Arlen Specter was on local radio this a.m. drumming up last minute support.
He barnstormed the state yesterday, don't know if his efforts will pay off. Since it's a Dem primary I can't really put myself in their minds to see who they'll go for, but I suspect it will be Sestak, the machine's endorsement of Specter notwithstanding.

i honestly think Specter will win. After he beat Toomey in 2004, I think the man finds a way to win this primary. However, I think he will get destroyed in teh general election.
keep in mind philly is massively corrupt, and if the establishment there wants arlen, arlen will get most of the philly votes

When ObamaCare fails, the dems will just force the tax payers to pony up more tax dollars in order to prop it up. Eventually, it will fail (that's the plan) and the only salvation will be a100% government run "single-payer" system.
All hail the dictator.

I'm divided on this Specter thing. Since Obama supported him, his demise would reflect badly on the admin. He would have more power and influence to beat Toomy. However, the concensus is that Sestak would poll better against Toomy. It's hard to call.
no way specter beats toomey. no freaking way.
also, what would look worse for the obama admin? Specter losing now and Sestak potentially keeping the Senate seat democrat come fall or Specter winning now and losing the senate seat in the fall?
Keep in mind, Sestak is more liberal than arlen by a lot.

I'm wondering if this revelation about Chicken Dick Blumenthal will prod the delegates in the State Convention to at least give his opponent, Merrick Alpert, the chance to speak.
The guy went head to head with Chicken Dick and pretty much handed him his ass in the one debate they had. The Blumenthal campaign and the CT Dems have since pretended that Alpert doesn't exist.
This story has legs on the national level and I have a hard time believing that this doesn't put his campaign in serious jeopardy.
BTW, Kay in Maine (or a very convincing sockpuppet) weighed in on last evening's Blumenthal post with the following:

I would just like to point out, for those of you who don't know, that Neal Boortz is whiny little sissy boy.
Over at his site today he has a post about some overachieving illegal immigrant and he says it's a toughie regarding what's to be done about her.
Someone please tell me: why is this tough? Her parents brought her, so it was her parents who placed her in the position of facing eventual consequences. Why should the rest of the US feel badly for something her parents have done to her? Just like every other illegal immigrant, she needs to go back to her own country. It shouldn't matter a single bit that she hadn't gotten caught prior to all of her good grades. She's caught now, so send her packing.
Maybe if Mexico kept the smart people, they'd figure out how to solve their problems so their citizens would want to actually stay.
Boortz gets all preachy and know-it-all about so many topics, but when push comes to shove and he actually has to look at the "down side" to his positions, he caves like a Carlsbad spelunker. Nut up or shut up, Neal.
Incidentally, I placed this post here because I they have post screeners over at Boortz's site and there have been times they have neglected to permit my opinion. Whiny Little Sissy Boy likely could not handle it.

I understand the concensus is that Specter needs to lose now. It would also feel good because he committed party treason in order to not be beaten in the repub primary so getting beaten in the dem primary after having to suck Obama dick would be divine justice.
The only thing that worries me is that moderates, imbeciles, squishies, and other butt heads have short memories because they have the brains or the consciences of beagle puppies. I just hope the anger stays high for the fall. I also don't trust that ACORN redux 2 isn't on the move.

Posted by: torabora at May 18, 2010 05:51 AM (Lt+t9)
Female thankfully.
Eight-term Rep. Mark Souder will announce his resignation Tuesday after it came to light that he was conducting an affair with a female staffer who worked in his district office, Fox News has learned.
Multiple senior House sources indicated that the extent of the affair would have landed Souder before the House Ethics Committee.
Elected as a family values conservative as part of the Republican revolution in 1994, Souder survived a tough re-election challenge in 2008 and survived a contested primary two weeks ago.
Extent of the affair? What does that mean?

Jefferson County geometry teacher uses wrong example to teach angles --- assassination of President Barack Obama
A Jefferson County teacher picked the wrong example when he used asÂsassinating President BarÂack Obama as a way to teach angles to his geomeÂtry students. Someone alerted authoÂrities and the Corner High School math teacher was questioned by the Secret Service, but was not taken into custody or charged with any crime. "We did not find a credible threat," said Roy SexÂton, special agent in charge of Birmingham's Secret Service office. "As far as the Secret Service is concerned, we looked into it, we talked to the gentleman and we have closed our investigation."
Lucky for him that he won't be charged, but srsly, what was he thinking?!?!

I disagree. Sestak is a hard-core Pelosi liberal, far more liberal than most of PA. Too many moderates and independents are pissed about the bailouts and obamacare to vote for him. Add any efforts to pass cap & tax and amnesty between now and November and Sestak is doomed.I just voted for Sestak because Specter has to put down ASAP. On the plus side, if Sestak wins it's egg on both Obama's and Rendell's faces. They'll both look like idiots and their endorsements will be much weaker in November.

Assad: Peres offered us 'Golan for Iran'
At least there's this caveat. Officials at the President's Residence said the report was false and reiterated Peres's message, according to which Israel is interested in a peace agreement with Syria rather than in a military conflict. They clarified that Peres told Medvedev that five Israeli prime ministers were willing to make far-reaching moves for peace, but that the Syrians were the ones who rejected these moves."Israel will not allow Syria to have its cake and eat it too, by on one hand demanding withdrawal from the Golan Heights and on the other planting Iranian missiles on the northern hills and continuing its support for terror groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas," a statement from the residence said.

And republicans were pissed off as hell at him for endorsing Specter. This time around I think the uber-conservative Republicans who stayed home or otherwise didn't vote for Santorum will hold their nose and vote for Toomey. We have the big mo this year, sort of like the Dems did in 2006.

there are a lot of PA morons here. unfortunately i seem to be the only Western Pa one.

Hey, Ben, I'm a former Western PA Moron (Fayettenam). When I called my mom last night and asked if she and my dad were going to be at the polls at 7 a.m. (they're up with the chickens), she said, "Nah. Nobody I know is voting. They're all a bunch of crooks. It doesn't do any good anyway." She added that all of her church buddies were saying the same thing.
This is staggering. My parents are staunch conservatives but changed their registration to dem last year (long story). I said, "That's fine. Go and vote for Snarlin' Arlin' so he can get beat in a big way by Pat Toomey in the fall. They weren't convinced it was worth the effort. What's even more infuriating is that they can't vote for Burns since they're registered dem.
SO frustrating.

Yes they can vote for Burns, he's not in a primary, he's in a special election to replace the traitor Murtha.
Call them back!!!

Dammit. Anyway, anyone Wee Wee endorses needs to lose. Sorry, that's just the way it's got to be.

EXCELLENT
You never know, stranger things have happened. I never actually considered the longterm ramifications of a vindictive, thoroughly agitated Arlen Specter.

Sestak wins the primary
Specter, in a fit of rage against Barry and his handlers, torpedoes Kagan in committee.
Sestak loses to Toomey
Eggelcent!

The funny thing is, Wright would have had a better chance getting money for African relief from Bush who actually cared about Africa, but gets no credit whatsoever for the millions of lives he help to save during his two terms.

It's really fucking scary how much how lives are being proscribed by unelected anonymous bureaucrats. When Congress screws a pooch like HCR[sic], you can vote them out, but the assholes at the EPA and FDA and whatnot, writing regulations to kill businesses and remove consumer choices--we don't know who they are, and even if we did there's nothing we can do.

they can vote Burns. The Burns v. Crist is a special election to fill Murtha's seat for the last 7 months.
I like in PA-4, so i can't vote in that election.

Poke your nose around this conservative Pennsylvanian political blog.Toomey said that he'd have voted to confirm Sotomayor and they hate him over there. Most of the conservatives there are voting for Peg Luksik, and more than a few are saying that if she loses they simply cannot vote for Toomey. And they hate Santorum with the same venom as Specter. Probably less than 10% of the people there voted for Santorum in 2006.
I think they're nuts, but they are what they are and there's more than a few of them.

dagny, kallisto and ben, I'll call 'em and tell them about Burns again, but at 82 and 85 years of age, if they don't want to bother going somewhere other than Walmart (!!!) they aren't going.
Since curious and I seem to be the most hard-core Beck listeners around, I'll have to add a couple other things to the pile that were mentioned upthread.
He started off the show with Blumenthal's Vietnam claim and they all laughed their arses off.
NY Cong Critter Anthony Weiner (D)-umbass is targeting Goldline saying they're profiting from Beck's fearmongering. (McCarthy tactics, anyone?) Meanwhile, Weiner was found guilty of accepting illegal campaign contributions (28K) from his parents, in his last re-election campaign. Soros's Media Matters also put out a release targeting another Beck advertiser and felt compelled to say they were "Arizona-based." Beck ended this segment by telling Weiner it wasn't going to end well for him!
The EPA is forming alliances with CHURCHES for its "faith-based initiatives."
The scariest stuff I saw yesterday were the two video clips he played on his show of two different Obama officials saying, "People out fighting in the street for food often make bad decisions."
He also thinks there's something not quite right about that Jeremiah Wright letter.
Remember the Alabama Ag Commissioner candidate? They had him call in and he was a scream. He kept calling Beck "Big Guy."

Oops...There it is!
2002 DOJ memo could make it hard for Obama to challenge Arizona immigration law http://bit.ly/cGvrSM
In the legal battle over Arizona's new immigration law, an ironic subtext has emerged: whether a Bush-era legal opinion complicates a potential Obama administration lawsuit against Arizona.
Posted by: conscious, if that's what you call it at May 18, 2010 07:14 AM (YVZlY)
Yes, the idiots say the 2002 memo is wrong and locals do not have the authority to enforce federal law. Just how stupid is that statement.
Substitute any other federal crime for illegals and see how it sounds:
Local police can not arrest counterfeiters because that is a federal crime and only the feds have jurisdiction.

We have to have a decade of really profound, deep, change, and it has to be in the right direction... And if we don't get those, we are in deep trouble. Â…
“The movement that would achieve that can't just be the presidency—that's where Obama didn't get it. It can't even just be the Congress. It's got to be school boards, city council, state legislature, county commission, governorships. I mean, you have to have a wave of change in this country... There are thousands of people around the country who walk up and say: ‘We have to have leadership that will get this done.’”

"Dale" didn't paint her dainty, for sure, but the "rest of the story" link display's the Norman Rockwell cover on which the "Sarah Parabellum" post is based. Rockwell put arms on Rosie that a Wookie might envy.
At last report, the Palin security team includes nine bodyguards. She's one tough, and very brave, lady.

Glad to hear that. Not long ago, Beck and the limo driver hired to ferry SP around NY were commiserating with each other how dangerous it was for her and her kids to traipse around NYC and the country with no bodyguards.

"The health department received a $15.6 million federal stimulus grant in March to fight obesity in San Antonio, known as one of the fattest cities in the country. Sculley launched the vending-machine initiative around the same time."
Will someone please tell me why the fuck we are giving "stimulus grants" to fight obesity!?!?! How the fuck does that stupid shit "stimulate" the fucking economy!?

Maybe this will help pay for the body guards:
Bristol Palin is hitting the speakers' circuit and will command between $15,000 and $30,000 for each appearance, Palin family attorney Thomas Van Flein said Monday....
Van Flein said Bristol Palin will be selective in the speeches she gives.
He said he believes she's interested in expanding her message beyond teen pregnancy to include her experiences on the campaign trail and in the media spotlight; her parenting approach; and her outlook on life.
Bristol Palin lives in Anchorage and works in a physician's office, Van Flein said.

Undecided Voters Poised to Play Big Role in Tuesday Primaries
Undecided voters could hold the key to a couple of high-stakes Democratic Senate primaries Tuesday, with polls showing their numbers are large enough to tilt the balance in Pennsylvania and Arkansas.
Confusing "independents" with "undecideds" who are the very definition of stupid.
Hey stupid Fox; ignorant undecideds do not vote in primaries. The people who vote in primaries are the hardcore Party base who are decided long before the election day.

Stay downtown on Fremont. They have the water misters and the whole area is covered so the heat is tolerable as you go from casino to casino. Also, you can carry your drinks with you outside.
The strip is for suckers.
