Interesting observation:
After watching that Horowitz vid yesterday it occurred to me that muslims are big supporters of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.
Don't ask them if they support terrorism...and they won't tell you!
Just like Kagan, the ardent critic of DADT. Don't ask her if she's a homosexual, and she won't tell you.

Breaking evil Jooo news:
Seinfeld joins country celebs in aiding Nashville Published: 5/13/10, 8:25 AM EDT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Jerry Seinfeld isn't kidding - he's going to donate all the proceeds from one of his Nashville shows to help flood victims in the city and throughout Tennessee.
The proceeds from Friday's show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, just a few blocks from the scene of widespread flood damage, will be split between the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Russia warns U.S. against unilateral Iran sanctions
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned the United States and other Western nations on Thursday against imposing unilateral sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, Interfax news agency reported.
Sanctions won't work now, it's way too late for that.

Obama is expected to stop in Buffalo this morning at a factory to talk about the economy, according to the report. He will then travel to NYPD headquarters to speak to officers involved in the Time Square bomb plot investigation that led to the arrest of Faisal Shahzad.
He is also scheduled to be in the city later this evening for a Democratic fundraiser at the St. Regis Hotel, the report said.

WASHINGTON – The Gulf of Mexico oil spill hasn't stained President Barack Obama nor dimmed the public's desire for offshore energy drilling, according to a new Associated Press-GfK Poll.
The poll found that 42 percent approve of Obama's actions, 33 percent disapprove and 21 percent say they have neutral feelings about his response.
Barry has done a great job on the oil spill. Look at those overwhelming numbers in support of him. AP of course spends most of the article bashing Bush over Katrina. I wonder why the haven't conducted a poll over Barry's handling of the flooding in Tennessee?

Pres Lightworker, Himself, is comin' to town today. Should be good for screwing up traffic 'round here in the afternoon.
I heard the CBS guy who covers the White House on the radio this morning, and it was kind of amusing. When the subject came up, he was CLEARLY purturbed when he said, "Oh, there won't be any questions [by the media]..."
He also found the "ice cold" relationship between our governor and His Highness to be pretty interesting. IIRC, the White House didn't even give a courtesy notice to the effect of "Hey, Gov, just wanted to let you know I'll be in your state next week," much less invite him down to say "hello". And they're in the same party.
I did hear, however, that our two local Democratic congresscritters will attend this closed door meeting, which is at some local small business, and which will last only an hour or two (costing the taxpayers millions, no doubt). I guess they feel pretty comfortable, in their very blue districts.

The Chief Executive has announced he is having federal agencies scrap Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities tests in hiring decision. Instead, resumes will be given more credence. Here is why this is potentially a bad idea, for it allows one to wonder this:
If resumes are given more credence, and thus hiring managers are able to essentially have great flexibility, then the potential exists for abuse, as well as institutionalized bias over time. My concern is that conservatives will seen themselves increasingly frozen out, for two reasons. One, a lot of discrimination can occur in hiring by resumes that cannot be done by objective KSA tests, and unfortunately the government, especially the administrative portions (but not the military) is weighted towards personnel with liberal leanings. It is my belief that discrimination against veterans already occurs, so I think this would get even worse if more subjective control was given to hiring managers, who would be able to easily say that veteran's service as on a resume did not fit the requirements of the position, and not take into account the discipline, flexibility, leadership, and other intangibles learned via that service.
The second concern is that an insularity will result in makeup of those selected, as basically you will need a "bachelor/master's of fill in the blank" to have any chance of being selected. This will put the true power of training and setting standards for government workers in academia, and in that case, beyond the group think problem, conservatives and veterans are obviously going to have a problem here, and will probably self-select out, instead of going through that routine.
This then poses the problems of government functionaries increasingly isolated and clannish, out of touch with the populace it would serve all the while demanding increasing benefits and/or full payments of agreed-upon benefits--even in an atmosphere of either economic stagnation or economic disaster--while being very active politically via their union representation. This is not a long term solution for national unity.
Getting rid of the KSA requirements may have valid reasons, but I believe it is fraught with peril for both selected groups and for the ability of the civil service to maintain the respect of the public, and thus I think the Congress should at some point stop this practice if it begins, either by law or the power of the purse.

Like the "Party of No," the idea of "anti-incumbent" sentiment ignores that voters are standing for something as much as they are against something when they express an opinion.
Yes! Isn't that annoying?
Reminds me of something I saw recently that was going on and on about how this one school was soooo successful because of autonomy. The principal had autonomy from the district and the teachers had autonomy from the principal and that's what led to the greatness.
I kept thinking that the real problem was the policies the district used and that it was using better methods/policies that was helping, not autonomy in and of itself.
Politics would be fine if it weren't for those anti-incumbent and autonomous meddling kids...

Not quite all resumes, and definitely not at higher levels.
But at certain levels, yes--and precisely my point. The breaker--the thing that gets you hired--will be that trendy degree from Mediocre U, the same one the hiring official has, and one that on the face of it one could not quibble with.
The problem being, many of those programs being what they are, that degree may actually just be an extended foray into various talking points of the left, and soon we will have a government bureaucracy resembling even more the education establishment.

Ed Morrissey on Governor Palin's speech in Chicago last night:
Palin spoke for about 50 minutes to a highly enthusiastic crowd of more than 4500 conservatives, offering a range of subjects but delivering a single message: get involved.
Palin encouraged her audience to learn that reform is possible from the grassroots efforts of her own political career, starting off as a concerned mom on the school board... She talked about the need to find and support conservative candidates...
I think it is Palin's most powerful role, encouraging people to step up and get involved, showing a wonderful example to girls and young women. It's the Greg Mortenson approach to conversative missionary work - target the young females to change a culture.
I've been thinking a lot about the next generation, the kinds of things they're learning in school from their repeated indoctrination of leftist thoughts. I think conservatives need to do more outreach to illuminate and educate. Beck has been good at this, but there is a lot of work to do that will take years of consistent effort. To that end, yesterday I sent out an email about the financial crisis we're in to some nieces, nephews, and kids of friends I'm close to. I figure I gotta do my part.

AS IF it's beyond Hawaiian employee tech savvy to simply negate what equates to "spam" -- repetitive requests from the same address -- that a generalized law need be passed to order state employees to ignore legal requests.

The company I used to work for hired a black girl with a "6 year Engineering degree". They paid her a huge hiring bonus. Her first job was supposed to be working with me for calculating setpoints. This was a simple function that involved a square root of sum of the square of the various error functions in the measurement devices. She could not seem to get the theory and do it even after they brought in a senior Engineer from corporate to train her.
After a few months they took her off of that project and sent her to SRO school. (a path out of Engineering and in to Operations). After her first few weeks she maintained about a 40 average on weekly tests. They assigned a former SRO to assist her. Still after a few weeks she could not pass any of the weekly tests and they were still in the theory stage which supposedly she had already had in college.
Someone finally got wise and did some research like calling the college she had listed for her masters on her resume. At first her attitude was "how dare you check up on me". Of course she played the racism card. When she was ordered to produce transcripts she disappeared never to be heard from again.
Her entire resume was fiction. The company now has wised up. They check before hiring.

Ed Morrissey on Governor Palin's speech in Chicago last night:
Palin also verbally bitch slapped the idiot Highland Park Il administrator who is refusing to let the school's girl's basketball team go to Arizona. The team made the playoffs for the first time in over 20 years, had bake sales to raise money for the trip but Susan Hebson won't let them go because going to Arizona, "would not be aligned with our beliefs and values." And the team would harrassed by police. Of course the police in Arizona have nothing else better to do but harrass a high school basketball team.
Highland Park is a typical wealthy, mostly white, lefty suburb. The parents, who all opposed the evil Arizona law, demand their daughters be allowed to go. Because like all liberals they are for liberal causes as long as they don't actually affect them

Palin also verbally bitch slapped the idiot Highland Park Il administrator who is refusing to let the school's girl's basketball team go to Arizona.
Exactly. Here's some gems on that from HillBuzz, via C4P. Again, I love her leadership and encouragement:
Palin illustrates in her speeches how revelatory simplicity can be, and how much power an ordinary woman or man yields when they just canÂ’t take it anymore, when they stand up to be heard, and they challenge the Left at every turnÂ…
“Go rogue, girls, go rogue,” Palin urged the students, telling them to find any way they could to go west to Arizona, on their own pioneer steam, to claim the berth in the championship their hard work earned them. “Speak up. Shout bullies down. Do not let them cower you.”
Sarah PalinÂ’s one mom, with more firepower than the lot of them. Her motto, as reiterated time and again in all of her speeches, is that thereÂ’s no retreat, everÂ…just reloading. Her dad taught her that years ago, and sheÂ’s been teaching it to everyone who got on her bad side ever since.

A school official tells the Tribune that going to Arizona now -- after that state passed a harsh anti-immigration law -- "would not be aligned with our beliefs and values."
Today after quite a stink as been raised they say this:
This decision is not a political statement regarding the State of ArizonaÂ’s recently enacted legislation regarding immigration.
They're so full of shit they should work for Barry's administration

It's a communist government. I'm sure Ms. Hebson is a big fan of Chairman Mao.

Sarah 84, a better reason presents itself.
Any government would prefer the hires to be competent, but ultimately loyalty to the government's ideal is tantamount. Our government has chosen a universalist ideology, and that means it needs hires with a common cause against the national majority.
It's like why Lenin's cadres in 1918 were more Latvian and (secular) Jewish than Russian (or conservative Jewish); and why the 'Abbasids ended up ruling through slave-soldiers and Turks. The Communists and Muslims deliberately avoided a Russian or Arab government (respectively).

I lived for decades under a KSA regime (and a previous acronym, for 'situation/task/action/result'). When introduced, it was hailed as corruption-proofing for the previous, more-or-less informal resume and interview, which had been pretty damn ethnic and overwhelmingly political. When hiring was still approved at the local level, you could read over the seniority list of bargaining-unit employee names and tell the community affiliation of the highest-ranking local executive -- and that was with a civil service test and veteran points.
It only took a year or so for the diversity brigades to put the fix in on KSA. There was no rule against choosing certain parties for developmental assignments, ticket-punch short-term bids, special training, coaching on the questionnaire and interview process. In fact, it was encouraged, and trained members of selection committees, yrs trly, were advised to give extra-full weight to such citations. It was hard to get the best candidates into the package for the selecting official. Sometimes it was just as hard to guess, from the key words, who the anointed candidate was meant to be. I hated it.
Any system can be gamed, especially if it's gamed from above, or in accordance with a widely-accepted "ethical standard," like "making up for past injustice." This obvious lurch to a clearly even-more-gameable system just doesn't make sense: it's like the administration is trying to pick a fight.
That's the explanation I'm going with: another deal of the race card. Oppose it at your peril.
