Judgment at Nuremburg and A Star Is Born, both of which she was nominated for an Oscar. And though they weren't what we think of as "hits," the movies she made with Mickey Rooney were very finanically successful for MGM.
As far as whether Mayer was "right" - with Durbin, he would have had an actress who was without any personal problems or illicit habits, but one who was very strong-willed. Mayer was able to mold Garland, which I don't think he could have with Durbin. It's hard to judge, since the two were such dramatically different personalities, but I think on the whole, Durbin might have been the better choice.

Go figure. Then of course, we have the new Census move that totally changes the way the CB conducts their healthcare survey, by changing the criteria used to count someone as insured. This will make all previous results noncomparable. Convenient, no? Especially with OCare in its first year of real implementation.
The future's so bright, I gotta wear hip high wader boots.

Honest answer is, it's used in treatment for people with PTSD, alcohol abuse, etc.
The theory is, if you understand your triggers, the things that cause you to react, and do things you otherwise don't want to do, you can learn avoid them. Or not let them trigger you.
I think it's a valid concept for conditions like PTSD, but it should be very temporary. The extent to which it is not temporary would be the scope of one's illness.
As for alcoholics, yeah, I think it's more of an excuse. My wife called me a good-for-nothing bum, so I went out and got drunk. Dude, this is one of those chicken and egg things, and you may be on the wrong side of the yolk.

You're getting close to the truth here.
Everything every political hack -- actual elected "servant of the people" or self-appointed "expert" teat-sucker like Beckel, Rove, Teh Noot, etc. -- does is for agenda-enhancement. Doesn't matter which party they claim to belong to.
And the agenda is exactly the same: keep power concentrated among those who currently wield it.
Nothing else matters to the gold-plated welfare cases of D.C. Any apparent differences in ideology serve only to distract the peons while the royalty rake it in.
It has to be a compelling scenario. Look at pathetic hacks like Scott Brown, wandering from here to there begging to be allowed into The Inner Circle.

Why would a small State effectively disenfranchise itself by abolishing the Electoral College?
-------
When the small state is Maryland, Rhode Island, Delaware, etc...why would they give a shit if the "disenfranchisement" results in the perpetual election of the Liberal Left?

I would think there are a large number of big city occupants of so-called "swing states" who see themselves as being disenfranchised by the down-state yokels who sometime manage to cancel out their votes.
This way they could be free of the yokels, and proudly vote for the next lesbian conjoined twin performance artist who wins the Dem nomination, and feel like they're part of history, rather than sideline spectators to it.

The government shutdown shortened your season. Are you political at all? Does that sort of thing make you want to be political?
I think I stuck my neck out enough. If you get into politics, you might as well put a gun to my head. You really put your neck out when you get political. I appreciate the fact that Keith [Colburn, captain of the Wizard] has always been political. We have spokespersons for our industry, and I was the head of the board for the Alaska Crab Coalition. It takes a lot of work; it takes everything out of you. And now with this TV thing always on my heels, you don't even have time to sneeze anymore. But Keith did a great job when he spoke for us, and it's right down his alley. For me personally, I'd rather just stay out of politics.

Gregg also allowed himself to be used for a brief time as the Commerce Secretary nominee, before withdrawing as he realized what was up. So he wasn't exactly covered in glory there either.
This was before TFG figured out he didn't even need a figleaf of Republican cooperation to do whatever he wants.

No, the trigger was his hearing "Pop Goes the Weasel," and then crying, "Moe, Larry, the cheese!"
He boxed under the name "Kid Stradivarius."

The man on her show said that with those 11 states who have already "signed on," they already have 165. Only 105 to go. He also said it would face tough, Constitutional challenges. But as we all know, all it takes is one more radical leftist on the Court. Don't tell me the progressives aren't in this for the long haul. They will sell this as "every vote counts" and that the only way to get that is through popular vote. We're such a shockingly ignorant country now, it may be an easy sell with the full bore freight train messaging that will come from the MFM.

"A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don't think they've got enough experience yet," Dole said.
Dole said Cruz is "way out there" on the extremes of the party and defended his own record.

Regarding how an individual State apportions their own Electoral College votes, a shit I do not give. The votes belong to the individual States, per the Constitution. Let Maryland apportion according to the lunar charts if they wish.

As I stated in my State of the City Address earlier this month, the Houston I know does not discriminate, treats everyone equally and allows full participation by everyone in civic and business life,” Parker said. “We don’t care where you come from, the color of your skin, your age, gender, what physical limitations you may have or who you choose to love. It’s time the laws on our books reflect this.
In other words: we don't have a problem - so its time I created one.

In other tolerance news:
The Twilight Room Annex will close for good tonight, owner Chris Penner said, after his bank accounts were seized in connection with an Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries judgment.
The bureau ordered Penner last August to pay $400,000 to a group of transgender and crossdressing people whom Penner asked not to return to his bar. Penner appealed the bureauÂ’s judgment, but the Oregon Court of Appeals has not yet reviewed his case.
The case centers around a voicemail Penner left in 2012 for a member of the Rose City T-Girls. The group had frequented the North Lombard Street bar every Friday night for two years. They brought anywhere from a dozen to 40 people -- some who crossdress, others who have fully transitioned to female -- into the cavernous club each week. But their presence drove other customers away, Penner said.
The bureau's civil rights division began investigating The Twilight Room Annex, formerly known as The P Club, in 2012. The penalty was the first imposed under the 2007 Oregon Equality Act.

Drain 38 million gallons just because I feel my customers might not like that oh 1 part per 1 trillion...
Lets ignore the cost of treating another 38 million gallons because Portland is not like the arid Southwest or the fact that Portland's wildlife is already using the reservoir as a waste dump.
*pauses* Has anyone asked Portland for the environmental impact downstream of them releasing so much water in such a short time span? Would this release oh trigger any flash floods or mudslides?

When I was a kid, we lived on a 100 year old farm with, of course, no city water. We had a well and had a "water man" bring a load of water every 1-2 weeks. One day when water was very low, the water man came and lifted the lid off the well and there was a dead rat floating on the water that was left. Mind you, I was all of about 14 and was so thoroughly grossed out that I had been drinking, brushing my teeth and bathing in water that had washed over a dead rat's body. I'm still dealing with the trauma.

Right because if there is one thing the current GOP coalition has shown it's the ability to keep normalcy and not allow the lunatic left free reign...
look I get it, I am to shut the fuck up hand over 1500-15,000 bucks depending on what Kool Rove and the Gang think my tithe should be and MAYBE if I am REALLY lucky they can be assed to uh what exactly?
I mean seriously what the fuck good has the GOP been in the last ten years?
"Not Democrat" is not enough because while the GOP was busy telling everything to the right of Juan McQueeg to go fuck itself the left was building a bomb....
I can't be bothered to be bothered to aid politicians who aren't bothered by SCOAMFCare or Amigo Grande!
See you in November.

I would really like to ask them how they would feel if one of their "Maybe" releases went on a killing spree like that pair who did a home burglary, took the married couple and their two daughters captive, brutalized them, killed them, and burnt the house down. You know the two who had met in a halfway house.
But I am sure in their self assurance they are doing right and patting themselves on the back they will say the system will still prevent such form happening.

There was also a bit where Curly became an unbeatable boxer if Larry played 'Pop goes The Weasel' on his violin. This became a gameplay sequence in the Three Stooges game I worked on for several platforms back in the 80s.

A true lady. I don't know of anyone who didn't like her. And I only know two slightly off-color stories about her - the time (according to William Holden) she went to bed with the French actress Capucine and her wild affair with Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday.
