, and I think I'm just done having it replaced. 

 

Finland is ethnically homogeneous.  They all speak the same language, share the same culture and have the same mores.  (Statistically, anyway). 

 

I would be perfectly willing to pay US teachers what Finnish teachers make, provided the tax rate for US teachers matches what Finnish teachers pay, and that classrooms mimic the homogeneous make-up of Finnish classrooms.

 

Until then, fuck off.  This is the United States of America.  We fought the British (twice) to NOT be European.  We saved Europe (twice) to - in part - preserve our right to be left the fuck alone and preserve the right of self-determination for other states.  Finland wants to asspound their citizens with taxes to pay their teachers a bazillion dollars?  Awesome.  Go team.

She was in pieces at 8400 ft. 129 men died with the Thresher. 108 crewmen (two Chief Petty Officers were brothers), 17 shipyard workers and 4 Navy observers. In the case of _Thresher_, what came out of it was SubSafe, the set of rigorous technical guidelines which since then have made it far less likely for Navy submariners to suffer similar fates.

The USN deep submergence community revisit both wrecks regularly to do radiological assays. There hasn't been any migration of reactor material outside the immediate vicinity of where the cores lie on the seabed.

There are also a shit-ton of old Soviet cores littering the bottom of the Barents.

Some of them not in subs. Old or damaged cores removed during port overhaul, taken out to sea and tipped over the side.

But even those haven't created a widespread contamination problem.

Billions of tax dollars are taken from us by a partisan IRS and redistributed to politicians and their cronies and endlessly recycled to ensure the same corrupt politicians stay in power, yet the incumbent re-election rate is phenomenally high when they should all be begging for alms on the streets of DC. The only political construct that looks like it has principles and understands the meaning of the Constitution is under continuous and unrelenting attack by the entire sleazy unprincipled political establishment (R & D) willing to use the ruthless force of an imperial government (IRS, NSA, DoJ, EPA, ATF, ICE, BLM...) as well. So all in all, I am not very optimistic about my future.

218 GGE, I am not seeing that Robert Alex Corchado, who police are looking for and have arrest warrants, has been caught yet.

He had help, one would think, after abandoning the SUV they were originally looking for....then renting black Mazda SUV. One commenter said the house where the car was abandoned was of, uh, not so great neighbors.

After spending 3 yrs in prison for selling cocaine and released in 2012... he was arrested last December for hit and run (!), possession of cocaine, heroin, and cannibis with intent to sell. Then posted bond and was not held. Nor was it mentioned if he had a driver's license to revoke. As recently as this month he was ticketed for "reckless' driving. A four year old girl is dead today due to the "laws" of Florida. It remains to be seen if he is a legal citizen or a "national" aka "illegal alien." With his long drug history I am thinking the latter. Bite moi.

So far, I have not found where he is from. Big surprise. A story today stated he is married. He has had a criminal record for 10 yrs and yet is still free to kill.

This was what, in an incoherent way, I was trying to reference yesterday when one commenter stated that he / she would stand fast.  If these BLM thugs have no fear that any armed civilians will come to the rescue of one family, how much fear do you think LEOs have about taking one to the head if they decide to confiscate guns?


We know where the governor is - cowering under his desk trying to change his sharted diaper.  So where is the militia?  Where are the neighbors?  Are they afraid, do they not care, or are they just shrugging their shoulders and saying, "eh, not the hill to die on?"

 

I wish I knew the answer.  And I wish I had a leader to follow.

The number that is important is how the total population has changed.

Animals move around all of the time. Toward prey and away from predators. That has nothing to do with man or cow. So a count in area "A" one year may be drastically different than the count in the same area in a different year, without representing any change in the total population.

They'll use that cherry-picked data as their excuse to deny the family their rights. I fear another Waco Event, and the governor, who should be on the ground there, is essentially useless. He'll talk a lot about rights and laws, but he won't do anything to defend them against this outlaw regime. I'd love to be a governor. There's something I used to laugh at...

 

In some gun owner circles, there's an article of faith that says if push comes to shove and the government goes Full Tyrant, the police and military will refuse to participate in the inevitable pogroms that would follow.

 

I would think about things like the police conduct in New Orleans following Katrina and chuckle.  I would think of a relative of mine, former Army officer, who in my living room was full bore in favor of door-to-door confiscations after Sandy Hook and shake my head.  Now I see what's going on with this rancher and am worried about such naivite. 

 

Yep, the assumption needs to be that those guys with guns are not going to err on the side of individual rights when push comes to shove.  There have been a number of opportunities to demonstrate otherwise, and I haven't seen anything to make me optimistic.

 

As for Sandoval, well, I guess that damages the idea that elected officials are going to do little to nothing to help other than issue soundbites.
