5 Linked on Drudge From the McPaper:   Paychecks from private business shrank to their smallest share of personal income in U.S. history during the first quarter of this year, a USA TODAY analysis of government data finds.

At the same time, government-provided benefits — from Social Security, unemployment insurance, food stamps and other programs — rose to a record high during the first three months of 2010.

Those records reflect a long-term trend accelerated by the recession and the federal stimulus progam to counteract the downturn. The result is a major shift in the source of personal income from private wages to government programs.

The trend is not sustainable, says University of Michigan economist Donald Grimes. Reason: The federal government depends on private wages to generate income taxes to pay for its ever-more-expensive programs. Government-generated income is taxed at lower rates or not at all, he says. "This is really important," Grimes says.

Over at HA. Apparantly some left wing writer has rented the home next to Sarah Palin's house for the next five months.

No word yet whether Sarah accepted Andrew Sullivans application to move into her uterus.

Like or hate Palin, this is insane. Could you imagine someone who hates you and plans to write a book about you with the worst intentions renting the house next to yours?

Oh and  Dagny, yes i don't know of any reason why Obama would not sign the order allowing Jindal to use the sand booms. I don't know if Obama and his admin would do something so damaging for politics sake, but I can't think of a good reason why they aren't letting Jindal do this.

Is Obama interferring with the clean up in Louisiana to hurt Jindel?

I don't know. There doesn't seem to be an easy answer to this problem...and I question their ability to handle anything that isn't easy...

Anywho, it would backfire because Gov. Jindal is going to handle the hell out of this.

Another tradition broken.Prez will not speak at Arlington on Memorial Day.

I'm sure he'll swing by just to take a dump on some graves.

I pointed this out last week but no one else said anything.

After his speech at west point, he stood behind the man handing out diplomas so that he could shake hands with each graduate. I would say one in three walked by him without looking at him or shaking his hand.

I bet he was pretty f'ing pissed about that.

Don't be suprised if you see the 2010 West Point grads put on bomb disposal duty.

At least we won't get a speech where he talks about the "fallen soldiers" standing in the crowd.

Good morning.
The Anchoress to Tom Friedman (D-Keynesian idiot)

“Every murderous totalitarian government of the 20th century began with some insulated group of faux-intellectuals congratulating each other on how smart they are, and fantasizing about how, if they could just install a dictatorship-for-a-day, they could right all the wrongs in the world. It is the ultimate fantasy of the narcissist. And we’ve got whole generations of them, in control of our media and our government, all intent on ‘remaking America.’”

Pretty.  much.

46 I missed the Will Folks post from Ace last night. because it cooled down here after the rain and I decided to have a porch sittin'. This is catch up and I didn't want to post it on a dead thread because it is important for Republicans and small government conservatives.

But anyway if ya'll want the news on this Will Folks kerfunckle here in SC here it is. First a review

Will Folks is a political blogger much like Ace, only local in SC. I used to read his blog but it became boring. Supposedly he is a conservative Republican and a supporter of Mark Sanford. I can't testify to either one of those facts. I can tell you that in years past from reading his blog I didn't note that it was any great beacon of conservatism or even libertarianism.

This is the web site he founded. It is currently led by other people.

http://tinyurl.com/kvy6g8

The story as I currently understand it is this:

1. We have a bunch of "Republicans" running for Governor. The primary vote is on June 8, only a couple of weeks away. The current candidates are as follows:

Attorney General Henry McMaster, state Rep. Nikki Haley, state Sen. Larry Grooms, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett.

2. Sarah Palin came to the State a short while ago and endorsed Nikki Haley. Since then her poll numbers have shot through the roof. She is now far in the lead on the Ras poll numbers. Before the Palin endorsement I had never heard of her. In fact, I had heard of only two of the current candidates. ALL of the newspapers here are Dem Party PR rags. The only stories they will print are ones they think will hurt Republicans.

3. According to most of the things I have read Nikki Haley is a true small government conservative i.e. the tea party ideal candidate.

4. The established Republican Party in SC hates small government conservatives, hence the relentless attacks on Mark Sanford and now Nikki Haley. Keep in mind that the current Republican Party in SC is led by Lindsey Graham. Most of the current Republicans in the State House are former Democrats who became Republicans when SC abandoned the Dem Party. Hence the hate for small government.

5. According to Will Folks a group of liberals was about to release a smear campaign on Nikki Haley after she got the lead in the polls. This smear campaign was going to aledge an affair between him and Nikki Haley. This is what made him come forward now.

6. What he alleges is that in the past, before he was married, he had "inappropriate physical contact" with Haley. He refuses to provide any details or further explanation.

7. Of course since this was an alleged affair of a Republican conservative the media led by Jim Davenport (AP- former State Newspaper Dem PR spokesman) picked up on it in a hurry.

8. Nikki Haley denies that any affair has ever occurred between her and Will Folks.

Based on what has actually been said this could be nothing more than Will Folks groping her at a Christmas party.

What I gather from all of this is that it is the typical SC Republican Party hack attack campaign. it only makes me want to vote for Nikki Haley even more.

Morons of SC remember this; a vote for Nikki Haley is a vote against Part hacks like Lindsey Graham.

63 Obama administration figures trying to lose Gitmo cases?

NEW YORK — Officials in the Obama administration demanded a game-changing rule change for the Guantanamo Bay military tribunal that would have likely scuttled the war crimes murder charge against Canadian-born terror suspect Omar Khadr, Canwest News Service has learned.

The officials sought to strip a new commissions manual of a law-of-war murder definition that is central to Khadr's prosecution in the mortal wounding of Special Forces Sgt. First Class Chris Speer during a 2002 firefight in Afghanistan, insiders say.

Omission of the segment could have also obliged prosecutors to trim or abandon "up to one-third" of its cases, according to one inside estimate. Prosecutors said in the wake of the Bush administration they were prepared to take about 60 Guantanamo detainees to trial — among them the accused co-conspirators of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

64 Ben smith, politico Sarah Palin, guerilla Facebook warrior, turns the tables a bit on the author Joe McGinniss -- best known for his Nixon campaign account, The Selling of the President, and for the murder investigation Fatal Vision -- who, she says, has rented the house next door. Palin, in a recurring preoccupation, suggests that McGinniss is really there to peep at her young daughters, noting that his property overlooks "Piper’s bedroom, my little garden, and the family’s swimming hole." Needless to say, our outdoor adventure ended quickly after Todd went to introduce himself to the stranger who was peering in... Joe announced to Todd that he’s moved in right next door to us. He’s rented the place for the next five months or so. He moved up all the way from Massachusetts to live right next to us – while he writes a book about me. Knowing of his many other scathing pieces of “journalism” (including the bizarre anti-Palin administration oil development pieces that resulted in my Department of Natural Resources announcing that his work is the most twisted energy-related yellow journalism they’d ever encountered), we’re sure to have a doozey to look forward to with this treasure he’s penning. Wonder what kind of material he’ll gather while overlooking Piper’s bedroom, my little garden, and the family’s swimming hole? Welcome, Joe! It’ll be a great summer – come borrow a cup of sugar if ever you need some sweetener. And you know what they say about “fences make for good neighbors”? Well, we’ll get started on that tall fence tomorrow, and I’ll try to keep Trig’s squeals down to a quiet giggle so we don’t disturb your peaceful summer. Enjoy! UPDATE: I haven't been able to reach McGinniss, but did send an errant email to his son, the novelist Joe McGinniss Jr., who replied, "Sadly, she's right. We tried our best to intervene, but alas, the heart wants what it wants. We can only pray for him now. He's convinced that Todd will step aside and when the time is right, he'll be there, right next door, to pick up the pieces."

Posted by: Dan at May 25, 2010 08:26 AM (1jzSs)

65 Somebody move next door to McGinniss and leave telescopes pointed at his house 24/7. Preferably with webcams attached. Which would be active 24/7. One good stunt deserves another...
