April 8 (Bloomberg) -- More Americans unexpectedly filed initial claims for jobless benefits last week, in part reflecting difficulty in seasonally adjusting the data ahead of the Easter holiday.
Initial jobless applications increased by 18,000 to 460,000 in the week ended April 3, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. The week leading up to Easter and the two weeks that follow are traditionally a “volatile time” for claims, a Labor Department analyst said, making it difficult to discern the underlying trend in applications.
This is truly unexpected.

Here's a couple of thoughts:
1) Forget about counting the Illegals, ship them home instead
2) Only ask the questions you're legally allowed to ask!

Awww, the Census Bureau is all worried that they won't get an accurate count the count they wanted.

1) Without looking at the News, were jobless claims:
a) Catastrophically higher than expected
b) Radiantly lower than expected
c) Mordantly in line with economists' expectations
d) Docilely trenchant
e) All of the Above

I can understand why censuses will only get harder in the future. Bigger populations, inefficient immigrations rules, and identity theft.
I don't think identity theft was a big issue in the 1790 census or even the 1980 census. I am not even comfortable giving out my name and birthdate to the government, because god knows they don't protect information very well.
Just wait until the next census and the one after that, or even worse wait until they do one online, it will be rampant with fraud.

The IRS already has my name and birthdate. It can't possibly be cheaper to send sixteen "dear occupant" mailings to get that information than to make a phone call and ask the IRS to do an SQL search.

Also said the prez flew to Czechoslovakia last night to sign some treaty with the Russians.
Why doesn't anyone come to us anymore.
Also, NASA is paying a ridiculous amount of money per astronaut to hitch a ride of Russian capsules. The reporter said ti was because the Russians had to make more capsules to accommodate the demand. My question is if we are spending all that money, how come we just didn't make a new space shuttle?

You know, I made a couple of comments about Tom Coburn previously that I would like to clarify. I called him a jackass if memory serves, for his comments praising Bela Pelosi. So there is no misunderstanding, Tom Coburn is still a jackass precisely for those comments. Nice people do not want socialism and ruin foisted on this country that was until a few short months ago, the beacon of freedom to the world. He is a jackass by virtue of the fact that by praising the shithead speaker, he absolves her of all of the vicious attacks that she heaped on Bush.
She is not a nice person by any stretch of the imagination and he is a jackass for saying so. The people who are demeaning those who cite the fact that he is a jackass are jackasses themselves.
Fortunately for jackasses, their condition is treatable. They do not have to live perpetually as jackasses. They can look inward on their jackassedness and rip it out and shift the direction of this country back toward freedom and away from the slavery of socialism and f--king entitlement.
You are now free to resume the remainder of you socialist existence - brought to you inpart, by the jackasses of the Republican party.

Maybe, not sure since I was distracted by the airline incident last night so wasn't able to read anything about it until I heard he was "in the air". But, doesn't congress have to accept and approve any treaty he signs on behalf of the American people? So, not to worry, right?

Heh, that's funny. From the article:
Embattled state Rep. Kerry Burt dropped his re-election plans Wednesday as prosecutors announced charges against the Waterloo Democrat and eight other people who allegedly gave false addresses to avoid paying full tuition at a state-run teacher training school.
So the guy is committing fraud by trying to get cheaper tuition for himself. The funny part is if you go to his website, he lists his legislative priorities as:
My priorities this year also include balancing the budget, quality education and creating good jobs.
Now we know why he wanted "quality education" - so he could scam the taxpayers in getting some of it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the the mullahs say that you forfeit some virgins when you accidently blow yourself up? And don't they also say the in the place of virgins, all you get are old, wrinkly puss buckets if you blow yourself up without taking any infidels with you?

The United States was once a nation of proudly independent people. But now Americans in large numbers think they deserve free access to the Web, no-cost college educations, and jobs they don't deserve and can't be fired from. They believe others should be responsible for their mortgages and feel they have a right to early, cushy retirements at someone else's expense.
This unsustainable condition is perpetuated by a federal tax code that is forcing a shrinking number of taxpayers to fund the government while removing a growing number of Americans from the income tax rolls.

Good on Lt. Gov. Kinder. Dems. Gov. Nixon and A.G. Kostner can go get stuffed, at least somebody is listening to their bosses.
Anybody who thinks that this health care bill is good for America either hasn't bothered to see past their own selfish, "FREE STUFF! GIMME SOME!" attitude or is being willingly obtuse about it. Somebody has to pay for it and it ain't gonna be the almost 50% of the country who have no tax liability.
Part of the bill will be laid at the feet of those who will have their Social Security and Medicare cut, and part will come from those who bust their humps to earn a living just to see some of it forcibly taken away to given to the "GIMMIE's".
But the best part will be when they institute the VAT, or Value Added Tax to make up the trillions of dollars this sham will cost. Because then even the "GIMMIE's" will have to pay their share everytime they buy ANYTHING!! Then the howling will ensue.
And that howling will be music to the ears of everyone tired of seeing their hard earned money being pissed away on "Feel Good" B.S. social programs and it will be the silver lining to the cloud.

Anyone see how Allahpunditinmyass (I stole that from some commenter) is arguing about how The Precedent's nuke treaty is a good thing? What a stupid twerp that guy is ... both of them, Allah and his buddy, and the guy he believes to be super-smart, the Indonesian Imbecile.
Allah's latest silly comment:
"Yes, ObamaÂ’s assumption that this will somehow deter other nations is juvenile, but like Liam said earlier in the thread, as long as we have enough warheads to threaten other nations with total destruction, symbolic little cuts like this are a non-issue. Again, given jihadistsÂ’ aspirations to get the bomb, the fewer nukes there are in play around the world, the better.
Allahpunditinmyass on April 8, 2010 at 1:01pm"
So ... it's really an anti-jihadi treaty ... What a frickin clown.
Apologies for having put this in the unemployment thread ... though it might have been a subconsious desire on my part to connect unemployment and allah.

Do you want to know how to lose weight safely? I understand the way you feel. I weighed around 250 pounds and had a huge 40 inch waistline. But I have a secret for you. I managed to lose weight and so can you. Here is a fact: Almost 90% of the people who try to lose weight fail and give up. Only a few who try really succeed. Most of those who fail are completely clueless and those who lose successfully take time to acquire the necessary knowledge to get results fast. This fact can be used to our advantage. I'm about to reveal four easy ways to lose weight that I used to lose weight safely...
