Recovery Summer keeps rolling along!!!!
July 30 (Bloomberg) -- Growth in the U.S. slowed to a 2.4 percent annual rate in the second quarter, less than forecast, reflecting a larger trade deficit and an easing in consumer spending.
“The economy is muddling through,” Ethan Harris, head of North America economics at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch Global Research in New York, said in an interview after the report. “We’re probably not going to see a really strong number for a while. We need to see some pickup in job growth.”
But Barry has created 300 gazillion new jobs already. What else can he do? Maybe guest host The View for week will turn things around

And after all of those hard, incisive questions on the view.
(And those bigotted mongrel answers. Hey, I know.)
Did anyone count the non-lies? Because I'm pretty certain there were'nt any.)

Now Vic, don't go all "partisany" on us now. Let's be fair to Barry, there has been plenty of growth. Unemployment, foreclosures and violent crime in Arizona by illegals are all areas that have shown remarkable growth!

Vic,
There will be short-term fluctuations above and below the long-term movement of the economy. They are measuring these and calling them growth. It is still far below what is needed to create enough jobs to return us to full employment (app. 5%), but it can't beat for a sound bite.

The sluggish economy and a 9.5 percent unemployment rate are eroding President Barack Obama's popularity and dimming Democrats' prospects in November's mid-term elections.
A Reuters-Ipsos poll this week showed only a 34 percent approval of Obama's handling of the economy and jobs compared to 46 percent who deemed it unsatisfactory.

BOSTON – Sen. John Kerry said he always intended to pay taxes in Massachusetts on his $7 million yacht but conceded he mishandled the public furor over his decision to dock the vessel in tax-free Rhode Island.
"I don't think I dealt with it fast enough, effectively enough. There's nobody to blame but myself for that," the Massachusetts Democrat told The Boston Globe for Friday's editions.
Kerry added that he did nothing legally wrong.
Yeah, he intended to pay the taxes after he got caught. And what public furor? The media barely mentioned the story

Expatriate to a country where womens' libbers have had less effect (like most Latin countries) and you can still use corporal punishment on your wife if she misbehaves. To begin, the pretend journalists at MSNBC actually redid the opening segment of Hardball an account of even Chris Matthews being able to tell Howard Dean was an idiot (amazing, I know). The specifics in this case were regarding where Breitbart's clip of Sherrod ended.
But then we have two takes on what happened and why...Mediaite's, and Newsbusters'.
So for those of you who are thoroughly lost...the segment on whether or not the Brietbart video was cut for spin...was cut and replaced for spin...which fact has, itself, now been distorted for spin.
Motion sickness treatments available at the door.

In taking up the issue of voting rights for felons, the Supreme Court is forcing a public conversation about race on the Obama administration.
Since when are fucking felons supposed to be allowed to vote?
And what does this incredibly stupid notion have to do with race?
This, like the amnesty the Traitor-in-Chief's co-conspirators are going to force on us, is "about" one thing only: more Democrat voters.
After all, if we continue to disqualify felons from voting, neither the Dem base nor their leaders will be able to cast ballots. They'll have to rely on the faithful zombie voters.
Must. Not. Burst. Blood. Vessel.

"Modernizing the nation’s labor law is critical to expanding union membership—which in turn, will ensure conservatives become a permanent minority, as newly-empowered workers actively engage in political action and demand a new way of doing the nation’s business, like creating an economy that rewards Main Street and not just Wall Street. The freedom to form unions and bargain is critical to the progressive movement—when workers have the tools they need to build a better life, they have the power to improve their communities and the solidarity to make progressive political change throughout the nation."

This is a decision for the states and something the Fed gvt should not have any role in.
Couple this with the fact that the DOJ seems to be purposely disenfranchising soldiers because of their openly telling states that if they choose not to send ballots to soldiers in accordance with the law, the DOJ will not prosecute.
They are overtly trying to amplify the blocks of voters they see as helping them - criminals, by in large - while they openly seek to disenfranchise those who might hurt them - our soldiers.
These bastards are going to kill this country, one way or another.

Fox did a story on Megyn's show yesterday about very cool "Doomsday" rooms people are buying, that run about $400,000 to start and you can live in one up to a year. The higher-end models you can live in for up to five years. They're actually really nice.

Personally I'm shocked that the rape wave hasn't begun yet - we're getting pretty close to that critical mass. http://tinyurl.com/y6ab3h If the muzzies ever get a suitcase nuke into the country I hope it accidentally blows prematurely in one of those two cities. (You can rest assured it will pass through there on it's way to whatever target the ragheads have in mind.) It would be doing my poor state a huge favor to be rid of those two pits of welfare and islamism.

The republicans remain silent. This is why more and more us independents say we can't tell the difference between the two parties. There have been so many opportunities for them to capitalize on and they remain silent.
Having a trial for Rangel is not a good move and probably the left wants them to make that move. The trial will reinforce the prejudice among the republicans and foster the hatred of GWB and help them in the upcoming elections.

The Clinton years were about as bad. The entire HillaryCare effort was almost nothing but competing analyses from federal and somewhat private research shops for whatever the task force would put into the wind.
Stances and communications on DADT, government shutdown, welfare reform, and handling the scandals (down to and including testimony under oath) were all tested by focus groups and decided in response to public opinion polls.
The big difference between now and then is that this administration's abject incompetence is something new.

The nationalized companies and most of the other stuff haven't impacted most people personally yet. If they start nationalizing 401Ks it will hit a large portion of the working population immediately and directly.
Almost ALL of the major companies have gone to some kind of 401K and/or cash balance retirement program instead of the old retirement programs like out parents had. Mostly the only large employers left are union controlled government jobs.
If they do do it, I am sure that they will try to disguise it as some other "beneficial" program like bailing out 401Ks that have lost too much value and people are hurt in retirement.
The key will be whether or not the news actually reports it so people know it is coming.

It is perhaps less newsworthy than the "Breaking News!!!!" chattering class thinks. Welding shops tend to have lots of explosive gases in bottles and tanks. From StrategyPage...
The coach of the North Korean national football (soccer) team has been expelled from the Communist Party, lost many economic perks, and is now working at a construction site. This is punishment for the North Korean team losing all three games in the recent World Cup competition. The coach's punishment is seen as a sign of progress, as past coach's of losing teams were sent to labor camps, which is often equivalent to a death sentence
Posted by: HH at July 30, 2010 07:59 AM (6oDXl)
Nope, SS used to not be taxed. Now it is taxed after you reach a certain level. That was one of the "baby boomer" fixes way back in the 70s or 80s.
The first level of taxation applies to these base amounts:
Filing single income of $25,001 -$34,000Filing joint income of $32,001 - $44,000One half of your base amount in this level equals the amount of SS benefits that is taxable. However, the amount taxed in this level can not be more than 1/2 of your total SS benefits. For example, if you are filing single and your base amount is $30,001 then you have $5,000 of income in this level. One half of that amount is $2500. So in this example, $2500 of your SS benefits are taxable (as long as that is not over 1/2 of your total SS benefits).

Actually that is not far from wrong. The Dems always figure on these tax measures that they can get them by unindexed and inflation will make them applicable over the long haul.
When this thing was passed the amounts that were taxable were a small percentage of the then retirement income. In 1970 if you were getting $20,000/yr in retirement you were doing pretty good. by 2020 50 years later $20,000/yr is utter poverty and the average is at $50K/yr.
