Re sidebar article from the WSJ: Astoundingly good and timely essay on Crony Capitalism and the damage it inflicts on us.

 

I hate the term “crony capitalism”.  It was invented by liberals in an attempt to smear capitalism in the same manner as their other favorite term to smear capitalism and forward communism; “the excesses of unfettered capitalism”.   The article even admits that the subject of the article (incompetent federal regulators) has nothing to do with capitalism because it contains this little gem:

 

We call that system not the free-market, but crony capitalism. It owes more to Benito Mussolini than to Adam Smith.

 

In other words, all of these regulations have nothing to do with capitalism and everything to do with fascism. And all should recall what fascism really is; just another way to implement communism. As per Jonah Goldberg’s book “Liberal Fascism”, fascism is a term invented by Mussolini and later differentiated by Stalin from communism AFTER the Nazis attacked Russia.

 

The only difference between fascism and communism is that while communist governments just take possession of everything and divide it up among the populous in a manner decided by the apparatchiks; the fascists  leave physical possession of the things with individuals but develop extensive rules and regulations that force the “owners” to  divide it up among the populous in a manner decided by the apparatchiks.

 

As you see, there is no difference in outcome. Our current government if mostly divided up between communism, socialism, and fascism.  There is very little actual capitalism left.

As Frederick Bastiat explained in his treatise, The Law, the overall purpose of government (and laws) is to make it more costly and painful for the leaches of society to plunder the lives and possessions of others rather than produce for themselves those same things.  When the government actually joins the side of of the plunderers and makes it easier to plunder the lives and possessions of others they have set government in opposition to why it was originally created.  Such a government can not stand. We have long been at this point. My theory is that the shift to this kind of government started shortly after the Constitution was ratified and the “right” to vote was diluted by eliminating the requirement for property ownership for voters (recall at the time that property taxes and excise taxes were the chief means of financing government). If we are ever going to get capitalism back on track we are going to have to reinstate those requirements.  Too bad that it is unlikely because only 40% of the population now pay taxes. It just sucks to be part of that 40% who are supporting the other 60%. So bottom line for the Morons at AOS; donÂ’t use the liberal term “crony capitalism”.  Call it what it really is; fascism or communism, dependent on where they draw the line on ownership.

7 And speaking of the actions of the “regulators” who failed so miserably in oversight role how about this headline from Politico via a banner headline/link from Drudge: GOP seeks SEC records on Goldman

Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House Oversight committee, is demanding a slew of documents from the Securities and Exchange Commission, asserting that the timing of civil charges against Goldman Sachs raises “serious questions about the commission’s independence and impartiality.”

Of course this action against Goldman is politically motivated. I predict that IF it ever goes to trial it will all be dismissed. Of course, that doesnÂ’t prevent the SEC from levying a civil penalty and Goldman swallowing it and thus forcing their investors to pay for it.

 

All of this to keep the public from investigating what really caused all the financial mess. I still do not understand why the Republicans are not harping daily on Bwarney Fwank, Piss Dodd, and the entire CRA mess. I guess the RINO collection of McCain and co. are still in charge of the Republican Party strategy.

Iran is increasing its paramilitary Qods force operatives in Venezuela while covertly continuing supplies of weapons and explosives to Taliban and other insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to the Pentagon's first report to Congress on Tehran's military.

Border security is important, Gramnasty.  Not just for illegal immigration (and stopping that isn't "racist").  I can only imagine what sundry groups like Hezbollah and Qods Force might be able to get through the Southern border.

In the end, there will be only chaos.

TALLAHASSEE -- Gov. Charlie Crist's campaign website no longer carries any reference to the Republican Party, and that's cost him the support of an old friend and Southwest Florida fundraiser in the U.S. Senate race.

State Rep. Tom Grady, R-Naples, wrote Crist a letter resigning from Crist's statewide finance team and as regional chairman of the campaign. Grady called Crist a mentor, saying the governor had encouraged him to run for the House in 2008, but he said the governor's recent actions show that they don't share some of the conservative principles that brought Grady into state politics.

However, the Rs keep harping on the 50B bailout and not the fact that it doesn't address the real cause. So I am seeing that they will cave in if the 50B is removed.

Neil Barofsky, the special inspector general over the $700 billion financial rescue package, said the foreclosure crisis has worsened since the administration announced new efforts a year ago to shore up the housing market. Barofsky said the 230,000 permanent loan modifications under the program represent only roughly 8 percent of all foreclosures in 2009.

The administration program, "risks being remembered not for catalyzing a recovery from our current housing crisis, but rather for bold announcements, modest goals, and meager results," the report said.

Barofsky said the White House should consider making principal reductions mandatory rather than voluntary.

Michelle Malkin is a purist.  I dislike it when she hammers 'Pubs since the media already takes that task well in hand.  On the other hand, her investigations clarify who gets my money and who doesn't.

Another thing, one of my guys indicated this morning that the U. S. is the only nation working in Haiti today that is not flying it's national flag.  We don't want to look like an occupying force.  What an utterly puerile approach.  Flying Old Glory ensures that we get the credit that is due from the people of Haiti as well as the other organizations and countries still providing aid.
