WASHINGTON – A new White House report says last year's $862 billion stimulus law has now "saved or created" between 2.5 million and 3.6 million jobs.
That's up from 2.2 million to 2.8 million in the last quarterly report from the White House Council of Economic Advisers.
Christine Romer, head of the council, says in congressional testimony prepared for Wednesday that every $1 from the stimulus bill is matched by $3 in private money.
She says the law "appears to be stimulating private investment and job creation at a time when the economy needs it most."
Can they still say this shit with a straight face? Let's see the economy is in the crapper so just release a new report with better numbers. Brilliant

Concerning the NAACP racism resolution:
They're justification for calling the Tea party racist is based on a few instances of racism, based on anecdotal evidence. Kind of like the concept that one bad apple ruins the bunch.
Well, i don't have the time, but if someone were to looking into the rabid antisemitism of NAACP members and even leaders, they should compile a list and let the TEA party pass a resolution claiming the NAACP is a jew hating organization. (if the tea party can pass resolutions, i am not sure how that works).
The simply fact would be there is far far more evidence of jew hatred at the NAACP than there is racism in the tea party.

Actually from what I saw it was based on the phony accusations of those idiots marching across the WH lawn that claimed the N-word and spitting. You know, that incident that was later shown to be entirely made up.

I don't even think we have to shift it to antisemitism. There has been plenty of good ol' racism among NAACP members through the years, especially the local chapters.
And, if you consider false claims of racism to be a form of racism, as I do, then it's off the charts.

Very transparent, and so expected as to not qualify as news. I saw this on Slate yesterday and laughed my ass off:

This.
A majority of Americans have become so race-whipped that they won't call out any black person who cries "racism" on scant or no evidence.
I'm afraid the end result is that there will be a sharp rise in whites deciding that if they have the name, they might as well play the game. Sympathy for fake victims can only go so far, and the NAACP, along with the Osama Obama regime, has reached Balloon Boy status in the "feel me" game.
I have no regrets about participating (locally in CA) in the Civil Rights movement back in the 60s. I didn't expect gratitude, and still don't. What I expected was to help make a change in society that made stupidity like that shown by the current government, the Black Panthers and various fake "Reverends" unnecessary. On both sides of the racial aisle.

From US Weekly magazine: exclusive!
The pair, both 20, say they reconnected about three months ago while working out a custody agreement for their 18-month-old son, Tripp. “I really thought we were over,” Johnston tells the magazine, which puts the formerly star-crossed lovers on the cover. But after a walk, Bristol says she was stunned how different her former fiancé was. Later, Johnston texted her: “I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again.” “I was in shock,” Bristol says.
“I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again.”

The running joke among my friends is "thank God I'm not a white male, now they are the ones the bigots are after". I'm seriously beginning to think all these stupid organizations have no connections with real people, these people in these organizations don't get out much, don't associate with anyone but those in the organization so of course they are going to think like an organization robot and not realize that people in the real world are literally laughing at them and making jokes about them. Jokes are a great way to distance yourself from something you think is not right, doesn't resonate with you.

I don't know who the NAACP claims as its members. AFAIK it could be populated mainly by white liberals from the UWS and Berkeley CA. I saw a comment on a conservative blog a few weeks ago that pointed out a Biblical passage that says near the end of days one-third of the oceans will be blood. The commenter then cited forecasts that said the Gulf spill could spread to one-third of the oceans. Back then, the comment pointed out how pix of the Gulf spill show the oil with a red cast. Damn, I missed that! So she isn't one of those painted ladies at FOX?
I have recently heard Laura Ingraham doing the new radio ads for the station's hosts, specifically for Michael Savage's show. And I've heard her voice support for Michael Savage on her show when he was being sued by CAIR, long before the Brit Socialists targeted him KNOWING that Savage's radio host peers wouldn't lift a finger on his behalf, let alone say a word.
You know, despite Savage's personality, I don't see how conservatives can argue AGAINST his perspectives on the various philosophies and cultures involved in the world's politics. And since so many can't really argue with him effectively, they play the mute egotistical cowards looking on while he's abused by enemies of our Constitutional Republic.
Many years ago when I first heard his show en route home, I was amazed to hear someone articulate so well my own views. Back then, America wasn't on the verge of collapse, and his monologues and phone calls that I heard were centered on that zeitgeist before 9/11.
Now, he has been delegated by circumstance the role of America's prophet crying from the wilderness, repent for the day of the lord is at hand. In other words, destruction is at hand. Halt and reassess our positions.
I wish his peers would lend him the hand he deserves despite his spite towards everyone's weaknesses aside from his own. Beyond proving their own smallness in spirit, hosts like Limbaugh prove just how far off target from conservatism they really are in their politics. For instance, Hannity's "Reagan Conservative" and "American exceptionalism" sounds so patriotic and virtuous until we realize the fallacy embedded within egotism that excuses itself as well as excusing terrorism so long as at the moment of occurrence it is designated as "good" terrorism (Afghan Taliban) vs. undesirable "bad" terrorism (Afghan Taliban).

phoenix - read it, too. The storyline felt a little hurried. I think some of that is the consequence of Glenn's low-grade ADD. He could've taken more time, drug the storyline out to span maybe a year (gosh, it felt like everything was crammed into a weekend!). Doing that would've made the book probably 50 - 100% larger, and Glenn seems to have a rough cap on book length. I've got Inconvenient Book, Arguing, and Overton Window, and on the shelf they're all about the same thickness.
(not really spoilers, but if you want to read the book without having any clue about what goes on, I've blotted it out)
I took the story as largely a case-study in how the Overton Window concept works. You start off in the rough equivalent of the current American climate, and by the end of the book you are way off in a place completely unrecognizable, but the march there was nudged along gradually, coordinated with various other events to provide the pretext of justification, and you assume that the bulk of society goes with the flow willingly. Now that you've seen how the concept can be used to steer the course of society, albeit in an abbreviated example, you're now equipped to recognize real-world instances. I've read the book. My wife has not. And she's started to get irked at me for how often I have started to point out "nudges" in the storyline called The Evening News.

In honor of their passing, King Barry will only play one round of golf on vacay in Maine this weekend.
But his playing partners will spot him 8 strokes.

A friend of ours alerted everyone via e-mail recently that a close friend of his who is a scientist, believes the floor of the Gulf is indeed rising.
Jane, always be leery of the friend of a friend rumor. Always...

I heard the Gulf Floor Rising bit back on July 4th on Coast-to-Coast. So, take it for what it is. It was fun to hear them talking about something other than aliens for a while.

From what I recall, I don't think the methane is under the gulf floor. It has been saturating the waters around the blown out well, like the CO2 in soda. This was backed with a study of the oil coming out of the well (don't have a cite, feel free to dispute this) that a "normal" oil well puts out about 95% crude, with 5% methane mixed in, but the mixture coming out of the gulf well is closer to 60% crude and 40% methane.
This methane gets stuck in the colder, deep waters.
Whatever is causing the floor to bulge will eventually give, causing the floor to cave back in. This action will basically shake up the gulf water, again, like a soda, causing all the methane trapped in the water to come out of solution and bubble up to the surface.
This is bad in two separate, deadly ways.
First, obviously, a massive methane bubble reaching the surface is gonna suffocate anything that needs oxygen to survive.
Secondly, the bubble will sink any ship unfortunate enough to be above it, as boats rely on being lighter than water to float (not lighter than methane). Down go the ships.
In addition to all this, the collapse of the gulf floor would result in the creation of a very large wave, only minutes away from the gulf coast, giving essentially no warning time before it crashes to shore, washing away New Orleans, Houston, Galveston, Brownsville, etc...
Again, I've got no source. Take this as you will. I'd love for someone to post evidence that all of this is complete horseshit. It'd make me sleep better at night.

Yasser's website is a site where one can chat with girls in arabic.
Typical spam, just from our racist Al-Q trolls instead

Our local tea party committee is most definitely raaaacccissst. Except for the black mom, dad, and teenaged daughter who recently joined.
Amazing what you can accomplish with a "Uncle Tom's Wanted" sign I guess..
It's just so sad to me that liberals cannot or will not see that this has nothing to do with race whatsoever. There are people out there who are honestly concerned about the direction of our country and their trying to make a difference, and instead of listening all the opposition wants to do is hurl ugly, baseless accusations because they can't discuss the merits of their position.

reason, a methane hydrate boil-off would wipe out life in the lowlying areas around the Gulf, depending on the prevailing winds.
It's been documented at a link I saw here before
Ahh, here it is

Hey toby, thank you.
But even if that guy's hypothesis is wrong, a massive bleed out of the oil well coould cause enough of a colloape of the sea floor to let a goodly chunk of methane out. The nuke option might have caused a cascade in the frozen methane globally. So it's possible that this could get massively worse, but still highly unlikely.
