House, Senate leaders finalize details of sweeping financial overhaul
Here's the money quote from (please dump) Dodd:
"No one will know until this is actually in place how it works. But we believe we've done something that has been needed for a long time. It took a crisis to bring us to the point where we could actually get this job done."

Only a member of the U.S. Congress could utter those sentences in sequence without their head exploding from the internal whipsaw.

I groaned when Pelousi said something similar about Obamacare ("we need to pass the bill before we know what's in it").
But libs have mastered how to manage the internal contradictions without said whipsaw. Great for them, bad for us.

Came across this at Red State this mornin, given the general disdain here for Eric E., I did not link for fear of a severe noodle lashing; never the less Its pretty interesting.
There's this thing in the United States House of Representatives called a "discharge petition." In a nutshell, a congressman can write a bill and, when the leaders in charge of the House refuse to do anything with it, the congressman can file a discharge petition. The petition, if personally signed by 218 congressmen, forces the House Speaker to put the matter up for a vote by the House.
Why is this important?
Well, every Republican in the House of Representatives and a bunch of Democrats say if a vote were held tomorrow, they would vote to repeal Obamacare. In fact, if you add up all the Blue Dogs, the Republicans, and the Democrats now scrambling for political cover saying they'd vote to repeal, you arrive at the magic number of 218, which also happens to be the total number of votes needed to pass a piece of legislation in the House of Representatives.
Congressman Steve King (R-IA) has filed a discharge petition on legislation he has drafted to repeal Obamacare. He needs 218 signatures.

Right darn tootin' this is important. How can we screw this up? Would beating on Joe Barton help?

This "financial overhaul" provided by our Democrat friends used to be called "Central Planning". It's straight out of Carl Marx's playbook. Stalin would be damn proud of Barny Frank and Chris Dodd. This system of central planning, or government run financial system has never worked, and always failed. And since they didn't bother to overhaul Fanny Mae, I assume they think that institution is the "model" for everyone else. We are so fucked. Our beloved free and strong United States is marching down the path to full blown government control over everything....COMMUNISM.

AGW was never dependent on real science nor was it ever intended to fix anything. If it had been the real solution would have been to actually ration carbon and not create a new "tax".
The proposed solution always shows that the real "problem" is. In the case of AGW the real problem is not enough taxes and communism.

I'm sure you all discussed this already, but this is such a coincidence of impossible proportions that I thought I would re-comment on it.
It turns out (wow - I'm still amazed) that the entire Dearborn police force is related to Charlie Gibson.
And when asked about the 1st Ammendment, they all, in unison said, "Never heard of it."

Today marks 60 years since North Korea invaded South Korea.
Considering that the goal was to save the Republic of Korea from being taken over by the communists, I'd say that campaign was an unambiguous success.
(A hand-on-heart salute to all who served in Korea from 1950 to 1953. You won that war.)

Its been 176 days since Gitmo was to be closed.
President Obama would've closed Gitmo last year except he had underestimated my many empty boxes he'd need to get from the liquor store and how many buddies (including at least one with a truck) he'd need to help him with the move. His predecessor made this mess, etc., etc.

More than half of BrazilÂ’s models are found among the tiny farms of Rio Grande do Sul, a state that has only one-twentieth of the nationÂ’s population and was colonized predominantly by Germans and Italians. Alisson Chornak, a Brazilian model scout, waiting for students to leave their high school in Restinga Seca in Rio Grande do Sul.

The upside is future classical guitar and violin builders will get a nice stash of wood for future use. A lot of Stradavarius's wood was taken from trees that grew in that european mini ice age. The builders love those tight tree rings
Then again who am I kidding, by then the left will have made it a capitol offense to harvest trees, and any naturally dying trees will be turned into piles of wooden dildos to be passed out at certain parades.

"Consistent with my administration's national export initiative, this includes the sale of 50 Boeing aircraft worth four billion dollars that could add up to 44,000 new jobs in the American aerospace industry," Obama said.
The 737 is currently in full production with an absolutely huge backlog of 1600 aircraft. 50 aircraft just ensures the line keeps going for another 6 weeks sometime a few years down the road. It doesn't add a single job, let alone 44,000. Where the fuck does this retard come up with this shit?
